I have been wanting a pair of tall leather boots for a long time. I had told myself a couple years ago that this was a fad that would pass. I never thought I had big calves until I started trying to buy a pair of boots. These not only fit my calves but were also gorgeous. I wanted a pair I could use with multiple looks and these were it! They have been comfortable since they got out of their box. I did wear them around the house to stretch out the right one and when it came to zipping them up over a pair of jeans, they made it. I normally wear an 8 in almost all shoes, but I kept the 7.5 in these. I have a narrow heel, so I was having a hard time with slip on boots. These fit perfect to hold my foot in place and are not tight.

I ordered Melissa Tab Tall & the Melissa Tall Riding, both size 6 and Camel. I'm 5'2", 107#, slim legs & ankles, & wear 6.5 shoe but 6 in all Frye boots (except Phillip styles - they run short). Both styles fit well in the foot and shaft. The Riding seems a little narrower in the shaft, but they both measure 14.5". It might be because the split in the back is slightly wider on the Tab. The camel color on the Tab has a rich auburn look, while the Riding has a more golden tone. Leather is soft on both. The Riding is a little plainer than the Tab, which has those signature Frye studs. Both are great looking boots! But I'm leaning more toward the Tab style - it's just gorgeous in style and the Camel color is beautiful!

In 2014, I bought my girlfriend the Frye Dorado Buckle riding boots (black, brown, and the discontinued smoke colors). She loves those boots so much, she couldn't believe all the compliments she got from her friends, family, co-workers...even complete strangers. This year, I looked for the next sexiest style of Frye boots, and was instantly attracted to the Melissa Tab Tall boots. I ordered the black, redwood and burnt red versions for my lady, and she absolutely loves these boots. With the cool weather just around the corner in the Northeast, she can't wait to start wearing these on a near daily basis. Just a little breaking in, and they now fit her perfectly, like a 2nd, sexy skin. As a guy who loves seeing attractive women ages 25 - 55 or so in very beautiful, stylish boots, I have to tell you ladies, men will love seeing you in these gorgeous boots...trust me!

These are absolutely beautiful boots - the leather is great and the style is classic. The fit is almost perfect. I have narrow (less than 13" circumference) calves, so the boots are a little wide around my calves, but not to the point where it looks bad. They feel a little tight, especially after I put arch support inserts in, but I can tell after three wears that they're going to stretch out to be perfect, like nice leather should. I have had no issues with the zipper. My only complaint is that the soles are smooth, flat leather (unlike my Melissa tall lace-ups, which have nice tread) and get a bit slippery.

Ordered my usual Frye size of 8.5. Fits perfectly. I am in sales and am on my feet 10 hours a day with a wide per foot and a smaller calf. At 5'6" and 125lbs, this 16.5" shaft height comes just to the bottom of my knee perfectly. This will be my new fall go-to boot. Firm, sleek leather a little stiff, but once broken in, it is that leather that makes them wear so well. Another winner from Frye.

I've been living in these boots since the day I put them on which speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of them. The leather is stunning, they are a perfect height (I'm 5'8" with fairly long legs) and they are comfortable for walking or spending a whole day in with no problem. Worth every penny.

I love the reddish tint to the leather & the zipper makes them so easy to put on and take off. They were a little narrow at first, but have become more comfortable after wearing them.

I bought these beauties in my normal 7.5 size and they fit like a charm. Absolutely gorgeous boot. Just as other reviewers mentioned, they do buckle/wrinkle slightly around the ankle area, but they did not dig into my heel or feel painful in the slightest. I am very pleased with my purchase and own several pairs of Frye boots so I know they will maintain and last for years to come.

I have been wanting a pair of Fryes for ages but always struggled with a pull-on style as I have an athletic calf. The Melissa Tab Tall are a beautiful color, very well made, were very comfortable from the first time I put them on, and of course have a full zipper which makes them easy to put on even over jeans. My only caution to other buyers would be that they are indeed very tall and on me come right up to the base of my knee cap; if they were even a half inch taller I don't think I could wear them. For reference, the distance from the base of my foot to the bottom of my knee cap is 16 inches, so if your leg is any longer than that you may want to consider a different style.

I do not know how many different styles of Frye (and other brands) boots I ordered in my search for the perfect black riding boots. The Melissa Tab Tall were the keepers. Simple design, beautiful leather, out of the box comfortable. I am pretty much a true size 7 but ordered both a 6½ and 7 in these boots. With socks, the 7 fit bests. I love that there is a side zipper - my Frye Lindsay Plate boots are a struggle to get off. I highly recommend them.

I love these boots. They are beautiful and comfortable. I'm very leggy, so I was really happy to find boots that don't look stupidly short. The redwood color is rich and lustrous, and the boots were fairly comfortable right out of the box. I'm sure once they break in, they'll feel like slippers. I find that Frye boots are almost always a half-size big on me, but this was an exception - I got my usual shoe size.

I bought these boots last winter so I've worn them one season. They have been extremely comfortable from the start and look just as good as when they were new. I purchased my usual size 8 and the fit is great. For reference, I also wear an 8 in the typical Carson ballet flats. I can't wait to wear them again this winter and I plan to purchase them in another color.

I absolutely love these boots. I have had Frye shoes in the past and know the quality is excellent. These boots were no exception. I bought them for a trip to Ireland where I knew it would be wet and I would be walking a hiking a lot. That's exactly what I did. After 16 days in Ireland, which included hiking Slea Head, the Cliffs of Moher, and Slieve League my boots now fit my feet perfectly, the soles have developed nice traction, and the leather still looks perfect. I did buy Dr. Scholls insoles to provide some cushion for the walking and hiking. With those in, they fit a little tight at first but now fit my feet like gloves. The support of the leather for my ankles really helped with the hiking, and on top of it, I looked great! I received many compliments and never felt uncomfortable walking into any establishment after a day of sight seeing.

If only my leg below the knee were just 1" longer, these boots would have been perfect. They are the most beautiful (an expensive) boots I've ever owned. The leather feels like satin and the color (camel) is rich. I am still trying to decide whether I should keep them or not. Top of boot just below kneecap but not uncomfortable with jeans or leggings tucked in. These boots make me long for a horse of my own. I appreciate that Zappos makes returns so easy. Not true of other online shoe places.

These boots are beautiful. Hopefully they are worth the expense! I do think that they are a bit narrow and a bit long (meaning my heels slips a bit). Then again my foot falls between a regular width and a wide width so I'm usually on the outs with sizes.

These are beautiful boots! I am usually a 10 1/2...the 11 fits great. I love how the boot fits my leg. I am a 6 foot tall, skinny legged woman and usually the boot is too big around my leg. These fit great.

These are beautiful boots and comfortable the first time I wore them. I have narrow feet (size 6 1/2) so I don't think they would fit if you have wider feet or large calves. Zappos is such a find for someone with hard to fit feet! The boots arrived the day after I ordered them - talk about customer service.

I love these boots. I have to have zip up boots because of my high arches and own another pair of Frye which I didn't have problems with but with these, the neck area is just a bit tight. The first time I put them on I had to wiggle and wrangle one of my feet thru the space but that has loosened up a bit. They fit close around my calf which is 14.5 inches around.

I ordered these in Redwood and the Melissa Button in Dark Brown, and I have decided to keep these and return the Melissa Button. Both feel about the same in terms of foot width and circumference, but the Melissa Tab Tall are about an inch taller. In the mirror, the difference of the inch, as well as the level top (the Melissa Button has a v-shape at the top), makes these boots and your legs seem slimmer and longer in perception. For reference, I am 5'8" and have average-sized calfs. The boots come to the back of my knees, so they might be too tall for some. I got these in 8½ and they fit true to size. For context, I also have the Paige Riding boots and Melissa Trapunto, both in 8½.

I have been eyeing these boots all fall. They are gorgeous. I was torn between ordering the camel or redwood pair. I went with the redwood thinking it would be more versatile. This boot is definitely a more slender style. I always wear a size 8, and have never had to size up or down. I am very low arches and need support. The footbed for this pair is comfortable for me since it hugs my foot. The fit is a little snug in the calves. My calves are "average" and measure about 14.5 inches. I measured this pair at 15 inches. I can wear skinny jeans in them snugly right now, but I'm confident the calves will loosen up with wear as most quality leather boots do. I don't mind new boots being snug at first, but I don't buy into the whole painful break in period that many people say is necessary. I recommend these boots, but they probably won't work if you have wide calves or wide feet. Other Frye boots that I have purchased: Paige Riding, Jane 14L, and Veronica Shortie.

I have been looking for a tall, classic, timeless, no buckle style for several months now. I am 5'3" 108 and 6.5 shoe. I have smaller calves (12.5 inches) and shorter legs with longer torso. I tried the Melissa button, Melissa tall, Paige tall, all of which swallowed my leg. The Melissa tall was very close to being a winner but the leather around the ankle really rubbed initially and I knew it would not soften up. These are beautiful boots and fit great! I have just a little bit of room at the top for a tall sock and it does not look like A kid playing dress up in their mother's boots. The camel color is rich and golden with a tad of auburn in it. The inside zipper makes them a breeze to get in and out of. If you are on the fence, these are definitely worth a try! Love Zappos for their outstanding customer service.
