Insanely comfortable, light, well-built hiking shoe. I have the gray-on-black version, which doesn't scream "hiking boots" and looks more like a casual shoe. Great arch support, wide toe box, study sole. High-quality insole. No heel slippage. Grippy tread (which squeaks a little on wood floors if that's a problem for you). Size fits as expected (US sizing). These have 1,000s of great reviews at REI, not sure why they're new to Zappos.

I don't understand how people can wear this shoe. It is a perfect, comfortable, lightweight shoe in every way except one. The spot where the bottom of the tongue is sewn into the top of the shoe is a disaster. They sewed it in the middle instead of around the edges like everything else that's ever been sewn before, leaving a piece of stiff fabric literally hanging into the middle of your shoe and rubbing the top of your foot as you walk. It's like if you took a perfect shoe and stuck a big giant woodchip on top of your foot while you wear it. What a disaster on an otherwise glorious shoe.

Have only wore them about 4 different days now, slightly stiff and squeaky on interior flooring but to be expected with a new shoe. After day 4 already breaking in nicely and seem to have good footing on a couple of simples walks on trails. No strange foot aches with the arches and no premature failures of seams, but have not given them a rigorous test yet. Living in Alaska and going through many shoes in my past, initial review of these shoes is trending in a positive direction.

Just what I was looking for in a lightweight hiking shoe. Good space in toe box. No issues with tongue stitching area in shoe as reported in other reviews. I have high arches and high instep so while my foot is a 10 1/2, I typically go 1/2 size larger and these size 11s fit perfectly.

Love the shoes and i have many Oboz. I do have to say, though... the tongue on this shoe is a bit obtrusive. Not enough to send them back, but it's a little bothersome inside the show after wearing them. Rubs the top/outer side of my foot.

My second pair of these shoes not because they wore out, but because I wanted a second color! So comfortable for hiking trails and for everyday.

I have really enjoyed these shoes, very light weight and nice out of the box feel on the foot.

I used to be a Keen fan until they changed the manufacturing process. I discovered Oboz and never looked back! The Arete Low are PERFECT for me. I usually use a custom arch support for flat feet but they aren't needed in these shoes. Out of the box they were comfortable and supportive. I've had these for two months now and I'm considering buying another pair to alternate so they will last me longer. I couldn't be happier with these shoes.

Fit was true to size for me. I didn’t have any issues with the tongue area sewn into the shoe. Have been wearing for over 2 months now including some long hikes in Snow Canyon, Zion NP and the Grand Tetons. Occasionally wear them without socks and all the inner linings and seams are very comfortable. I’m happy with the purchase and would buy this brand again.

Everything about this shoe was really great, with one exception. The side height of the shoe does not have adequate clearance for my lateral maleolus/ankle bone clear as I walks. Each step that I take rubs this boney structure, thus making them useless as a walking shoe. I have-not had this difficulty previously with other shoes. This is unfortunate, as I otherwise very much like this shoe design and function.

Decent shoe, but felt kind of cheap. And as another reviewer reported, where the tongue is stitched to the front of the shoe there was very uncomfortable rubbing. I don't have perfect feet, so for others it may not be noticeable. Decided to return.

I love my Oboz Sawtooth low cut hiking boots and expected to feel the same way about the Oboz Arete Low. As other reviewers have mentioned, the design and sewing of the tongue makes this shoe impossible for me. The edges are sharp and irritate with each step. So disappointing, as the shoes is perfect in every other way.

size and fit fine, however, extra material at the base of the tongue was stiff and irritated the top of the foot. Had to return.

Just over a year of very light occasional use, and my sock is visible through the top.
