I first looked into the Inov-8 Trailroc Series after talking to a shoe rep at an expo. I was looking for a trail shoe that had good grip on wet wood and rocks. I had a horrible spill off a wet wooden bridge using my otherwise pleasing Brooks Pure Grits, and I decided I needed a shoe for the elements. I must say after multiple runs through wet trails and braving the same wooden bridge, the Trailroc's do indeed have good grip. I chose the 245's because of the 3mm drop with the rocplate. I have been running with low differentials, but I felt that the 0 drop of the 235 would be too big a drop from what I was used to. The Trailroc's are light, comfortable and drain water very well. I just purchased a pair of road inov-8's since I liked these so much! They are definitely pricey, but they are worth it!

Couple of folks have posted that the shoe runs a size small. It's worth noting that the shoes is a minimal shoe and I think it's intended to be worn without socks. The tongue even has a picture of a bare foot on it to remind you. Without socks it's snug and won't fall off during a run - great shoe! With socks (even athletic socks) it won't fit. And socks will just prevent your toes from moving around - and what's the fun in that. Highly recommend this shoe - but leave the socks at home when you go out for a run.

After trying countless other options, this shoe delivered what I was looking for; a minimalist trail runner with underfoot protection, good traction and a wide toe box.

Was a little closer to size for me than my husband, but I tend to be between sizes occasionally. Read that these were a little wider than the other Inov-8 shoes, and I'm really happy in that regard. Great for Crossfit, awesome for on road and off-road runs, going to be sporting these for our Spartan Race on Saturday!

This shoe is excellent! I ordered a half size larger than I usually wear and they fit perfectly. I run and hike in these; the rock plate works well to protect from large rocks on trails, the soles are flexible and allow for a natural gait, and excellent grip on slippery rocks. They make a little clack when running on pavement, but this is only an observation not a complaint. This is a wonderful running and hiking shoe!

Great trail running shoes for all terrains. The tri-compound soles are sticky yet pliable and shed mud well too. The 245's are very light (245grams) yet comfortable considering zero drop. These are minimalist shoes, so you are going to feel the trail. The soles do provide cushion but if you come down hard and just right, you will feel rocks etc. The shoes are very durable. I put numerous miles and 2 Spartan Beasts on my first pair before a tear showed up. This is a natural fit shoe designed for people with wide feet. If you have a normal/narrow foot, these won't work for you. Go with Inov8 precision fit.

I got these shoes to use primarily for backpacking. I wore them around town and for walks for about a year to condition my feet to the "barefoot" feel and strengthen muscles not normally used when wearing shoes. Last weekend I put them to the test for a three day hike. A lot of the trail was boggy and marshy getting my feet wet a lot. I wore wool socks with them and changed out the socks as much as possible to keep things dry. The shoes performed admirably. Every step seemed to force water out of the shoe through the mesh uppers. I really felt the trail through the shoe, not in a bad way, and didn't suffer any problems even with the numerous tree roots and rocks along the trail. In the end I suffered no real blisters to speak of despite my feet getting wet regularly for a majority of the trip. The shoe also had great traction both on the wet moss covered rocks as well as the loose gravel and dirt on downhill portions of the trail. These shoes are great and I can't wait to use them on the next trip!

I also have the 235 (size 10.5) model. I bought the 245 (size 11) to use on a technical 50K Ultra. The 245 has a rock plate and a bit more heel support compared to the 235. I'm a big fan of the TR235, but I suffered a bit on long technical runs beyond 10 miles. The extra support and rock plate still make for an excellent mid-foot strike and minimalist shoe. A+ performance on the 50K with these shoes.

Shoes are great, but they run a half size small compared to other Inov8s I've worn. Offer strong traction & a little protection from rocks and roots but still offer the Inov8 minimal feel I like. Seemed a little stiff at first but I found them comfortable on a run from the get go.

These are fantastic shoes. I love my Inov-8 Mudclaws for mud runs but for just trail running these are great. I have wide feet and the fit of these shoes is very comfortable. I ran distance in them the first time I put them on and there was no need for breaking in. They were ready to go. They are light, easy to clean, have good traction and are very comfortable.

Just received these today. Shipping was fast. The shoes are great. I have the 195 Inov-8 currently. These 245's provide a little more support in the heel, which is what I was looking for in comparison to my 195's. The tread on the bottom of the shoes also provides more grip for running on gravel. The top of the shoe has a little more cushion as well.

Got this shoe for mud/obstacle racing and they're great! Super light, great traction, easy clean up. I usually wear a 9 in running shoes but got 8.5 because I don't wear socks with these as they're minimalist shoes and the fit was perfect. Do be aware, however, that because these are minimalist shoes, they don't have support.

These are the most comfortable pair of Inov-8 sneakers in my collection. I have the mud claw and road X inov-8 but I seem to reach for these first before any of the others. The size runs a little small. I'm usually a 9-10 but wear a snug 10.5 with these. I'd recommend these for basic trail running/walking/hiking, general indoor/outdoor training and for regular everyday activities. They are not built for wet/muddy conditions as my mud claws are but they stand up pretty while with everything else.

MUDD...that should get your attention. I purchased this shoe with an upcoming Tough Mudder on the way...having 3 orange headbands already I needed to renew the shoes. These are great on grip, minimal on comfort, and great on shedding water. I recommend them if you don't put a ton of emphasis on ride or cushion.

Very comfortable to wear, roomy toe box, lightweight mesh design. Drains water easily. Washes well. My feet run a little wide, so I was pleasantly surprised with the flexibility and give These are some of my favorite trail shoes.

These are some of the best shoes I've ever owned, bought them for the Spartan Super Race due to other reviews. Even bought a pair for the wife and she loves them too. After testing and training for the past month or so I'm really happy with this shoe, I'll definitely be buying another pair of Inov-8 and once these wear out I'll likely buy another of the 245.

Excellent fit and traction. I hike mountain trails (muddy/rocky) 2-3 times a week. The Trailrocs give much better traction and hold than any other footware I have used

I bought those shoes for trail running, and for their low profile. The tread is excellent and the shoes are great for trail. They are a little bit narrow but I did not get blisters. Normally I use a size 10, but for those shoes I had to exchange to a 10.5 for a better fit.

These are good quality shoes. I would recommend to get half a size bigger even though it is Inov-8's Anatomical fit, like I did. Especially if you are used to minimalist shoes with wider toe boxes. They provide decent cushioning for such a low profile shoe. Running on harder surfaces is not a problem. They grip well. There will be some slipping on muddy, steep hills. Wet grass or anything like that works just fine.

Bought these for Spartan Beast - on mile 3 I knew I had the right shoes. Whether in water, in mud, on gravel or rock, I had unparalleled traction. Climbing up and down the muddy hills was a piece of cake. Light and drain water very well. Highly recommended.

I got these and other than trying them on my first run in them was the Tri-State Tough Mudder. As soon as I put them on I knew it was a good shoe for me and was even happier at Tough Mudder. Great traction, light, snug but not tight and overall and awesome shoe. My 4th pair of Inov-8s and definitely my favorite.

I am an avid Mud Run/obstacle enthusiast. I believe the shoe market is behind in the manufacture of shoes designed for mud runs. Innov-8 is by far most advanced shoes when it comes to aggressive soles and sticky tread footing. I have a narrow heal and a high arch. I have not been able to wear Inov-8 shoes because they normally have an awkward fit for me. The usually have a low profile heal cup and a arch where the sole of the shoe does not make contact with the groud. The fit is always off for me until NOW. This shoe has an anatomical fit which is a much more friendly desgin. I have also purchsed the Trailroc 255 but returned them. The variations of this shoe indlude a variation of the mesh upper. The 245 is much more breathable and drains water much better than the 255 which a tighter wolven material. I found these shoes to have adequate cushioning and a totally awesome sticky grip under most adverse conditions to include mud, wet roots, wet footbridges and rock. One small concern is that after just several runs the toe protection material is beginning to peel away at the edges. Great shoe!
