In a day and age where even the best brands are starting to skimp on quality; this boot is a refreshing entry. Make no mistake, this is a beefy, all leather mountaineering boot. It is lightly insulated and has a Gore-Tex liner. A pretty stiff, but reasonably comfortable boot out of the box. Expect some break in time to reach full comfort. Very happy with my purchase. I sized up 1 whole size to accommodate socks and allow for swelling at altitude.

These things do not bend! You can forget about trying to squat on the balls of your feet with them on. Might as well be wooden shoes from the Netherlands! Shank is so stiff, I doubt anyone has broken them in yet. Old wildland firefighter saying: "You don't break in your boots, you break in your feet." Total NO BUY in my opinion.

Boot feels true to size. I wear 9 1/2 or 42.5. Felt like I had 2mm space for my big toe. Just right for me. Boot is stiff, and ankle support is great. Nice to have when going over uneven rocky terrain. Vibram treads are superior! I went up some very steep rocks and the boots gave me sure footing. Lacing gives you ability to adjust over the top of the foot. There is some heel slippage, however my boots are still brand new so they may get better with more miles. Went through many small creeks and rivers up to 4 inches of water and inside of boot remained dry. They are waterproof! Used recommended treatment for leather which is the Nikwax. Very tough boot and I am glad to have them.
