Good materials and construction. Classic styling will go with pretty much any outfit. Some people might not like the lack of padding on the insole, but with some nice thick socks I find these perfectly comfortable. One complaint: for the price, it's too bad Frye is not making this boot in the USA.

These are the most uncomfortable boots ever. I wore them out one night after walking arounf the carpeted house for a few days. I never should have stepped out of the house becasue now I'm stuck with overpriced boot that are going to good will. I'll never purcahse a pare of Frye again - an expensive lesson. Wish appos would take them back and send them to Frye, cause I can't use them.

Beautiful boot, easy to put on, am returning it for a half size larger. The toe area is narrow and there isn't much space for room if you are wearing socks of any thickness. For comfort would recommend a half size larger if you have a wider foot.

Good quality. Color has a gray tint to it. Haven't tried polishing to black yet. A little roomy around ankles, went down .5 size. Good so far...hoping they get better as they break in.

This boot is nice, seems well made, but the one odd thing is the heel cup is not lined; the whole inside of the boot is lined with top grain, smooth leather with the exception of the heel cup; it is unlined, rough and uncomfortable when rubbing on the heal of my foot. For this reason I had to return the boot.

Excellent quality. Nice comfort. Maybe fit a quarter size larger than expected. Made in Mexico. Soles are NOT leather but are a synthetic that looks and feels EXACTLY like the real thing - probably the best idea in shoes. All the feel of leather soles (excellent for dancing) but the water resistance of a synthetic. Very nice. Glad I bought them.

Overall extremely happy with the investment in these classic Chelsea boots. These are more urban, not like clunkier Frye men's boots, and with polish can pass for dress shoes. If you usually wear wingtips or loafers for work, these are more comfortable and their slender profile can pass with tie and jacket. They take some patience (or steaming) to break in (I have a wide foot), and I was unimpressed with the casual, distressed look so had to polish the oiled leather a number of times before they would take a shine. Inside, they are soft glove-leather lined, with nicely padded and cork-lined foot bed that is extremely comfortable. I m not a fan of leather soles, so had rubber taps put on and now wear all the time with tie and jacket or casually. Incidentally, in a downpour, the boots were quite water resistant (unlike loafers), and though the leather sole did saturate, my socks stayed dry. I shopped a number of Chelsea boots and these are more traditional, with a less boot-like profile, than most other brands. I own Frye engineer boots, which are very rugged, but these are more streamlined and softer. Not one of Frye's U.S.-made boots, but an excellent product that I'm happy with.

Nice looking boots of high quality leather. Require strenuous brushing before first wearing to remove white waxy substance. Soles are very slippery until they get scuffed up. True to size.

Beautifully-made and comfortable Chelsea boots. The shape is classic -- not too boxy, and not too pointy. Construction and materials are outstanding. If you normally wear sneakers or training shoes, you will find the leather sole uncomfortable at first. There is not any cushioning, but, as the boot breaks in -- after a few daily wears -- it becomes very walkable, and provides a great deal of support. The finish is faux-distressed, which doesn't really work with a suit, but you can easily polish these black.

I like my pair of Frye James Chelsea boots. Once they are broken in a bit, they are very comfortable. It is also not evident that you are wearing Chelsea boots with the low profile.

My search for this type of boot for my husband lead me to Zappos. He loves these boots and Zappos has demonstrated the utmost in customer service and niceness. Thank you, Zappos. I will be back.

Really nice boot. I've received lots of compliments on them. I do reccomend a pair of insoles for these as they are very firm.

Overall, I like these boots. The color is not true to the picture - the pair I received are a lighter shade of brown - however they work okay with jeans and khakis. I wore them all day (10-12 hours) every day this week, and walked and stood around a lot at a convention. Whilst, tired, my feet were not sore, and generally speaking felt pretty well supported. A little expensive, but in long term I think will be good value for money.

I agree with another reviewer that the toe area is narrow for sizing. In other ways the boot is sized well and might be too large for me in a larger size. If it fit well it would need to break in.

Pleased. They are quite low profile for Fryes which I usually find to be kind of big and clunky. The toe is nice and slim. The quality is fantastic. I last owned a pair of Timberland Chukkas in size 12. They always felt a little big so I went for 11.5 in these and the fit was perfect. Sole is comfortable and after a a good long period of wearing in they conform to my feet very nicely and are comfy overall. Even though they are relatively low pro, they still are a little big, and I'm not sure if they work with very slim fit pants yet. They are moderately water resistant. I've owned John Varvatos and they always leak like crazy. These are better in that you won't get wet until the water soaks through the leather. Overall about as good as it gets for non-waterproof leather boots.

Not as comfortable as I had hoped, but I have a lazy desk job, so not a serious issue. They arrive with a heavy protective coating, so you basically have to polish the heck out of them to get a medium luster. Probably my least favorite among my otherwise 5-star orders from Zappos, but that's because I'll have to buy aftermarket insoles to get more comfort out of these.
