I've only put about 15 miles on these shoes, but so far they are amazing. The fit is perfect - just like a glove. I usually wear wright socks with them but the other day I forgot a pair and did 4 miles sockless - escaped with only a small hot spot on my left heel, but other than that it was fantastic. I bought this as a transition shoe to move to a lighter weight, more minimalist platform, and so far the transition has been great. I will be buying more of these in the future!

The Brooks Green Silence is an extraordinary, ultralight racing flat made from recycled and environmentally friendly materials. I admit I was skeptical of a shoe that had a spongy, biodegradable sole made party of recycled car tires, or a shoe put together with recycled fibers and water-based adhesives. But the Green Silence is as durable as any other running shoe, albeit ultralight (just 6.9 ounces per foot!). Runners are discovering that the Green Silence is not only great for the 5K, but has the durability to run a full marathon. These shoes give an almost barefoot experience, while providing just enough cushioning and support to run all day. They are like super comfortable running slippers. And the well placed rubber pads on the sole give these shoes race car grip. They just might make you faster. And they are an outstanding training shoe as well. They are practically collapsible for light and easy packing. Take them to your hotel gym. Take them to run around in parks around the world. I even have a pair in my car as super soft driving shoes. The Green Silence is simply amazing.

Function over form. These shoes are super lightweight and I have enjoyed them for running. Let's be honest, though, these are about as ugly as shoes get.

A friendly transition to more minimalist type running. Very comfortable and brought on many positive comments. Hard to treat as a running shoe and not wear them all the time.

I really like the style of this shoe, and I love that they're eco-friendly. Beyond this, I'm not crazy about this shoe. I found the midsole to be terribly mushy, which seemed to cause instability in my ankles and knees. As well -- and this was my fault -- the fit wasn't quite right, so no matter how tightly I laced these guys, I still had a ton of foot movement (sliding) inside of the shoe. Of course, this led to some painful hot spots. If you're looking for shoe that feels stable under foot, look elsewhere. If you just want a stylish flat to kick around in, do it.

These shoes are some of most comfortable I have ever run in. Very little support, and very flat. Almost minimalist, so may take awhile for you to get use to them. Ran a 1/2 marathon in them and regularly do 10+ miles 3X a week in the different pairs I have. The have a nice roomy toe box. Also check out T7 racers if you want a mre narrow feel. Oh,and these are great sockless, look for the uppers that look like a sponge, as these dry fast. Go 1/2 size larger then your normal pair with these as with other Brooks.

I got these because of the construction materials, being one of the most if not the most sustainably manufactured running shoe and have to say that these shoes don't disappoint in comfort or style. I am a beginner when it comes to running after having taken a break of about 15 years! These shoes though are supporting and resilient. They don't have the same bounce to the step as say my New Balance these replaced but they feel lighter and offer just enough shock absorption. In terms of fit I usually wear an 8.5 but for these I had to go to a 9 for the width. The 9 is perfect though, I intend to get another pair once these are worn out, which at the moment looks like it might be sometime away.

Very comfortable and light weight. The color works well as a diverse shoe. Not too much support - so I would not use them to actually run with.

These are great shoes for what I wanted them for, an extremely lightweight trainer and interval shoe. They are very light and feel nice even to wear all day if need be. They are a bit longer in the toe than I think that they should be compared to other Brooks styles, but I think if I went the 1/2 size down I would be starting to crowd my toes. So, I will just live with these and be pleased with all the nice comments. Definitely get a lot of smiles and comments from the younger folks who dig seeing a 45 yr. old man rockin' theses kicks! ;)

I sell bicycles for a living (goes without saying, I am a cyclist, not a runner). I have to stand on my feet for long periods of time. I got these shoes because I was fitted at a specialty store and they were highly recommended. I really dig them They feel like pillows on my feet. I have four pairs. If you have to stand and walk for long periods of time, I highly recommend these shoes. I ordered them on Monday got them the next day.

I am a racewalker, not a runner, and have tried various shoes (some of which are also very good), but the Green Silence is a dream, the best ever...they have just the right amount of "heel" for racewalking, the toe box is wide (perfect for me, because most of the other "racewalking" shoes (Adidas Adizero, for example) are too narrow for me. Just the right amount of cushioning too, so overall it makes for a smooth, comfortable racewalk.

Like many of the other reviewers I'm training for 2 half marathons this summer, I typically run in a very minimalist shoe but for the longer distances and all the pavement pounding I wanted something with a bit more cushion. After ordering half the 'minimalist' running shoes offered by Zappos I finally decided to try these and they fit the bill. The toe box is very roomy, there is no obnoxious arch 'support to get in the way, the shoes are light and the wrap round design of the tongue is awesome and limits the number of seams in the shoe to rub and cause problems. So far the longest run I've got in these shoes has been 9 miles and I have no complaints. I'm a woman and wear a size 12 in woman's shoes, the 10.5 in man's fit awesome, and they even come in a fun bright blue color. :)

Been running in the Brooks Launch and was looking for a speed work/race shoe and I found exactly what I was looking for in the GS! Fit like a dream and raced a 4 miler in them right out the box. Order more as Brooks has decided to discontinue this shoe in favor of the new Pure line. Get yourself a pair and I promise you won't be disappointed!

I got tired of traditional running shoes, as I raced more and trained harder I craved a faster and lighter shoe. I have the original yellow/red opposite colored shoe and fell in love with them immediately. my first experience in them was a 10k race and I PR'd on a snowy Sunday in January. shortly after I bought another pair for race-days and another since then. I won't run in another shoe... period.

These are fantastic. As a runner transitioning from more supportive to more minimalist shoes, these turned out to be a great choice. They are comfortable, light, and durable; the kind of shoes that make you feel fast.

I absolutely loved these shoes and I would wear them everywhere, especially to walk my dog. They are very comfortable, but for me, 15 years ago a had a neuroma in my foot from walking on cement. I got it to go away and after walking a lot in these shoes which have less support, I felt like I went back to the shoes I liked. My neuroma came back and I had to give up these shoes for another kind with a lot of support. Too bad. If you don't have this problem of needing alot of foot support, then they are great.

Great shoe for training and competition. Initially I purchased the Green Silence for training to run marathons, soon realized this shoe will hold its own for races. Made the mistake of purchasing Asics Kinsei 4 to compete in. Way too many hot spots with the Kinsei's and you can buy 3-4 pairs of Green Silence for the price of Kinsei's. Buy this shoe. It is worth the money, it's light in weight, they look cool, barefoot running, you will eliminate heel strike if you struggle with it, it's a no brainer...can't go wrong with it.

I love these shoes. I have flat and somewhat wide feet, making it difficult to find a comfortable running shoe. Even moderate arch supports made my feet hurt after a few miles. Prior to the minimal/barefoot running trend, I always wore Brooks Beasts or Asics Gel Foundations motion control shoes. But the more I read, the more going barefoot or taking a minimalist approach sounded appealing. At first I tried some Vibram 5 finger / barefoot running shoes. I loved the concept, but seams in the Vibrams would frequently rub a blister on the top of my foot at around the 3 mile mark, they really do a number on your calves (as they should if you run barefoot, you gradually adapt), and there was always the issue of avoiding pebbles. The Green Silence strikes a sweet spot between traditional shoes and minimal shoes. You get some degree of cushion, making runs a bit less punishing on your feet, the ability to wear socks (a plus in my book as a distance runner), and it doesn't put as much focus on calf strength, but there's zero motion control and no arch, allowing your foot to move in a more natural way. If you plan on going barefoot, this is a good transitional shoe. But if (like me) you want a bit more cushion while still retaining a more natural range of motion, these guys are perfect. They took a bit of getting used to at first; the lacing system and fit just didn't feel quite "right" compared to how my traditional running shoes felt. I think a big part of that was being accustomed to motion control shoes that try to force you not to pronate. But once I grew accustomed to them, I'd never go back. They're a joy to run in, and I've had zero problems/injuries since I've been wearing them. As an added bonus, they only weigh 8 ozs and dry fast, making them perfect for a back pack or brief case. As others have noted, just buy 1/2 to 1 size larger that what you might normally wear if your feet run wide. I really wish they made more widths available - an E would be perfect. As a side note, I tried the Nike Free line as well. Good shoes, but (like most Nike shoes in my experience) way too narrow for a flat/wide footed runner.

Just finished my 2nd full Ironman in these shoes after only running 3 times in them prior to race day, about 30 miles total, not a single blister, ache or pain! Fantastic light weight shoe!

This is the best running shoe I've ever had. I'm on my third pair. I've done several half marathons, 2 half ironman races and the are true all the way. Great comfort, great style and amazing performance.

These are great shoes for distance running. I like that there is not much arch support in these. I find that when there is padding hugging my arches like in some of the more clunky trainers my arches feel uncomfortable. The midsole padding is comfortable and shields my feet from rocks and other debris I may step on. The most miles of done in these in one run would be 12 miles. I have put in over 150 miles in these and they have held up well. If I get 200 miles in them I am happy. I find these very comfortable. At first I did not like the asymetrical lacing but after running in them for a few weeks I got use to it. These are ideal for runners with decent form and you can really do some fast distance running in these.
