Loved the look of the boot, but they felt a bit heavy. I didn’t wear the around to break them in because I needed to return them. I’m a true 8 and I ordered an 8. They were too big, I should have listened to the reviews and ordered down a half size.

I am usually an 8.5 or 9 in a boot--the 81/2 was too big so went with the 8--perfect. These boots are FULL ON classic style and cool which is the only reason I would pay so much for them and put in the effort to break them in before I have to wear them hiking/touring Iceland. They really are awesome. Just hoping as others have said that the stiff leather that rubs the back of your heel softens over time and effort!

These boots are aesthetically exactly what I was looking for. However, if you have high arches, there is no arch support. There is a cushioned bottom so they are fairly comfortable besides the arches. There are plastic inserts included, but they did not work for me. I would not buy these if you are looking for something with extreme support, comfort, and overall performance for hiking and backpacking. But if you are just looking for a good boot to wear for everyday and the occasional hike, these are really nice! They are very well made and the sole can be replaced so they will last you a lifetime.

The first time I tried the boots on, I found them to be very uncomfortable - stiff leather, bulky tongue, hard/flat sole. It felt as though the boots were missing the insole. After reading many reviews' most of which were positive, I decided to give the boots a try. I've worn the boots several days now, walking a couple of miles per day and I haven't encountered and blisters, pain, or fatigue in my feet. I wore the boots one day without the orthotic inserts and they are definitely more comfortable with the inserts than without. Overall, the boots are very well made and I hope to use them for a long time.

Looks wise these are the boots of my dreams, been looking for them for a long time. I bought these boots a 1/2 size smaller as stated by other buyers who say they stretch out over time. My advice is buy your normal shoe size, I am often in between a 10 & 9.5. Still unsure as they need more breaking in if that was the right choice. They keep my feet dry and are supper comfortable aside from the way they rub on my achilles after awhile of wearing, hoping this goes away with time and wear. The down side... Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but the tongue on my left boot likes to go sideways which is super annoying and I feel as though it makes the back rub on my achilles even more. Debating sending them into Danner to see if they can do anything about that. The right boot is on point and tongue stays in place. Think before you buy this boot, go somewhere to try them on, they are a major purchase. And don't forget to condition these boots, the clear conditioner by Danner is great.

These are gorgeous boots. I absolutely loved the looks of them, but unfortunately sent them back because of the stiffness and lack of comfort. I ordered 2 different sizes hoping one of them would be perfect, and sadly neither one worked out for me. The leather around the ankle is very stiff. They rubbed blisters just walking around in my house with boots socks. There would be no way to tolerate them on a hike. They will require a lot of breaking in for anyone who decides to love them.

I only just received these and I know that they supposedly have a long break in period, so this is only a preliminary review. The boots are beautiful and beautifully constructed. Nice and thick leather all around, the lining also appears to be very high quality. I don't think that anyone could suggest otherwise. Where I think some people might run into problems is with the fit. I normally wear a size 9 women's and ordered a 9, which seemed too big (I had heel slippage right away just wearing the boots at home), so I exchanged them for an 8.5. The 8.5 seems good lengthwise but the toe area is very cramped, to the point that my toes and the balls of my feet tingle. This is probably because they aren't getting much circulation (not good). However, I am going to roll the dice with Danner and keep these boots in the hopes that they break in as promised and the toe area expands to accommodate my toes. The most painful part of the break in process so far has been the achilles. Just from wearing them at home for about an hour my achilles was already in pain. I suggest protecting your achilles with extra layers of socks until the boots break in. Am curious to know what others think of these boots. They are new to the market and almost no reviews out there yet.

Cute boots, true to length, and great quality material and craftsmanship, but narrow in the toebox and no arch support. Also no removable insole, so are way to tight once you add an insole.

I normally wear a size 10 in hiking boots. My last two sets were Asolo full leather but I needed something more supportive so tried the Danner Mountain Lights. I really like the appearance but unfortunately they feel a size too small. The toe box seems too narrow for a hiking boot so I didn't try a larger size. I did try the boots on with a medium cushion hiking sock. I also am testing Limmer women's lights - a boot with similar support. I would recommend Limmer to people needing a sturdy, supportive hiking boot with a more generous toe box.

I really wanted to love these! I read every review, debated forever, and finally pulled the trigger. They are sadly not at all what I need in a hiking boot, other than looking adorable. The way the tongue folds as a gusset creates a bulky lump that gets more and more uncomfortable the longer I wore them. (It's possible my feet are weird or I received a defective pair, but I don't think so.) Maybe some day I'll try them again, they are SUPER cute. I also prefer better ankle support when hiking, so I'm probably better off having found a more serious boot.

I read most of the reviews. I love these boots but I have to agree that the back above the heel is stiff and uncomfortable. I am returning them as I don't have the time to "break them in". no arch support but they do provide a insert. I am returning as for the cost, I feel they should fit comfortably without having to have my heel suffer in the process.

It says this shoe runs a half size bigger. Not true, it’s 100% true to size. I need to go back to my size 9s. I’m sad that these didn’t fit because I loved them so much the moment I opened the box.

NOT a hiking boot. Popular as a fashion boot but I wanted an actual hiking boot for an alpine trek. NOT this boot! Returned.

These boots are a fashion statement only. My first pair of "hiking boots" were Danners back in the 1970's. There were very few choices then and they gave me blisters. In those days we were told we had to "break in" our boots. That's a ridiculous idea now. If you want the look then go ahead and buy them but seriously, not if you plan to hike.

DON'T BUY THESE BOOTS! I am so hugely disappointed. I have never spent more money on a pair of boots ever--but the cute style and cute style blogger who assured me these were comfy and warm for a trip to Iceland convinced me they would be wonderful. I was advised to wear them around the house to break them in and then take to the great outdoors. I am usually a 9, sometimes 8.5 in boots. A 9 in a sneaker, sometimes an 8.5. I can be an 8 or 8.5 in a shoe. I bought the 8.5--sent back--too big, the slippage hurt my heel. I bought the 8, wore them around the house, bought and used the conditioner several times, got the 1/2 insole from Danner and kept thinking...I hope these break in. When I finally decided to walk 2 miles in them to really break them in I ended up with red, raw, bleeding blisters on the back of my ankles! I can't return them now since I wore them outside. Maybe the 7.5 would have been better, but I've never been a 7.5 and the boots 8 didn't feel big. $360 down the drain....I will never buy anything Danner again and neither should you. I'm probably going to have to spend more $$ for a soft comfy, supportive pair of Merrells!
