I purchased them because I needed a warm waterproof hiking boot for the snow on rough terrain. They fit perfectly at half a size larger then I normally wear. I knew this from other Keen shoes I purchased before. They are lightweight and cozy. I'm perfectly happy. My feet stayed warm at 0 degrees even though I was wearing regular socks. You need some patience getting into them or out because of the ties. In my case I have to loosen them as far as the opening of the flap allows all the way to the bottom. On the flip side it makes for a snug fit around the ankle.

I was traveling to Antarctica and could not get into the rubber boots they suggested for the trip. I needed a boot with laces since I have a very high instep. We were doing water landings and would be walking on ice. I ordered these boots in a size 7and a half (I usually wear a 7) since I would be wearing a couple of pairs of wool socks. The boots were fantastic-comfortable and completely waterproof as advertised. I never got wet nor cold. These boots are perfect now too, since I live in Washington state and it is wet and cold.

Definitely order a half size up from your normal shoe/boot size. I normally wear a size 6.5 but these boots were way too snug in that size. I reordered the boot in size 7 and they are much more roomier and comfortable.

I looked at about 10 pairs of boots before settling on these. I wanted something warm, stable, comfortable for long walks with the dog in snow, mud, ice etc. These boots fit the bill on all accounts. They would be perfect if they were step in/out. It is more of a struggle in/out unless you go through the full loosen laces, and re-tie - but all the boots that were step in/out were missing the comfortable fit. They are good for long walks.

So far so good. I have been looking for a decent pair of stylish black snow boots for a while. These fit like a glove with great ankle support and a sneaker like feel. I was a little nervous when ordering these because I have wide calves but the ability to lace them up instead of slipping them on helps with that issue. However if you like to wear thick socks or have wide calves and want to tuck pants into them you may want to go a size further up.

These boots are awesome! Unfortunately, I had to return them because they were a tiny bit too small. I wear an 11 and there is no 11½ .Too bad, that would have been perfect. They are lightweight and comfortable. They are waterproof, too. They are perfect for New England winters.

Excellent arch support & feel sturdy navigating icy slick city streets. I purchased these purely for function: warmth, waterproof & great arch support. They're warm enough, but I've had other winter boots that were warmer. I have the black & honestly don't think the boot is that attractive, but certainly functional. They also held up as waterproof in slushy snow. I really loved a pair of Sorel's that were adorable & supposed to be waterproof but weren't, so had to return them & got these instead. Happy with my purchase, another reviewer mentioned that the tongue is more narrow than it should be & she's right. I happen to have lean chicken legs so it wasn't an issue for me, but I could see it being so for anyone with large calves. Also, my laces come undone a lot, which is annoying. But the amazing footbed & warmth trump all!

I finally got enough snow to wear this boot. It must be on the narrow side since I could wear it without too much problem. I have a narrow foot which makes finding boots extremely difficult. They kept my feet dry and warm. They feel very stiff, and I hope that will ease with wearing.

Love these boots! They are true to size, very sturdy, and have the Keen look I love so much. My only caution is that the rubber bottom doesn't come up as high as I thought, so they won't be the true snow boots I wanted, but they are great all the same.

I followed what others have said about the boot being not true to size -- and I agree. I'm a standard size nine and never have thought to order a 9.5, until I saw the reviews. I ordered a 9.5, and it's perfect. I'll be able to wear thick socks with these and all will be well. I should mention that I'm a bit narrow in width, an A to A/B, and these hold my foot just fine. I have a narrow heel and the boot isn't slipping with average-weight socks. Also, I love how easily I can put my foot in the boot and have it effortlessly tie up. In other words, you won't find yourself pulling and drawing upward with the laces -- they flow like a well-oiled machine. The traction on these, too, is very good. In the Finger Lakes region we need boots with traction! Not least, I love the look of these boots. They're ruggedly stylish. I'll wear them with jeans on the trail and to the restaurant!

I liked these, but ended up going with Merrells instead. Because they are lace up these boots made it likely that snow would get in, because the lining only goes up to the top of the foot! That is not great for walking in deep snow, but fine for walking in a little snow. They also looked just a little clunky. Aside from that, though, they were very comfortable and seemed to be built well.

So, first about me and my feet: I have the kind of feet that are narrow at the heel and wide at the toes. I have low arches. I expect my shoes to put in a full day's work. About these shoes: so far: satisfied. I ordered a 9, and they fit snugger than I would have thought, given that I buy shoes ranging from 8.5-9.5 US. But they fit. They look nice, but FYI the top trim section is a bit wider than you might think from the picture, mainly, I think, because the lacing doesn't extend to it, so that the trim "bells out" some. That being said, these boots still look decent under bootcut jeans. Outside of jeans, they are comfortable and practical-looking, which is true to the photo. In terms of wearing, they feel like sneakers with a top. Yay! Exactly what I was looking for, especially since they definitely look nicer than sneakers. For someone who lives in a city that's usually more wet than snowy in the winter, I think these will be great. I deducted one star because they feel like an 8.5 rather than a 9. I'm glad I aimed higher when I ordered them! However, they fit and feel fine despite two layers of socks.

I went a half size up because of the reviews here. They are too big. Also they look a little too military for my taste. They seem quite warm, though I didn't wear them outside. I'll be returning them. But thanks Zappos as always for getting them out to me in a snowstorm.

I am very disappointed - the boots are much narrower this year. There are hardly any options out there of good winter boots for people who do not have average narrow feet. Last year's Hoodoo was unique and special for people like me. I was going to buy a second pair - but this year's model rubs my ankle and squeezes my toes. I am very sad.

These boots are true to size and look good with my work pants (black polyester). Traction is good ONLY in the snow! Traction is TERRIBLE walking on wet floors, wet slate, wet asphalt, and ice! Yes, they keep my feet warm, but I'd sacrifice wearing a thicker pair of socks to be able to walk without slipping. For the price tag I wish for better traction on and off the thick snow.

Runs small. I saw another review that said runs small so I also bought a size 9. The 8.5 which is my normal size was too small. The size 9 which is half a size bigger than I usually wear was still too small since the top of the boot was pressing on the top of my big toe.

It's very difficult to put these boots on. The shaft is too narrow to tuck pant legs in. I found the boots to run small so order up at least a half size.

Very tight across the toes, which is so strange for a pair of keens! They were also far too thin for a winter boot to wear in deep snow and new England temperatures. The tongue is narrow, so would only provide good snow protection for very thin calves and ankles.. On the plus side, the soles and arches were great. I wanted to like this boot, I usually love keens, but they are going back.

These boots were cute but not comfy. I found them to be a little hard on the foot. I returned them.
