I ordered these boots primarily because the selection of boots that are above the ankle, but not halfway up the calf, is pretty slim. They're not very attractive, but I wanted them mainly for long walks in the winter (waterproof & warm were a must!) and not to wear to work or on the town, so I figured it didn't matter that they weren't that cute. I usually wear between an 8 1/2 and a 9 1/2, so I ordered a 9 1/2 and a 10 to try, thinking that some extra space for wool socks would be nice. I could barely get my foot into either. The 9 1/2 and the 10 are the exact same length, the 10 is just slightly wider. The inside is very firm and wouldn't be comfortable for walking. I expected truer fit and higher quality from Columbia. Glad for Zappos return policy!

These are not very comfortable. Felt stiff and not soft and comfortable like I was looking for. I also thought they were more narrow than I wanted. I like a wide shoe but usually don't need wide in boots, especially ones that lace up. They were cute out of the box but due to comfort level, I returned them.

I bought these boots for a trip to Iceland in February and they were exactly what I needed. They were so comfortable that I wish I could wear them more often, but I don't have much of a need for snow boots in Los Angeles. They kept my feet warm and dry the entire time even during a snowstorm. Plus, the price is great. I usually wear a size 10, but I got a side 10.5 to accommodate the furry lining of the boot and my wool socks

This is perfect! I run through all the reviews and get a half size larger then usual. My size is 6 and I pick 6.5, it fits me well except for a little spaces before my toes, but that's fine! It's stylish on my feet, and my boyfriend loves it! I will wear them to Alaska, can't wait!

I have an average 6.5 - 7 foot in terms of width and length and these are a snug size 7 with regular thickness socks on. That said, they are WARM on their own, but if I wanted to wear a thick sock I would send these back for a half size up. They come with a comfortable insole (which is the red-plum mentioned on the color options), but if I wanted to put in my own I might have to go up a full size.

These are so cute!! I am in love with them. I would suggest getting a half size up so that if you have thick socks on the shoes aren't too snug. Waiting for the snow to come so that I can truly test out their weather resistants.

I was looking for 3 specific things: 1. just above the ankle height (easy to put on and tuck my pants in to, tall enough to keep the weather out) 2. Good in the snow and 3. Cute and feminine (and black). 1. The height is just right, though I wish there were a velcro, elastic, or zipper closure. I'm a mom who's always running around and must frequently take the boots on and off, so the shoe laces are a bit of a hassle. The boots are stiff enough that even if I tie them loose it's still a little more trouble than I'd like, but not bad. 2. It's not winter yet, but they feel very sturdy and warm and I expect them to do great in this category. 3. I really like the look of these in the picture, but the toe area is rather wide, making me look like I have big feet. What I really wanted was a winter boot that looks like a fashion boot, and this is sort of an in-between look. When I look down at my feet all I see is the big rubber bulb of the toe, which almost prompted me to return them, but in the end I decided they were still cuter than the other options that fit my criteria.

I ordered these because I wanted an affordable pair of snow boots, and because many reviews said they ran narrow. Its very hard to find affordable shoes in narrow widths. I wear a 8.5AA, and ordered a 9. They are warm and waterproof, but still run so wide for me that my foot slips forward. I'm fairly sure that I can fix this with insoles, so I'm keeping them. Yes, they do have a boxy toe, but it's a rubber snow boot. Too short to tuck pants into and have them stay, but leggings look good. Overall they are okay. If I had more normal feet, they would be great!

I LOVE these boots. Needed a pair that would be great to wear for walking on slushy winter streets in the town where I live. Or for shoveling snow. These kinds of activities. I prefer a shoe with a 2" wedge heel. While I couldn't find that style in the winter snow boots category, I ordered 2 North Face pairs and these. (These, btw, were the least expensive of the 3.) I had a feeling I'd prefer the most expensive so was doubly pleased when the shipment arrived, (the next day, bravo to amazing Zappos!) and these seemed the best ones. I didn't want to be impulsive so tried on all 3 pairs several times over several days to be sure. This pair was far and away the keeper. They are just great. Very comfortable. A joy to walk in. Great arches. My feet stay warm and dry. (I wear Smart Wool socks, but the shoes are doing their job.) I just came back from a long walk into town. We had a major blizzard yesterday and the snow is so heavy, it's been hard for people to clear it. So there's a lot of slush. Plus it's warmer again today so it's all melting and there are puddle of water amidst the slush. It's a mess. Well, I soldiered along through those mushy puddles and up and over banks of snow. No problem. My feet stayed warm and dry the entire time. I just got in and decided I had to write a rave review right now!!! And I've had these all winter. Not like this was their maiden voyage. They have been great from Day 1 and still look and feel brand new. Great boots and crazy affordable.
