These boots turned out to fit better than I expected. The adjustable-ness of them was a huge bonus as I could make them accommodate my large calves and skinny ankles. Also useful for fitting jeans or leggings inside the boot. I have wide feet which have been very comfy in these boots. As a bonus they are totally cute, I get asked about them all the time.

I love these boots! Let me explain why. First, I have problems with my feet. Many shoes cause me pain and it's very difficult to find shoes that don't hurt. These boots are extremely comfortable. I have thin calves and these boots fit nice and snug. Since there are laces, the tightness is adjustable. They are also adorable. I wish I could wear heels, but they kill my feet, so I am very happy to find these stylish, hip boots in a flat style. I got them in the dark brown and it is a nice rich color. I will be wearing these a lot.

I am a solid size 7 US and the 37 fits perfect. I was originally planning to order a 38 but they were sold out. Since Zappos has such a generous return policy, I figured there was no harm in ordering the 37 to see if it would work because I really wanted these boots! My toes have plenty of room and I have narrow feet anyway so they don't feel sloshy. These boots are every bit as comfortable as other reviewers have mentioned. They have a very cushy insole and the leather is soft even before being broken in. As others have mentioned the laces are really much longer than necessary. I have very thin calves (I'm 5'5, 110 lbs) and these fit great on bare legs and can be loosened to fit over jeans. I LOVE these boots and was so glad to see the price drop on them so I could make the plunge. They're expensive, but they're real leather, well made, and have great cushioning. Well worth it and I expect they'll last a long time. Oh, and another reason I love Zappos--they upgraded to overnight shipping free of charge! I got my boots the very next day and have been wearing them around the house ever since. Final verdict, I am not sending them back. No way, they're mine for keepsies!

Love these! I tried at least 25 other pairs before I found these. My feet are difficult to fit properly since I have had multiple foot injuries. These, like the clogs, work great for my feet and I love the snug fit on my calves. I have medium to slim calves and these are perfect. No break in period needed.

The are the best fitting boots I have owned. As others mention, they do not have as much arch support as Dansko clogs, but they do have some (and a removable foot bed for inserting your own orthotics). They look pretty rad and are really easy to fit to your ankle and calf. I think that the sizing is very slightly smaller than other Dansko shoes, but I wear the same size in their boots and shoes.

Wow. This is the boot I've been searching for. Truly adjustable to accommodate both wide and skinny calves (if you're on the skinny side the laces will seem too long, but if you're a little wider the laces are spot on). They do have low arch support for a Dansko, but with an insole you're good to go. They are incredibly warm, awesome for walking all over and waterproof as well. I have literally had to force myself to take these babies off. Other boots I've owned that were as functional and stylish as these ran in the $300 plus range, so I'd say these are a great value "to boot" (apologies, I couldn't resist)! If you've got an eclectic sense of style, walk a lot, and live in a slightly to highly inclement climate, these are the boots for you.

The service I received ordering my first items which was my Dansko Penelope boots. I love my boots. They are so comfortable. You do need to wear narrow leg pants to be able to slip inside the boots.

These boots are great and you get what you pay for. These are well worth the money.

Love, love these boots! The lace up front has allows me to really fit them to my rather skinny calves. The design of the boot makes the foot box area appear smaller than the size it actually is. I wear a 9 and these make my feet look more like an 8. Very comfortable. My only negative comment would be that the back curve of the boot shaft doesn't match the curve of my calf, but it doesn't bother me too much.

The shoe laces are way too long. Otherwise, this is the perfect boot. They go to my knees, the leather is supple, and if you wear a stocking or sock then there is no break in period needed. They are beyond comfortable, and worth every penny. I wear them with dresses and with casual skirts. Hot!

Black is tough and stylish and secretly very comfortable. I followed the size guide for a 8-8.5 and ordered a 38, it was too small. I ended up with a 39 and it fits great.

I love these boots, and receive many compliments and a few odd looks, but I like it that they are different. The whiskey color lends itself to more of a rugged, Tibetan climbing look. I would like to have black as it would go with more clothes in my closet. Very comfortable!

I ordered these boots because I have plantar fasciitis and wide thighs. These boots handled both issues very well. The boots look great while supporting my feet. I have received many compliments on them and can wear them all day. The laces allow for adjustment to most any size thigh and allow you to wear them easily over jeans. Also, the soles handle snow and ice really well. The leather looks and feels supple and is high quality. I wear an 8 to 8.5 shoe and always a 39. These were true to a 39 for me. These may be wider than average, but I sometimes wear regular and occasionally wear wide. Since I wear socks with these I think the width is appropriate.

I love my Penelope's. I got it in chocolate and it goes with everything. I recently had foot problems and these are wonderful! I had to size down 1/2 size.

These are worth the money. They are comfortable and they look good! They are definitely hot!

I don't own a car. I walk everywhere. I needed a boot that has comfort, quality, and can be worn to work or casually. This boot rules! The price is high, but worth it. Totally worth the money! Boots were tight at first, but stretched in and comfortable by the second wearing.

I have these boots on now and I really like them. They're comfortable and they fit my small calves. I have received many compliments on them ... thinking about getting the brown pair.

This is a very stylish and comfortable boot. The circumference of the shaft is perfect - I am petite (5'3" and 100 lbs) and the boots fit my calves nicely; they are not too big like other boots. The boots have a removable footbed, so I can put my custom orthotics in. The insoles it comes with have decent arch support too. The toebox is very roomy for people with bunion problems. I wore these one day so far and have received numerous compliments already. I ordered my usual 38 size, and they felt true to size. I have the black leather ones, and they look very cute with skirts! I do wish they had a little more of a feminine heel, but I will probably buy a different boot with a higher heel for that. These are perfect if you are going to be walking around all day and want to look cute.

Great quality and wide enough for most wide calf gals (but, unfortunately, not me). Great fit in the footbed too.

Fabulous boots! I have a very narrow calf (11.5") and am always on the lookout for lace-up boots since they are the only kind of boot that can be adjusted to my size. When laced up tightly, they fit my calf perfectly. These boots are a gorgeous color (I bought them in whiskey), and they're really well made. I am between a 7 and 7.5 (US sizes) and purchased the pair marked 7.5-8. They're a bit roomy but that's okay with me because I wear thick tights in the winter. (These boots look terrific with skirts cut at knee-length and higher.) The only con is that there's a bit of a bump right at the top of the foot (close to the ankle), which seems oddly roomy and might cause the "cankle" effect other reviewers have noted. I suppose they could be laced up tighter in that area, but I don't find this to be a huge problem because the boots do offer enough of that shapely look in the calf to even it out.

I love my new boots! I have a wide toe box, long toes, and skinny heels. I usually have a hard time finding shoes/boots, but these are great. The adjustable laces make them super comfy, not to mention fabulously stylish! I wore them for 15 hours straight last week and my feet felt great. I wear a size 9 and ordered the 39. Am totally loving these, after searching for a black leather boot forever!. The laces make the boot fully adjustable for a great custom fit. They are comfy, the sole is flexible. They are heavy and I think they'll be great for the rainy SF winter. The leather seems tough. The zipper is well made and even covered with this soft material that makes it easy to grip and doesn't snag my tights when I cross my legs. My favorite part might actually be the red stitching on the sole, I'm sure no one will notice it, but it's one of many great little features to these awesome boots.
