These are comfortable right out of the box. I wore them 12-16 hours per day with no problems. My feet are normal volume but wide across the front with a narrow heel. The 9W shoes provided the necessary width at front of foot without excess volume (height) as occurs with most wide shoes. It took a little practice to get them to hold snug on my narrow heel, but they ultimately worked well. The front width is classic W or EE - not a 3E or 4E. I removed the manufacturers insole and used with a full length orthotic so I cannot speak to the manufacturer's arch support.

These shoes are the least comfortable- no, most painful- hiking shoes I have ever used. I have tried to like them, because there is much to like. They are very sturdy. They are completely waterproof. The sole offers a sure grip on loose ground. But, they are exceedingly painful for me to actually hike in. The heel throws the foot forward- much like the heel of a woman's fashion shoe- so that weight is concentrated on the ball of the foot. Try that for a few miles and you'll come to regret it. I have used gel inserts and not solved the problem. I have used gel inserts AND foam and not solved this problem.
The shoe's stiffness means that, for me, my heel lifts with each step. Blister city. There is no provision for an extra eyelet so that relacing might prevent this. Finally, while excellent on loose ground, their stiffness makes them quite slick on hard, wet rock surfaces.
I really tried, Vasque. I have a pair of your hiking boots that are perfect. But these shoes are completely unsatisfactory.

Truth be told, I didn't want to like this shoe. Just doesn't look like anything I'd ever wear. My job requires lots of property evaluation in all types of terrain. Every shoe I wore before were soaked before 8:30 and that makes for a long, long day. These Vasque shoes keep every drop of water and mud out while still keeping my feet relatively cool. The wide toe box is perfect because normal width shoes and I are not good friends. Look, you aren't likely to find a waterproof shoe that is awesome looking. That seems to be a difficult combination to create but these totally do their job and do it well.
If I lost this pair, I'd buy another just like em.

These are substantial shoes- they feel much more like boots than sneakers. They're well made with a good bit of padding and overall, very comfortable.
The shoes seem slightly narrow in the toe box but this was easily be remedied with thinner socks. I would not recommend buying half a size up.
I assume that materials used to make these water resistant contributes to the sense of the shoes being warm when worn. It's cold now and that warmth is a benefit. During the summer, your feet will surely sweat...

Every foot is different, and though I've owned Vasque shoes and boots before, these didn't seem to fit my foot as well. Specifically, I had a big problem with heel lift. Relacing to give me a bit more "backpressure" solved about half the problem, but not all of it. The final eyelets aren't doubled as they are on many other shoes of this type, so you have to make do. An extra eyelet probably would have solved the heel life problem, I think.
The soles are great, but thick and stiff. You won't feel rocks the way you might in other shoes with thinner, softer soles. They give good grip on loose trails, but can be a little slick on wet, hard rocks. Overall, I love the heft and quality of these shoes. They feel like they will last a lot longer than comparable shoes from North Face.

Bought for hiking. Extremely comfortable right out of the box. Great casual hiking shoe with good grip. Have a job where I am on my feet for long periods of time and because these shoes are more comfortable than tennis shoes, I also wear them for work. Have a pair of Vasque running shoes which have 18 months and hundreds of miles on them and they are still comfortable and have experienced no problems with soles, interior or exterior materials. Brand produces shoes which are very well made and value for money.

Ordered several shoe brands and this was the favorite at first. He like the look and it was comfortable. Ended up picking a different one but this seemed to be a good shoe.

I normally wear 9.5 D but in this shoe I had to go to a 9.5 E in order for it to fit comfortably.
Zappos return policy made it easy to find my perfect fit.

Very comfortable right out of the box. The Vasque boots I've had in the past have worn well. Just received them today so can't speak for the longevity of this style.

This is my second pair of Vasque shoes. The first pair did not disappoint, held up well. Great for walking and light hiking. Haven't tested the water resistance of this pair but so far so good.
