I love these boots! I wore them for a week straight! - except to sleep. A few weeks ago I had to take an unexpected, work related trip to Alaska, where it was -38. It was sunny and 75 when I left and many people on my flight from Santa Barbara were wearing shorts, tee shirts, and flip-flops. I wore my Merrells in case my luggage didn't arrive. People thought I was nuts, but my feet stayed warm and cozy during my week in Fairbanks and Anchorage. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, and being waterproof makes them perfect. They'll likely last for decades since the only wear they'll get from now on will be for occasional winter trips to the Sierras - where it's never -38!

A perfect winter boot--warm, comfortable, lightweight, easy on and off! Walked over three miles the first day I wore them. Bought them a half size larger than normal, thinking I'd add orthotics or other insoles, but the boots are so comfortable I didn't need them. I wear thick cushy socks and they feel great. Feel a little snug when you first put them on but loosen up quickly. Little loose in the heel but feel great--a little like a lightweight hiking boot.

At the last minute 3 days before leaving for my trip, I realize I need a pair of walking shoes that can withstand the snow and rain. But I didn't want to get a snow boot because I didn't want to be limited to just wearing it in the snow. I saw this pair, tried on a few and decided this is the one. I wore this shoes to China and Taiwan on a 2 week trip. I climbed the Great Wall of China in this shoes, in way below zero temp.! Let me just tell you, I have never worn a pair of shoes, walked, run, hiked, climbed for over 8 hours a day, for 12 days straight and been this comfortable. (I also brought another pair for alternating, but this one never left my feet!) The sole cushion and support of this shoes is unheard of! I was in comfy feet heaven! My feet have never felt this good and the boot style lends even more support around my ankles for climbing and walking in the below zero temp. Doesn't matter if it's snowing, raining or walking on icy pavement or mud, it just holds my ground, keeps the traction and lets me enjoy the scenery instead of worrying about my feet! So happy with the purchase, this pair of Merrell is outstanding! I'm normally a 6.5 but worrying about wearing socks so tried on the 7 as well, but after walking around the house in socks, I decided to stick with the 6.5 even though it's a little snug at first, but it does give out a little and now, it just molds to the shape of my feet! I've been wearing Merrell shoes for years, and these boots are exactly what I expected. The size is true, and they are very comfortable.

Very comfortable. Good support. Bought a half size larger to allow for heavier socks. Wear them every day for walking our dogs in all kinds of winter weather in upstate New York.

These are great boots. They are very comfortable, right out of the box and keep your feet just the right amount of warm. The tread is great -- not too stiff -- and they look good popping out of jeans. Very light, too. You should get them. They are worth the money.

I love these boots, they keep my feet warm and they have a good grip on icy roads. I have big feet and they actually make my feet look smaller, which is amazing for a boot.

The actual boot was better than I had hoped: fit was perfect for warmer socks, very comfortable, waterproof & warm. Able to walk dog 2 miles wearing them!

Exactly what I was looking for to take with me on a big trip - a hiking boot that is waterproof and sturdy enough for the rugged outdoors, yet subtle and stylish enough to wear with a pair of jeans in the city without looking like a lumberjack. Super comfortable already - had expected a break-in period, and none needed. I ordered a half size up per other reviews, and glad I did. The boots appear very well constructed and sturdy with a cozy interior, but light enough to be comfortable as day-to-day walking shoes. It feels like the shoe could be worn in any climate, +/- sock layers. These might be my new favorite shoes; wish I ordered them at the beginning of this rainy season.

The boots fit well, are warm and have great traction in the hard packed snow. They're just high enough for hiking without getting my feet wet! They're attractive enough for my needs!

The size was very different from the previous 7.5 which I tried on. Much smaller!

I love these shoes! I've had trouble in the past with shoes that don't give me enough ankle support or when the soles slip on icy streets and mud. These seem to be great on both counts. Additionally, they are warm and comfy.

These booties are so comfortable. They were just what I was looking for, wide shoe box to accommodate my fat bunions, warm, and kick butt in cold weather. They are a little clunky with the little look thing going on in front, but when I throw on my skinny jeans and put on a pair of folded down socks over the top, they are absolutely urban trendy looking. Plus I like the little height the heel affords. Five stars!

Amazing. Decided to buy them one day before leaving for Italy as rain was forecast. I didn't even need to break them in and they kept me dry in Venetian downpours and safe on slippery cobblestones. Ordered on a Thursday PM; got them Friday AM.Can't wait for rain at home so I can wear them.

This was the 3rd pair of boots that I had ordered (had to return the other two). I really wanted these ones to work. Sadly, I'll be returning them and ordering a 4th pair. Based on reviews, I ordered my normal size. Unfortunately, my heel slides up and down in them. Perhaps a half size smaller would work, but I've decided to go with a different boot. It isn't as soft and cushiony inside as many of the other styles out there, so I'm surprised that other reviews have said that they are really warm. I also ordered them in black and think that I'd go with the brown if I were to try a 1/2 size smaller. The black doesn't show the attractive stitch detail the way the brown appears to.

They are nice boots but I liked my Keen Dakota more! Their style seems a bit flat but the fit is great. There was this cool tag on them talking about how men and women walk differently, and these boots were specifically designed for women. I liked that a lot and have never heard of it before. So when I wear them albeit a bit drab in style, I know they are doing me good!

Stingy toe box! I usually wear a medium in running hikers and boots, but this medium is so tight in the toe box that I'd have to go a full size up to be comfortable. That would mean way too big in the heel and in overall length. I wish Merrell offered the Iolite in wide or for men.

I purchased these boots last December in the hopes that they would keep my tootsies warm enough, while visiting the many Christmas markets throughout Germany. I discovered then and again this year that they are just not living up to their full potential in the warmth or comfort department. I found these boots to run narrow overall, causing my toes to become numb after a few minutes of wear. There is insufficient wiggle room in the toe box thus allowing for only one pair of socks. I can say that these boots are stylish, not clunky , have good traction in the snow & will work for walking & trips about town, but are not insulated enough for stationary activities in the winter. I wish I had paid more attention when I began having issues after I had already worn them. Sadly, they will join other unloved shoes in the dark dusty confines of my storage closet. I decided to make a wiser and more educated choice this time by ordering a pair of Sorel boots. I am confident that they will live up to their full potential!

Well-made and cute boot with side zipper for easy on and easy off. Vibram soles, a bit like a hiking boot. All of this was just what I wanted. I ordered a size 8, which fit almost like a glove when I wore hose. (The heel slipped a little, but I think not enough to be a problem.) If you want to wear heavy socks, you might want to order a half size up. The arch support was good, but my ankles ached and almost felt wobbly -- a bit like what a beginning ice skater feels. I don't know why. They squeaked a bit on my wood floor and smelled a little like rubber tires. I'd love to love these, but will return because of the aching ankles problem.

The boots are great. I haven't had a chance to wear them much, but they're true to size,comfortable, and light weight. I received them within a couple to days of ordering them. Merrils are very cushioned to walk on.

Wow. These boots are cool and tough-looking and keep my feet amazingly dry and amazingly warm. When I came back in the house after shoveling snow and was peeling off my frozen gloves and hat I realized that my feet felt wonderful! They truly are waterproof, comfortable and the bottom traction made me feel very secure and not afraid of sliding around. I love them.

Wore these on the plane and everyday apres ski on a trip. Fabulous. My feet were never cold or cramped. The zipper makes for quick on/off which was great for the plane ride. Stylish yet discreet so I did not look like Nanook from the North Pole.

I wanted some boots that were easy on and off, warm and had good traction. These are perfect! They are very lightweight, warm and comfy. I wear 9 to 9 1/2 and have wider feet so I went with the 9 1/2 and they fit perfectly. Ordered them on Monday night and had them on Thursday! I live in Northwest Lower Michigan and lots of snow and cold up here!

These boots are excellent for this weather, and they feel very comfortable. However I also want to commend Zappos for their excellent service.

Liked the boot, but it was narrower in the toe than my other Merrells (Tetra Catch). Hated to return them, since they were otherwise just what I need - a warm boot for winter driving and walking.
