These are wonderful boots. I injured my achilles heal and was looking for a comfy boot to power walk on snowy streets. I love these and have received many compliments. I know I'll have them for years to come.

This waterproof hiking/snow/walking boot is, quite possibly, the best footwear purchase I have ever made! I walk 4-6 miles with my dogs on Saturdays and Sundays -- I needed a warm, waterproof boot with excellent arch support (I have flat feet), but I didn't want the typical heavy winter boot. I am also a runner, and I needed a boot that wouldn't wreck my feet on long hikes. This lightweight boot has it all. It felt great from my very first hike, and continues to deliver. No break in period. No sore feet. Just great support along with a great looking boot. The red color rocks! Note: My typical shoe size is 7.5, but I wear a size 8 in running shoes. Decided to order size 8 in this boot as well. Good decision. Perfect fit.

The Ahnu Montara Boot is just what I wanted - support, comfort and quality. The Zappos video helped with my selection by showing the flexible ankle feature. Best of all: the red color - so distinctive and adds fashion to utility.

I read so many reviews on the Ahnu boot that were glowing. At one point, I started to question how everyone could possibly like a boot so much. But I'm sold. The day I got them I loved them. I broke them in on a 3-day, 14-mile backpacking trip in Indiana. I never once had sore feet or blisters. They held their own in mud, climbs and descents. They were breathable in 90-degree heat and high humidity, and quickly dried after a dip through a creek. Highly recommend, true to size, and a lot of quality for a small cost.

I love these. But they are not winter warm boots. They are dry boots. They are nice to wear all day indoors. They are super cute and they do not look like hiking boots sticking out of the front of pants. They make a low and a knee high in these shoes! They run a little big. The width of the toe box is nice.

These boots are really quite comfortable. The ankle part is not too puffy and it fits well. I like the two hooks around the instead of one (harder to find than one might think) and even though I wear a 5.5 and the 6 is a little floaty it's good in case I want heavier socks. The ankle part holds my toes from bumping into the shoe when I go downhill. The soles are grippy and even though I use them primarily for walking in the woods and it's good that they are a pretty color too. pleasantly surprised to finally find a comfortable hiking boot for a good price.

Lightweight, with a roomy toe box. Comfortable right out of the box even for a longish hike and able to accommodate orthotics easily. I normally wear a 7 1/2 or 8 and bought an 8 in this boot--sizing is consistent across the three Ahnu shoes I've tried. If I were backpacking I'd want something sturdier, but for day hikes and walking on the beach, this is a good option.

So far I have only used this boot on 2 hikes, and while I want to love them, they don't seem like they're very durable. They are super comfortable, and soft around the ankles, but they seem a little big even with a thick sock. But the first hike I took them on, the stitching was already coming undone a bit, and it was a pretty average hike. Zappos was great though, and sent me a new pair with free shipping; that's what I call service. I will see how they hold up in the next few months, and with winter upon us, I'm anxious to see just how waterproof they are!

I am very happy with these shoes. I have already worn them through ice and snow and my feet stay dry and comfortable. Traction is great as well. I absolutely love the color!

Lightweight and comfortable. Runs wide. Have to tie very tight. Had to buy a 1/2 size up. 8 was too small, 8.5 was a bit too big, but OK with thick socks. Made so that the heel does not hit the back of the shoe where you usually get blisters, so that is a big plus. It does rub the ankle a bit, but no real problem there. Overall, very comfortable. Wore them in NYC all day and no problems. Good on ice. Have not worn them hiking. Might be a little too soft on the bottom for serious hiking.

Tried them at home: very comfortable, roomy toe box. Wore them outside and realized lack of posterior ankle cut-out caused shoe to hit back of ankle repeatedly and bruised my ankle.

I ended up returning this shoe, even though it was great because it just wasn't quite wide enough for me. The toe box is roomy enough but the middle of the shoe is quite narrow, felt like I could have gotten a better fit from a company like Keen or Merrell who makes wider shoes. This shoe is beautiful and supportive, however, and it was hard to let go! The lacing system is great for quick on and off.

I needed multi purpose boots not only to replace a completely worn out pair but also for an upcoming trip. I wanted support, structure, ankle protection that wasn't restrictive, slip resistant & waterproof -- yep, I wanted it all. Except for the slip resistant part, I really did get it all in this one boot. I can't believe how lightweight they are and still provide so much support. I do think they tend to increase the tendency to slip on snow pack & ice though so I pull my Yak Trax on over them. Still worries me though because I might not always have my Yak Trax nearby.

Was looking to replace an LL Bean walking boot. Ahnu Montara boot exceeded my expectations. A wee snug on first try on, but within an hour, perfect fit. Keeps feet warm, dry & well supported. No need for heavy socks! Have been wearing the boot every day for a month on 4+mile speed walks & no issues yet.

Great looking boots - I got the dark red color and these are the best looking hiking boots I have ever had. Generally comfortable with very little break in time. However, the soles could/should be heavier. You can feel the rocks in the trail, even though my feet felt comfortable and protected. If you are a Princess and the Pea kind of person, you might not like that.

I love this boot! First pair of Ahnus, and I know it won't be my last. Great fit for me, right out of the box. The design of the back/heel area (genius!) offers support with lovely flexibility, and the leather cuff is so comfortable. They keep my feet cozy and dry, and provide great traction on hilly hikes. Thanks, Ahnu!

Love them! I hit the bull's eye with this selection. Fit well in heel and instep for good support, a little extra in toe box to accommodate for heavy socks. They have been tested in zero degree weather and snow. A+.

Much like another reviewer, I have a narrow heel, wide forefoot and wear orthotics. Ordered size 11, true to size. This is the most comfortable lightweight hiking boot I've ever owned. Get a lot of compliments on the look, too. I bought the indigo/citron and love the unique color. The little bit of citron trim does show dirt but it's not a big deal. The tiny D-rings do twist around; again, not that big of a deal.

I bought these boots mainly because of the color. I was thrilled to see a hiking boot in port! They are wonderful for light to moderate hiking. I wore them for a steep climb 1st time out and had no blisters or "break in" issues. They are very padded and soft. You'd probably want a more rigid boot if you were carrying a heavy back pack, however. I usually wear a size 8 shoe and bought a 9 in the boot. This is typical for me with boots and running shoes.

After trying on many hiking shoes, I settled on these. Yes, I am glad I did. I am a size 10.5-11 and usually purchase 11s because most shoes are not available in 10.5. After reading the review that mentioned sizing up, i was concerned that the 11 might not even fit. Well, it was big, to long and the toe box was huge. I exchanged for a 10.5 hoping the toe box would shrink along with the length and it did. They fit perfectly. As far as colors go, my first pair was in the blue suede. To me it was a bit of a dull blue. The next pair was the more traditional smokey brown- I love them.

I must have tried virtually every women's hiking boot there is on the market, and this beat out even much pricier competition. Whoever designed these shoes did an excellent job, not least in providing true half sizes - these boots are made for real feet! They fit like a dream and are so comfortable. I usually take a 10, but found the 10.5 to fit perfectly with merino wool socks. And no hot feet here. They are leather (and partially leather lined) and waterproof, though not hot like other waterproof boots due to the 'event' breathable fabric lining. Top notch!

I love my new boots. They're easy to lace up, light weight and comfy. No breaking in was required. I have size 10C feet and they fit me just right. I have very high arches and use my own orthotics so I really can't say anything about the boot's arch support.
