Love this day pack! It has been on many hikes from Mountsins of North Carolina to trails in Alaska. It is lightweight and comfortable. It can carry two water bottles and I even attach my trekking pole to it. I would surely purchase it again!

I love this pack for day hiking & biking! It worked great in Acadia National Park when I hiked mountains that required food, map, medication/first aid, pullover, and two 24 ml water bottles. I also carried drawing & weaving stuff that I used along the shores of Acadia and appreciated the waterproof construction. I like having water bottles in outside bottom pockets but know that you can't reach them with the pack on due to it being a smaller pack. The material of construction is all high quality and seems to be the same quality as larger packs. The number of compartments (2 large compartments w/multiple pockets) worked well in organizing my stuff. I look for the straps to hold up well over time. The zippers are of high quality as well. There are a few extra pockets & straps with hooks. Like all Osprey packs, it is built with good ergonomic structure to keep the weight from pulling downward. I had wished that the belt was padded a bit like the shoulder straps but that didn't end up making a difference in comfort. The waste strap was fine. I liked the additional chest strap. I struggle with low back pain and had no issues caused by the pack. It was fully comfortable & functioned well. For those of you who like prints & unique colors, I purchased the Magnolia Print in Jubilee Blue. The blue is kind of a slate muted blue. It's pretty & fun! They had other colors & prints I considered too. If you backpack alone, this pack is not large enough for overnight trips. I also think it's not quite large enough for today's high school/college students who carry at least 3 books, notebooks, computer, & backpack. It may be fine for elementary students if their 3-ring binder fits.

This would almost be a perfect day pack but it lacks one feature that would be a super easy update, the front zipper stash pocket that's on the Daylite plus. Please make this update!!!

This is an all around great pack. Handled all the cold weather gear and food needed for an extended day hike, as well as working perfectly as a "must be stowed under the seat in front of you" pack. Would definitely recommend this model to someone who wants a well designed, versatile, small day pack. Even has a built in whistle!

Needed a small daypack with hip/chest straps & reservoir compatibility; this fit the bill at a decent price. It has definitely served that purpose, but I find that the construction of the bag's outer pocket leads to an awkward void of space in the middle of the bag that I can never seem to fill! It's as if there's a weird constriction right around the center of the bag. While it can fit A LOT (two laptops, two jackets, pound of beef jerky & bars, ...), I can't seem to figure out a way to pack it so that I maximize all the useable space.

Great product, comfortable on the back, great price for value, lots of places to attach things like carabiners, helmets, water bottles, sturdy. Keep it close, my family has had to buy 4 since we all kept stealing the only one!

It's a gift for my wife. The Daylite looks great, is lightweight, has good space for ocassional hiking and perfect to be a secondary backpack for camping for us (small stuff). Pretty good constructed. That's what we need in our location.

I did a ton of research before buying this, so I was very solid on the purchase. I recently bought a Fairview 40 bag and wanted a daypack to use with it. I know Osprey uses great materials and components, so I was very comfortable buying this bag online. Unfortunately for me, the top integrated grab handle intensely digs into the neck when worn. I even weighted down the bag with a couple books to see if the bag needed extra weight to be more comfortable, and hopefully to pull the top handle further away from my neck, but it didn't. When researching the reviews on this bag, the grab handle didn't seem to be a big issue for people. Comfort from the get go is a definite for me. Especially since I work so hard for every cent I make. I am sending the bag back and I would definitely hesitate to buy another Osprey that has an integrated handle at the top like this one does.

I just picked up my Osprey Day Pack and put it to use on it's first adventure. I really like the color scheme. The quality of material is great I really like the key holder inside the bag, the straps, and the back padding are great and super comfortable. There was a couple of cons. The first is that there are alot of straps and there really long but that's just my take on it. The other is the zipper tab I feel like it should be made of more sturdy material or thicker and it would also be nice to tuck away the zipper tabs so there not out in the open. The size was also a bit bigger than I thought but that's a personal preference but, overall it is a good quality bag that I've been wanting to buy for a couple years after using it on a trek in Cinque Terre, Italy when a friend let me borrow it and I feel in love with it it was so comfortable and quality of the bag is great but overall I'm super excited to take with me on many more adventures to come.

I purchased this bag earlier this week after being on the lookout for one for awhile. I found it small at the start but there is lots of room for a jacket, drinks, and lots more.

I've had this pack for a little over a year. I purchased it specifically for short, close-in hikes and jaunts with my kids. It has worked marvelously and as I've adjusted my gear for all-day hikes, I've been choosing the Daylight more and more (as opposed to my Sirrus 24). Unfortunately, like others have pointed out, the side pockets are of poor design. Doesn't matter if it's my Nalgene bottle, my Contigo, or my trusty Stanley coffee cup, nothing stays. Sure, I can use the straps to hold it in, but then I can't access my water on the go without my hydration pouch, which is overkill for my original purpose. I do wish this had the stow on the go trekking pole loops. Still, I do love it as a whole.

Osprey nails all the details in this simple daypack. I've used one of these for the past decade or so - hiking, biking, trail work days, outdoor concerts, travel, and days at the park with kids. Love the simple, functional design - very comfortable carry, great zippered pockets, good weight and capacity for day use, and pretty durable. I also like the fact the hydration reservior is not in the main compartment with my gear - protects against leaks and leeaves more room for gear in the main compartment. Highly recommended!

I have had this bag for about 4 years and it has held up great, no problems at all. It is super versatile and light weight. I use it for day hikes, traveling through the airport, and as my bag for school and work. I am always on the go with my job and this bag has been through everything and is still in great condition. My only complaints are that the handle on the top of the bag is a little high and was initially irritating to the back of my neck when I got the bag but it no longer bothers me. The side pockets absolutely do nothing to hold your drinks in. The only bottle that fits is a 40 oz hydro flask b/c the strap keeps it in.

The backpack is great for my use--short walk to work. I do have to say that I ordered the Stone Grey, but to me it looks more like a shade of green. The color is hard to distinguish online, so I'm not sure if they sent me the wrong color. Does anyone else think the Stone Grey looks like a shade of green?

As many others have noted, the water bottle holders on this pack are useless. Doesn't matter what size the bottle is, whether it's wide, slim, short, tall, large, or tiny. It won't reliably stay in the pockets that are supposedly designed for it. I always carry water bottles with me, so this renders the bag nearly useless (I prefer not to put them in the main pocket to limit the risk of ruining my things in the case of a leak). It would be such a simple fix, and Osprey obviously knows this is a major problem, so I really don't understand why they choose not to fix it. If the water bottle holders worked, it would be an excellent little pack (especially for use as an under-the-seat carry-on/"personal item" on flights). It carries comfortably, is big enough to accommodate my laptop (13", I believe), and seems like it would hold up well. As it is, this pack gets very limited use - I'm always reaching for an alternative to avoid the water bottle hassle.

I have a larger Osprey bag that is great, but I recommend you do not buy this bag. I got this bag for hikes and day trips, but water bottles are constantly calling out- which is one of the key things you probably want to not lose on a long hike.

I have an old Manta 25, (size M/L) which I love. My best friend and constant hiking companion wanted a smaller pack than she already had, to use on short, local hikes. I bought her the Daylight and she loved it so much that she used it on larger hikes as well. She died suddenly in June and I "inherited"it back from her. I find this pack to be somewhat uncomfortable. It just feels too small for my body. I can never get it adjusted quite right. I use it for short, local hikes, so that doesn't matter too much. But I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 5ft 5 inches or of substantial body mass. Otherwise, it's a wonderful little pack, well designed and great for use with a hydration bladder.

I love Osprey packs. But this one is frankly disappointing. I've had it for a little over a year. It's hardy. But not comfortable. And my water bottle is constantly falling out.

I purchased this daypack for upcoming travel where I would be doing short day walks where the compact size was important. However, after getting to my vacation destination, I found that the side bottle holders are poorly designed. Any standard bottles (even store bought plastic water bottles) just keep falling out due to the side mesh pockets having too much of an angle to keep a bottle in. If you need to take off the pack or set it down, the bottles would immediately fall out regardless of the side strap tightness. As others noted, I tried all size bottles too but with no luck; so, I would not buy this pack again. If they had made the mesh pocket go straight from the outside of the pack to the side of the pack then there would have been no issues. Other features in the pack and its general size are good. I liked the smaller front pocket with its mesh dividers and the larger pocket is good with its separate mesh pocket. I did notice that the shoulder strap design made the strap dig into the back of my neck but I did not use it for any duration. If you don't mind carrying water inside the pack then it will work for you. If you need a pack to hold a bottle or two on the outside, consider another pack. Others have noted that this holds a hydration bladder. That would be the other option and I may explore that as well since it will be the only option to make this pack usable for me. Also, as a note to others, be aware of the 30 day return policy; unfortunately, I did not test out this pack prior to travel (my mistake, I know) so I may now have a pack that will be sitting on my shelf... Lesson learned.

Well like several others here I have to comment and the woefully inadequate side pockets. They are 2 shallow and angled so water bottles just keep falling out. I've taken to using the side buckets and threading them through the carry handle of my flask just to keep it from falling out on the trail. I also miss the elastic loops that used to be on the front of the previous version. I am hoping for a new model that correct this obvious flaw.

I bought this pack for travelling and short day walks. It is a good compact size and comfortable to wear BUT the side bottle holders are so poorly designed, Water bottles just keep falling out, the side pockets are not deep enough and have too much of an angle to keep a bottle in. In the end I've had to resort to putting the water bottles inside the pack, which is very inconvenient. I tried all size bottles too. I would not buy this pack again.

I've used my Daylite for the past 6 months extensively - day hiking at least 5 times a month - I'm an avid explorer/hiker and photographer here in Florida. We'll start with the negatives first: Poor shoulder strap design makes the strap dig into the back of my neck - I've noticed this is one of the few packs designed like this in Osprey's line. It makes the pack hard to wear. The side mesh pockets are shallow and water bottles/Nalgenes/Platypus come tumbling out if you lean over too much - super annoying on trail. The back padding makes your back sweat profusely and offers little support. Because of all the sweat - the pack can become smelly. Even if you wash it - sweat in it again and it's right back to being smelly. Pros: I do like the minimalist design, lightweight, and portability of the pack - the small size (13L plenty for day hiking and exploring) and design shape (it's longer than wide) are great pros also. The material as always - top notch. I'm an Osprey guy - I own several packs from the ATMOS AG to the Farpoint 70 and even a DURO 6 Running/Hiking Vest. Heck even my waterproof camera bags are Osprey lol. For some reason I just think they missed the boat on this one. I think the daypack included with the Farpoint 70 was a more efficient design than the Daylite - shoulder strap wise. After using my Daylite up to this point - I now realize the Hikelite 18 is probably more of what I want/was looking for. Oh well, you live and you learn - I know my neck would appreciate it more lol.
