All the reviews on these boots were great so I ordered the 8½ (I usually order a 9 in boots) and they fit. However, I am returning them because I found the toe box very large and almost clown shoe-ish. Which is a shame because they are super comfortable. The pic of the top of the shoe does not clearly show how round it is. Manly is one thing, clown is another. These are going back.

I'm very picky about shoes. I have every foot ailment known to man, from plantar fasciitis to Morton's neuroma (yeah, I'm old) so most footwear is rejected after just wearing it around the house for 20 minutes. If they poke, squeeze or smush, they're going back. But these Born boots? I'd marry them if I could. I put them on for my usual "test walk" through my house, and they were instantly comfortable. Encouraged, I decided to actually wear them outside of the house for a while. Three hours later: still comfortable. These boots have that 'broken-in' feeling...like I've worn them for years. Style wise, they're awesome. The leather is amazing...shiny and rich-looking. They're perfect with leggings or dresses. They have a lot of support in the sole and ankle which feels wonderful. My feet don't get tired or feel cramped. I find they run true-to-size. Maybe a teeny bit large, but not enough to order a half-size down. Just enough to be comfortable. If you want a pair of beautiful boots, or if your feet hurt...or both...I highly recommend these. And I will look at more Born shoes from now on!

Oh how I love these boots. I've worn them hard all winter and they're still in great shape. My orthotics fit in them and I can go all day -- in comfort. They have a little bit of a "Docs-lite" vibe to them: you get the tough, cool thing in a slightly more streamlined, lighter package. I would totally buy these again.

I love these boots. I had ankle surgery (ankle fusion) a year ago and I can not bend my ankle and these boots fit me perfectly. I have to pull the laces all the way out to get the boot on, but after tying them up they feel very comfortable. I can even wear my orthotics with them. They are as comfortable without the orthotics as well. They do run big, I normally wear an 8-8.5 but normally would have to get a size 9 to fit the orthotics but, the 8.5 works perfect even with the orthotic inside. The toe bed is very wide and comfortable. I purchased the brown color and they are classy. My husband loves them on me. I am even considering buying them in black. They leather is soft so scratches show up easily but can be buffed out or you can keep it to add character to the shoe. I have tried several different types or shoes and I highly recommend these.

I love these boots! They did run big - I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 but I actually got an 8 in these. They are long, and my feet are slightly wide and the width fit my feet without any pinching on the sides. I got the brown color and it is lovely - the leather is soft and the lining is nice and warm. The boots are lightweight and immediately look at home on your feet, break in time was almost nothing. I find that they look awesome with any skinny pants, and also with skirts, chunky socks and tights. Definitely give these a try if you are on the fence, and size down!

These are like clown shoes as another reviewer said. Having already returned shoes, I've kept them. I wear a size 7 and that is the size I ordered, but there is a good empty inch in the toe. They look dopey. Should have exchanged them for a smaller size, but I feared that could present new problems.

I absolutely loved these boots! Until after less than two weeks of wearing them the thin coat of leather covering the white plastic heel wore off. Not what I expected from such a good brand. I am very disappointed.

I love these boots! They are exactly what I was looking for. They are so cute and hip, and the rounded toe is not all "clownish" as was suggested by a previous reviewer. I do not like pointy toe shoes and all my shoes have rounded toes, and these are nothing different, not large or floppy in any way. They look exactly like the photos posted. I usually wear a 9 but so many reviewers said these run big that I ordered an 8.5. The 8.5 are a touch small, but I am working on wearing them in/stretching them out. I probably should have sent them back and ordered a 9, but was so excited about how cute they were when they arrived that I just wanted to wear them. With a 9 I would have been able to wear thick warm winter socks, and maybe add an extra comfort insole, like I do to most of my shoes. However, the 8.5 will be fine, I wear them with thin socks and will not expect to go on any very long walks with them (they have very little footbed cushion). They are absolutely adorable with cuffed jeans, super flexible and soft, and are not going to need much breaking in at all. I have given them a water proofing wax treatment as the leather is extremely absorbent even though the finish looks like it might be semi-water resistant (a drop of water will cause a dark spot immediately). This seems to work in light rain so far and will help the leather last longer. I am considering getting them in a size 9 as well because this is a style I always want to have in my wardrobe. Thinking about buying them? Do it!

I purchased these boots in Black last spring and I absolutely love them. Born boots tend to run wide, but as my feet are a little wider than the average B width I always find them comfortable. I can wear them for long periods of time and never have a problem with sore feet. Some people feel they look like clown shoes, but I don't find that to be the case. I am thrilled with these boots and am seriously considering purchasing the brown ones too.

These boots are the boots I've wanted all my life. I ordered a half size down and the fit was perfect. The arch support is a little more than I like (I prefer none) but I've gotten used to it. Some reviewers mentioned the boots being clowny, and I see their point. The toebox IS a bit rounder than the pictures are able to show, but I actually like that feature for both style and comfort. I walk between 3 and 10 miles per day and they've been great. A few things about weather. I bought these when I lived in San Francisco and they kept my feet warm every day (temp down to about 50 F) but not dry if I got caught in rain. They are NOT waterproof. Your feet will get wet in the lightest of rain (the manufacturer's website tells you this, but I missed that detail when ordering). However, the water didn't permanently damage the leather, which is a big plus. Now I live in Wisconsin and they are not adequate as cold weather boots. For me, they're appropriate down to about 30 F with warm socks. Any colder and there must be NO snow on the ground and I must be spending most of the day indoors/in a car. I haven't even tried them in snow because I know they won't perform well and I don't want to wear them out prematurely. In the end, even though I'm the sort of person who usually buys my shoes cheap and second-hand, I think these boots are worth it. I've always wanted a pair of combat-boot-inspired but still feminine and high quality boots, and these are it. My favorite part is there's no unnecessary zipper! Just laces! That's so hard to find. I've only had them for a few months so I can't speak to their longevity, but I've worn them often and they seem to wear well. I intend to care for them properly and wear them for at least 2 years, hopefully more.

First and foremost: these do not look dopey, frumpy, or clownish. They are punk rock meets professional. Look at your feet. Are they rounded? Hence the rounded toe box. I am in my late 20s. When I was younger my shoes were so cute But then I realized that the cutest shoes are painful, and if something is painful I will not continue wearing it. I bought my first pair a year ago, wore them into the ground and decided to buy a second. Why? They look good. I can wear these casual with jeans or with a dress and tights. I can walk in them all day and they do not hurt my feet. They are water resistant - not waterproof, but will keep your feet dry until it starts pouring or you step into a puddle. It is hard to find a pair of boots that meets all of this criteria.

I bought one black and one brown pair. I find them to be quite comfortable. I am a true sized 9 but got the first pair in and 8½ and the second pair in an 8, which fits perfectly. I tend to wear thick socks with the 8½. I cannot comment on how they wear yet because I have not had them too long, but I find them very comfortable for walking. As for the toe area, I have been looking for a more rounded toe boot and men's sizes are a bit too big for me, so I was really pleased when Born made these. They are a more masculine than feminine style, so if you are not looking for anything too masculine do not bother with these go for a pointier toe feminine style.

I love these boots--so much so that I own two pairs of them. I have a pair that I keep nice and shiny for work and one scratched up pair that I use all other times. I have wide feet, and these boots are ridiculously comfortable. They have a sleeker line than Docs but the same edge. They are far and away my current favorite shoes!

I love these boots! They dress up very well and also look good with jeans. I usually order a 7 but I ordered a 6½ based on the other reviews. The half size smaller fit perfectly. I wore these boots for days with a good amount of walking and found them to be very comfortable. I ordered the black and I am seriously considering also ordering the brown.

Great shoes from Born! As others have said, they run a little large- which for me is a good thing since i have wide feet and hate feeling smooshed in shoes. I got my standard 8.5, and do have extra room in the toe (lent them to my size 9 friend and they fit her great!). I maybe could have gotten away with an 8, but got them in a store and when I tried them on, they felt right so didn't try another size. I also have wide feet and appreciate the extra space- I wear these with wool socks just about every day. The lacing makes them feel secure and snug and the style is great with jeans, or leggings and skirts. The foot bed is a bit flat/hard, which I don't mind most of the time but felt it on the day I had to walk all over town dealing with car trouble-- so I'm thinking of adding some cushiony inserts (which should be no trouble since they are not too tight at all!). The leather quality is amazing, and the outsole is holding up great after a year of nearly-daily wear, they are showing no signs of falling apart any time soon. I recommend these boots!

This bootie is the most comfortable thing ever! The leather is incredibly soft and of beautiful quality. They were totally comfortable right out of the box, and it is really nice to be able to fine-tune the sizing with the laces. My only complaint is that it takes a minute or so to get them on and off. I wore them to work right after I pulled them out of the box and I am on my feet for hours, since I am a server. They feel like butter and are totally stable. They seem like they have been my shoes forever! Other reviewers have said that they look like clown shoes, but in my opinion the rounded toe Is what makes them uniquely funky and cute! And they are very streamlined around the ankle, so they are not masculine like a combat boots, even though they have a menswear attitude. Lots of compliments! My feet are happy! Got them in black for work, but I am definitely going to get that beautiful cognac color for everyday wear. Fantastic with skinny jeans, leggings or skirts! Highly recommend!

Wow! Right out of the box these boots felt great! Very comfortable from the start - didn't have to "wear" them in. I purchased another pair the next day. I have worn them to work and after 8 hours my feet still feel great. Comfy around the ankle. So very versatile, too. They are not for walking in rainy downpours or playing in snow! It is a simple and classic ankle boot. I should note re: width of boot - it is a narrow fit.

I love these boots. The fit was close to true - I went a 1/2 size down after reading reviews, but could have stayed in the 7 I usually get. They are very comfortable and I like the style. The brown is a rich color. Very cute with jeans rolled up. I'd recommend them anytime! Born boots are awesome. Zappos has great service as well.

These boots are awesome. They are sized perfectly for wearing a pair of boot socks with them. The leather is soft and supple and I love the wider toe box, perfect for wearing lightweight wool socks and still wiggling your toes. I've looked for boots like these for the last couple years I don't want zippers on my lace up boots! The only thing I miss is instead of eyelets to the top for lacing, they should have made the top two eyelets hooks. But I'm really happy with this purchase, ever after I think about how much I paid for them, I love them!

I love these shoes. They're not "clown shoes" as one recommender wrote, though they do have a roomy toe box (part of why I love them) and a kind of menswear appeal. They are hands-down the most comfortable boots of this style I've tried on (and I tried some Frye boots too). Total keepers. They feel great on my feet -- and I'm picky about that.

The toe box on this boot is round, thank goodness! It is so difficult to find a comfy shoe for my wider foot without going to orthopedic looking styles. The quality of the leather is lovely, I purchased the brown on sale last year and will probably spring for the full price in black because they are great and I am super-picky.

Super comfy and cute. Ran a little big...I'm usually a 10 but got a 9.5 md still have room for warm thick socks. Wore them the first time for a 10 hour day (a lot on my feet) and still felt good at the end of the day.

These are super comfortable boots. The toe box is a little clunkier than I would have liked, but overall the style is good and I like the fit (it is a little wider than most size 11, which is a good thing, as so are my feet).

Stylish! Comfortable! I love these boots! I have gotten so many compliments. These are great for work and outings. The leather is really superior. Beautiful color and feels so soft almost buttery. Goes with anything. Wonderful!
