It's difficult to imagine why this shoe would cost this much. It is a typical, average-quality shoe from Keen. The tongue is VERY thin and will tend to not cushion the top of the foot. Near zero lateral support in the toe box. Bungee lacing system does not allow one to tighten the shoe too much. But the heel is a fail IMO...very clunky, awkward and unattractive. Overall this shoe is a fail.

These are great! I didn't like the stretchy laces at first but now after learning how to not overtighten them they are fantastic.

These shoes rock! I have very difficult feet to fit and these are just perfect. they are comfortable, well made and provide great style with the bungee feature. I'm going to purchase them again in other colors. My issue is I'm a B width but need a toe box that is not sharply angled so my toes can wiggle around. Thanks, Keen, for great shoes!

The Keen Versatrail where very comfortable out of the box. I hope they come out in a different color. These are a lighter gray color. Picture looks a little darker.

I liked the men's version and showed my wife the colors in women's and I was surprised she felt they were really cute and wanted to try them (we got the ink blue), even being a die-hard asiscs fan. She's been very happy with the fit and work great on easy trails in our area.

These shoes are great for me. I tried them with the bungee cords that came with it but decided to change out to the laces which are included. I am very happy with the fit. There is plenty of room to wiggle my toes and will be great with thicker socks. I appreciate the stable heel counter for uneven surfaces. These shoes are not twisty yet flex where they need to flex. The footbed is very comfortable with some softness in the heel yet has a very good arch support. This is my 4th pair of Keens and I find these are top notch quality just as the others are. No disappointment there! Adding a bit of whimsy to the shoe are the tiny flecks of orange on the lilac colored shoe back. I also like the ventilation and airy feeling when wearing these since I have sweaty feet. I will especially enjoy them a lot in warm weather! Great walking shoe for me!

Overall, the Versatrail is a serviceable trekker that work well for light hikes and mild rock scrambling, and they can even handle some damp trails. Out of the box these trekkers felt pretty good. They were a little wide in the toe box, which is fine while on the trails themselves, but felt a bit wide on pavement. To be fair, I have a narrow foot, but with a heavy sock and the cinch closure, these fit snug enough not to rub. The Keen description of the model suggested wearing them in "warm" weather, which I took to mean "dry." That said, they performed well on one of the muddy trails that Juneau is famous for, and I noted that they stayed pretty dry even after a wet walk and hitting some shallow puddles. They were also surprisingly grippy on wet rock. The shoes came with the stretchable cinch closure so they're easy on/off and easy to adjust, but I plan to try them with the regular laces once I figure out how to remove the cinch without breaking the snap closure.

We live in a rural area near suburbs, so my walking is done on paved and non-paved roads. I bought these for long walks and light hikes and they are just what I needed. They're kind of clunky looking, but they are supportive and have a wide enough toe box so my feet are still happy after a few miles. The bungee laces are perfect for me, and if you don't like them, Keen includes a set of regular laces, so you have a choice. I also have Keen hiking boots, and these fit about the same with a bit less support and quite a bit less weight. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase!

I am loving my Keen Versatrail shoes in the neutral gray/saffron color. They are comfortable and very supportive. I have noticed that there is extra support in the heel area which is nice. The elastic laces are awesome because I can just step in and go instead of having to sit down to tie my shoes. They also come with a pair of regular laces if you want to switch them. These shoes feel great with and without socks, I can comfortably wear them either way. These shoes do feel like they run a bit wide, but this is not a problem for me. They are well made, nice everyday walking shoes!

Keens have been a favorite of our sons for quite some time. They are a wide shoe, and easy to put on/take off. My son has enjoyed several pairs of Keen sandals, so he was eager to try the Versatrails. He liked the style and thought they were comfortable. They look great, and are "all day" comfortable.

All in all, I would rate the Keen Versatrail as a good shoe for walking my kids to school. I love that they're super comfortable, and easy to throw on, but they're not my favorite shoe in terms of styling, as I think they look a little boxy. I suspect they would look better in another color. I have the neutral grey/saffron, which are fairly monochromatic, with the exception of the sole and a stripe down the top. The other colors look to have more contrast. These shoes have some big wins in my book. The run a little wide, and are completely comfortable on my foot, even though I have bunions. I love the quick lace systems. I am a huge fan of shoes that I don't have to tie, and really don't understand why more companies don't make them. The lace system works well for my feet since I typically wear my shoes slightly loose in the front, and tighter near the tongue. Out of the box, I thought these shoes looked a little boxy, and pretty heavy, especially in the heel area. I was pleasantly surprised by 2 things: they are fairly lightweight and have only a slight rise. They have a decent amount of padding, without being too cushy. All in all very comfortable.

I found that I needed these a 1/2 size larger than my usual Keen size because the toe area in this style does not have the typical wide round toebox that Keen usually has. This style seemed very uncomfortable at first even in the larger size but after a few days it felt much better. The discomfort was along the sides--I did not feel the shoe was wide as others did. I got the dark gray and black colorway and was surprised that the white areas are reflective but think this does add some fun to the look. Using the enclosed laces instead of the bungee cords helped me tighten the heel.
