Ditto my comments for the medium sized No Matter What duffel. After my experience with the medium size duffel I thought the smaller version might be better as a carry-on bag. And it is. Perfect size for easy carrying through an airport and for an overhead bin on the plane. Great size for an extra set of clothes, jackets and valuables in case your checked bag gets lost. Still holds a lot of stuff but easier to maneuver on the plane than the medium size duffel. I've been using this duffel for about a year now. I agree with some other reviewers that Eagle Creek could tone down the logo but as for functionality the bag can't be beat. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

I used this little duffle for three weeks in Europe as my carry on. It was terrific. It holds a lot more stuff than
you'd think and was great to use to transport breakables back to the States. It is sturdy and the blue is very nice
and muted. I would definitely recommend it for many used.

This is my 5th Eagle creek duffel and we still use the one I purchased 26 years ago. We use all 5 bags when we make the annual trip from Australia to America. Bag is large enough to bring home a bike rack one year....

The bag is really well made and holds a ton of stuff. I'm going to buy a smaller size as a backup for extras.

Got this to travel to Yellowstone in winter. Heavy boots, jacket, lots of heavy bulky gear, etc. Going from South Florida 80 degrees to minus 10 degrees I had to take lots of stuff. I got the large size. There was plenty of room.
Since then I've traveled to Central America with it 3 times. Works well, but if not packed nearly full is a bit of a pain in the butt to lug through the airport because it tends to sag with out a backbone, a smaller one would be a better choice.

My husband used this bag on our recent African safari, and it was a perfect choice. It went through quite a bit of abuse, including international flights, and still looks new. It's incredibly lightweight, so you won't use all your weight capacity for the bag. Now it's folded up into a very small package until our next adventure. Great purchase!

Love Eagle Creek products. This bag is great! I've owned similar bags for years! North Face has nothing over Eagle Creek.

3 weeks in Africa on Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. This duffle is awesome. Carried a ton of stuff for the climb and safari. Thanks to the amazing porters our duffels went to 18,500' with us. They also handled the 3rd world airport experience without any problems. Came back to us in one piece, a little dirty but no wear or tear. Bullet proof. Buy this duffle!!

So much more convenient to roll rather than carry. Easy to store. A joy to travel with.

I'm writing in response to the numerous poor reviews. Maybe I somehow got a magic duffel, but scuffs aside (definitely has a few of those), my No Matter What has been through hell. From holding loose (and sharp) climbing gear, to being overloaded carrying all things necessary to live in the Vietnamese mountains for 4 months, to the top (and bottom) of a jeep in Kyrgyzstan in the dead of winter this bag has never let me down--even after 3 years of intense use. Wheels have been used on everything from dirt/gravel, to cobblestones, to airport tarmac and they're just fine. No punctures, even when loosing packed with sharp objects. And definitely no complaints. While it says "water resistant," I've found that the bag keeps my things dry even in pouring rain.
I can only speak highly of this bag. The bag reviews must be flukes.

My family of four lives overseas and we have 3 of these bags which we love. In a small apartment it is great to have large suitcases that you can store easily. They are great quality and have already made several trips internationally! I love that they have wheels and are light weight. We would definitely recommend this bag to other expats.

I purchased this bag to transport some bulky, awkward-shaped items when I travel for work. It is even more durable and functional than I expected. The wheels are large and sturdy. A great hauling bag!

I purchased this for an extended field school (6 weeks) and was very happy to be able to fit everything I needed in this bag. The zipper design was a big selling point for me as well. I was worried about how well this would roll, but have encountered no problems with it.

Now I just need to give it a name!
Packed it to a very rainy event in the forest recently and it kept my merchandise clean and dry
Took it on weekend car trips to see relatives, leaving room in the bag to bring stuff home
Had an indoor 8-hour event where I had to change into formalwear on-site. I got dressed and used this bag to store the non-formal things including a smaller bag: 2 shirts, jeans, baselayers, thick hoodie, denim jacket, 1 pair loafers, small backpack. After that, had ONE bag to keep track of, on a day with a million other things to do. Duffel is bright purple, which also means nobody could inconspicuously walk away with it.
I feel confident stuffing gear in there and throwing it into the back of my partner's old, rusty, abrasive pickup bed without worrying that anything inside will get dirty or gross. So I recently bought one for him too in a less conspicuous color. He will run it through his "man test" by strapping it to the tops of vehicles and taking it into the woods a lot.
It is a floppy bag, so if it's not full, it helps to pack things in a bundle shape to help keep structure
Cinch straps will secure a jacket or sweatshirt. The cinch straps tend to loosen faster than I'd like though.
Grab handle is padded so it's comfortable, but the snaps take a few extra seconds compared to Velcro closure. I know that's a good tradeoff though, considering Velcro doesn't last as long.
