Brooks Green Silence shoes are the lightest and most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The tongue goes down the side which is a more comfortable place considering the nerves in the foot. Bravo to Brooks!

Absolutely perfect. I had been wearing Nike Shox Navina's (kind of the opposite of a minimalist shoe) but they were getting worn and I decided I wanted a change, so I tried these. Best.decision.ever. These shoes have a wide toe box, which is really comfortable. I have semi-wide feet and tend to get blisters on my little toe. My transition to minimalist shoes was easy... and when I tried to go back to my Shox Navina's I felt like I was walking/running in giant Herman Munster shoes. Will never go back to traditional running shoes.

I was a little skeptical about using these as running shoes especially with all of the foot and knee problems. But I really liked the way they looked and I heard Brooks was a good running shoe. I usually wear Asics. I purchased several pairs of sneakers, including new Asics. I kept the Asics and decided to take the green silence for a test drive on my treadmill. I ran three miles with no foot or joint pain which is unusual for me! So I ran another three still with no pain! I am so happy with these shoes! And I am surprised that with all of the special shoes out there for different pronations, that nice natural running shoes feel amazing!

Like the softest goatskin house shoes you can dream of! Love them! I love them so much that I can't make myself run in them, I want to wear them every day all the time.

I work in a Out-patient Surgery department, so these shoes look very good with my scrubs. Getting daily compliments. Looks matter, but comfort is the #1 reason I wear them to work every day. There is no comparison to my other shoes. The Green Silence is the most comfortable shoe I own right now. Will buy another pair soon.

So far these have been great running shoes. Fairly minimal so wouldn't be a good choice if you are used to running in something super structured. Runs true to size. I really love them. Only fault is the laces don't always stay tied even when double knotted. The lace is slippery. Otherwise highly recommend.

I love these sneakers! I have used them for indoor workouts and they have been great! They are super light and look a lot better in person than they do on the website. I definitely recommend these!

I LOVE my Green Silence. I have been running 25-30 miles a week in them for about 9 months and they are holding up great (though a bit muddy now). I ran an icy half marathon in them brand new, and they were fabulous. They are wonderfully light and quick; I have a neutral gait so the minimalist thing works for me. Just reviewing them makes me eager for my run. And I love they they are better for the environment.

Love this shoe! I don't run (in my 60's and have an artificial hip). Have found that Brooks are a good shoe for me. Also, got the Hollyhock color and I get lots of comments on them! Size seems to run true and they are the lightest shoes I own. I would highly recommend them for anyone who walks a lot and isn't afraid of bright colors.

I love these running shoes. They are light, breathable, and extremely comfortable, with plenty of room in the toe box. They do fit snugly -- not uncomfortable at all -- but I did find that my usual cotton running socks were too thick and had to purchase thin dri fit socks to wear these. I purchased these as a transition shoe to a more minimalist shoe in the future but I like these so much I'm sticking with them! I hope Brooks makes them forever.

I really liked the black version of this shoe. Really cool looking. Although the turquoise color in the sole and stitching is a little unusual color. I love the lace-up design. They are comfortable and airy, but I decided on the Reebok Realflex instead as they have a bit more cushion for my needs and still have the barefoot feel. But this is light, airy shoe.

I got these for days where I m doing more running at CrossFit. I think they're a good in-between, not a pair of Vibrams, but also don't have so much padding that when I do any sort of weightlifting they throw my body out of alignment too much. I think they're pretty slick looking. I actually wear them with socks because I'm a little bit afraid of blisters from some of the mesh-like material over the top of the foot. The laces are a little slippery and require I double knot them so they don't work themselves undone when I'm jumping rope. Overall I'm happy that I got them.

Plainly put, this is an ultra-light, 'neutral' shoe. This is the shoe I use for basic treadmill runs and shorter (10K or less) road races. They feel fast in shorter races. I prefer a shoe that holds my foot a bit more when I get to longer distances or am trail racing. My orthotics fit in this shoe and the shoe itself runs true to size. I have a 'normal' width foot, and the shoe fits well in that regard, too. There's not much more to say. I love the design, especially the simple tongue overlapping flap. The colors are amazing and I'm sure I'll keep this kick around for strolling around town after it's running life is over.

I love running in my Green Silence! These are the best, most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned! I was looking for a minimalist shoe that gives a little more cushion than the Vibrams but not as much as most running sneakers and this was exactly what I was hoping for. They are light, flexible, and roomy enough so that I am not getting blisters or calluses anymore.

I bought these to train for a 5K in June. I've been wearing them for about 3 weeks now and they have worked out well. I like the attached tongue and they are pretty comfortable to wear. They feel a little like slippers that you can run in. After a full week of training my feet do hurt, but I think that's more me getting used to running than the fault of the shoe. I've also tried trail running in these and they do well for a shoe not necessarily made for trail running.

This shoe has a great feel for running - it's lightweight and has good traction. My first 'minimalist' running shoe was the Nike Free, and I like these better. I found the heel on the Nike Free to be a bit squashy. The Silence feels more compact and fits my foot more snugly. I also love how the shoe is made largely of recycled materials. Drawbacks: The edge of the tongue is somewhat rough, and can dig into the top of my foot if I tie the laces too tightly. Also, the green color of the sole and stitching looks a little toothpaste-ish to me, hence four-star style. Nevertheless, I will buy these again.

These are great for short distance (less than 15k), minimalist shoes. It takes some getting used to. Great for someone that understands the benefits of minimal wear without going extreme with Vibram or barefoot. Your feet should be used to minimal running if you plan on wearing them for a race.

This is a great shoe if you are looking for a really light shoe. It doesn't have a lot of support, but that's what I wanted from it.

Great shoes, really lightweight! Definietly the most lightweight shoes I've ever worn. I wouldn't recommend wearing for running longer than 3 or 4 miles because they are so lightweight they didn't put tons of padding in them. I love that they are so eco-friendly, I hope they make all their shoes biodegradable!

This is my favorite running shoe. I love the way it fits and feels, but the shoe laces are a nightmare. The come untied easily. Double knot them...triple knot them.

I bought these because they have a bit more cushion for longer runs than my Inov-8 f-lite 230's while still being a minimalist shoe. Mostly these shoes are doing the job for me, but there are a couple of issues that keep them from being perfect. The sole is less flexible than the Inov-8's and there are some poorly constructed seams on my pair that can be uncomfortable if I don't put the shoes on in a way that smooths the seam down. Obviously this is annoying. But there are so few minimalist shoes to choose from that I still would recommend them.

I wanted a more minimal trainer and liked that these are made with biodegradable and recycled materials. I love them! They're comfortable and lightweight. Keep up the good work, Brooks!

I love these. I've just had foot surgery and need to wear a shoe like this for a bit - my doctor was impressed. I made him hold the shoe - he said they were the lightest shoe he ever held.

I normally wear a size 8 shoe, but I had to buy a size 8 1/2 in this style. These shoes sure are lightweight, which I love, and the way they look. My local store did not have my size and could have a pair for me in a week. Zappos sent me a pair instantly. Once again, Zappos comes out on top.

Sorry, no go. I buy a lot of Brooks tennis shoes and they are great. These were so cute but so wrong for my feet. If you need support, not the shoe for you. Very thin sole. Can't win them all. Will be back for my tennis shoes, no problem.
