Took these shoes to Nepal for a multi-tasking trip and they were an excellent choice. The trip was business (visiting artisans' homes, offices, factories), pleasure, and adventure (jungle treks, elephant ride, dugout river canoe trip) and these shoes look and feel like Day One. Good support, durable, stay relatively dry, and the color is nice too. I find the lace-slide easy to close but difficult to open if the shoe isn't half way on (only presents a problem when taking shoes on and off frequently). I liked the laces hideaway - without it the toggles bounce around too much. I usually wear an 8 1/2 in this type of shoe (usually Merrell). This is my first Salomons. The size 8 is very roomy at the toe.

This is the third pair of Salomon's I have owned. They are comfortable out of the box and durable. I have found these true to size (same as street shoe). I love the speed laces with the "garage" to store the toggle at the top of the tongue. Plenty of room for my toes to wiggle while keeping secure around the rest of my foot.

I purchased these shoes as a gift for my wife for hiking. In the past she has been happy with Salamon X Wings so I thought that Synapse model will be okay. However, after several hikes she found the shoes to be too narrow causing her blisters on both feet. Too bad since the shoes look great. Unfortunately, they are not good fit for wide feet.

These shoes have excellent arch support and I really wanted to like them, but they are too narrow. I ordered the wide but they are the same width as a normal width shoe. When comparing them to my other running shoes (brooks and mizunos, they were significantly narrower. I'll be returning them.

Nice light summer hiking shoe. Very supportive and comfortable. Works with my orthotic inserts. Not as wide in the toe box as you would like on a W width though.

I have the Synapse in both the gray and the blue. Salomons are my preferred hiking shoe and these are now my favorite. The Salomon Synapse was worn when the through hiking record for the Appalachian trail was broken. The toe box is a little wider than the Salomon Crossmax trail runners since they are made for fast hiking (or leisurely hiking) and this prevents my toes from feeling squashed. The shoes are lightweight. comfortable and supportive. The traction is very good, in fact it has greater traction than the current line of Salomon low hikers such as the Tiana (I also own) and Exit models. My significant other has the men's Synapse in the greenish color and he loves them. He tried other low hiking shoes at local stores and none were as comfortable as his old Salomons so he ordered the Synapse as well. Many people have given up both compliments on our shoes since they are generally not sold locally they are unique and stylish. I can color coordinate my Salomons to my outfit. I use the Synapse typically only for hiking and I admit I have a Salomon fetish. I love Salomons owning the Salomon Crossmax neutral in every color they make for women and other Salomons. I highly recommend the Salomon Synapse low and I hope Salomon continues to make them for years to come.

The length and width, at the front of the shoe fit great. The heel is too loose. I wish there was a way to make the back of the shoe tighter. Overall the shoe is fantastic for the beating it takes during my workouts.

I ordered wide width. The shoes were too narrow for me. The arches on the outside of my foot were too elevated. I returned this item.
