This particular style of Luckys are incredibly comfortable and have that soft feel that's signature Lucky Brand. The 221s are a pretty straightforward cut - a little room without showing a baggy look. I find that Lucky Brand's more loose-fitting cuts are in my opinion dumpy-looking and are not at all good for biking as the fabric easily gets twisted up and the cuff hem (at the ankle) is so large that you need to roll them up a few times so they don't hang up on something or get caught in the chain. The 221's are different because they have a little extra fabric where you'll need it but not where you don't, and since the places that you need it are usually not that noticeable, they come across looking pretty sharp, even when your body is looking a little... uh... soft.
On that note, for people who have a large belly but don't carry much fat in their legs, these are a very good cut. While I am most definitely overweight, I walk and bike ride quite a lot so I actually have fairly muscular legs and I find the 221s just roomy enough to comfortably walk or ride moderately long distances. Were I wearing other jeans that attempt to be "slimming" then bunching becomes a real problem, especially with riding. The 221s seem to be sized just right so that the stitching of the crotch doesn't end up rubbing against your inner thigh flesh so if chaffing is a problem for you, this might be a good cut to try out. Also, the extra fabric tends to get caught up in things, so riding a bike in those is not a good idea. For the 221's however, bike riding is no problem and you don't even have to cuff hems to keep them from getting caught in your chain.
The only thing that is clearly a flaw with these jeans it that they really could use a sturdy gusset in the crotch. I am not sure how this would negatively affect comfort, but I have found that for both pairs of 221's that I've owned (and loved) both ended up getting torn wide open at the crotch after about 9 months of on and off wear. (Probably something like 3-4 months of net use if I consider that I do have other pairs of jeans that I wear.) It's not like I did anything extreme with them. It's just that after a while the friction of "rubbing" in the crotch wears the fabric out to the point that squatting down just makes them tear apart. This happens rather suddenly which is odd, and it happened to both pairs are roughly the same time. I haven't had any sudden weight gains or losses. I will say on average I walk 5 miles a day or ride twice that so that is a lot of wear. I can't even say if this is typical, short, or long lifespan considering the "mileage" of these jeans, but I will say that Levi's - while typically nowhere near as comfortable as Lucky - do hold up a lot better, but they to eventually wear out the same way. I know that being overweight can be hard on clothing, especially to the belt-line of jean, but it seems that it's the walking combined with rubbing thighs that seems to do in jeans before their time. In my case, they seem to wear out after walking about 400-500 miles in them, and if I were to hazard a guess, washing them about every 15 miles or so. I know that's a strange way to measure jeans, but seeing as that seems to be what determines life span, that's what works for me.

I bought these for my 17 year old son in addition to Levis 541 and Lucky Brand 361 Vintage Straight. He has never owned a pair of jeans that fit comfortably because he has an athletic build with muscular thighs. He thanked me three times for buying the Lucky 221s for him. They are on the more expensive side, but I'm not concerned as all of the Lucky Brand jeans I've ever owned have held up very well with repeated washes. Definitely worth the investment.

We ordered the Lucky Brand 221 Original Straight in Barite and received the 410 Athletic Slim. The button and rivets are not brass but are aluminum....disappointing.

Form fitting but not skinny jeans. I've worn this brand, this style for years now and love them. Sits slightly below the waist. The fit of every pair I've purchased has been consistent.

I purchased these expecting them to look great and feel great. I must be Lucky, because I got what I wanted for sure, they're extremely comfortable and look great. I'm a bigger guy (2XL shirt, 40x30 jeans) and these fit really nicely and are a bit on the slim side without being skinny jeans. I'll definitely be buying more pairs in different colors now that I know how they look and feel. I feel lucky every time I wear them. Slainte!

These are amazing jeans! They fit my man like they were made for him. The material is super comfortable and they are a little longer so a bit bunchy at the bottom, which looks quite good. Overall, huge thumbs up!

First Lucky's in a while that fit me well. It's been 10 years since I've found a pair that fit as well. Low rise, not to long in the legs, fit is great. A little stretch helps athletes. I'm a 31-30, 5'7" ~150lbs.

The color and fabric on these jeans is very nice. However, I do think for a straight leg these are a bit baggy. I'm a normal(?) build from the waist down and especially in the upper to mid thighs they just have a lot of room which gives them a baggy look as opposed to something a little more cut that isn't skinny.

I wear lucky brand jeans exclusively and love them. This style runs extremely small.
