Pros: This shoe is great. I usually wear through shoes quite quickly, and this has no holes or any real sign of wear. It truly is waterproof and is decent for walking on ice. A great all terrain shoe. Con: Shoe is quite the insulator and caused me a lot of sweating in the summer. Good for fall/winter/spring, but do not recommend these as summer shoes.

This is the best pair of shoes I have ever owned. I purchased these to replace Vasque GTX trail runners that I bought back in March 2009. The old ones held up through a lot of tough terrain and abuse, maintaining tread and water-proof qualities for just over two years. The new shoes feel solid, are very comfortable and don't slip (no blisters going down hill in these things!). Vasque has hit a home run with this model.

Entirely satisfied. Wide fitting, stable, convenient lace design, durable materials (I'm 6', 220lbs., so I wear out shoes if they're not well built.)

I love these sneakers! Waterproof, rugged... it takes a year of hard wear to break them down! Not super warm, but definitely bearable in cold weather with thick socks. I save the old pairs as work-around-the-house shoes. You won't be disappointed.

The soles of these shoes are very solid. So like most of the reviews say don't expect them to be running shoes. I've hiked daily 5 miles plus in them for the past month at least. I haven't tested them in water but I definitely will while hunting for pheasant. I think the videos on Zappos should actually field test the shoes in different locations. They'd be way more interesting and true to what people are wanting to wear the shoes for. The tread is wickedly aggressive, I could almost wear these as soccer turf shoes. Although, the front toe cap is pretty hard on the toe of you stub your foot or are going down a steep slope. I like wearing thicker socks that have a little more padding. Good value overall.

Feels comfortable for walking around town. I haven't used them on mountain trails or really wet conditions, which they are supposed to be built for.

Hadn't worn these much yet but I've had a pair of the non-GTX Velocity's for about 5 years and I couldn't be happier with their performance. They are my summer kicks and have done everything from bushwhacking to mountain biking on studded flats and are still hanging in there. It's a great shoe.

This is my third pair. It's great! I had a broken foot recently and bought new shoes. The orthopedic surgeon and a foot specialist were very impressed with them and asked where I got them. The foot specialist who builds orthopedics was equally impressed! Bottom line, great shoe!

I have wide feet/high instep and have been wearing New Balance 9 EE for years. Tried these in 9 EE and they had no room in the toe area, too tight. Ordered them here in 9.5 EE and they fit more like the New Balance 9 EE. I've been happy using the shoes for technical trail running in the 3-6 mile distance range a couple times/week.

I first got a pair of Velocitys 10 years ago and wore them regularly. When it finally came time to buy a new pair I bought a light trail shoe Vasque made because they were on sale. Four months later they didn't make it so I went all out and purchased the Velocity GTX. Best move I ever made! It's an excellent shoe for those who need sturdy, hardcore, do anything, no excuses waterproof footwear.

I use Superfeet (green) inserts which makes these a comfortable fit with solid support. Half-size up from normal. Great fit out-of-the box. Performs well on the trail and street... It is a hiking shoe so it is more stiff than a running shoe.

Excellent build quality, true to fit. Took a few weeks to break in but didn't feel uncomfortable when first wearing. I cannot comment on arch support as i wear orthodoc inserts. Hoping to get a few years use out of these!

These are great shoes, no breaking-in necessary, comfortable and rugged and more than adequate for hilly hiking conditions.

Very comfortable. Heel area is slightly higher cut than a normal low-cut shoe but not as high as a mid-height shoe. This proves good lateral support. I have thin ankles but these grip them well. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers in that the cushioning and stability is more like a hiking shoe for long distance walking (which is my primary use). It would also be good for someone on their feet all the time at work. I would not want to run in these because they are too stiff and do not have that sort of rebound cushioning you would find in a normal running shoe. Arch support is good and did not require me to use my orthotics. I had to exchange my 1st pair because of a strange ticking/pop noise from the central arch area when I would take a step. The replacement pair did not have this problem.

I have only worn the shoes indoors on carpet. They were great right out of the box as far as fit and comfort.

I'm going to add to my earlier review. These things are stiff. They would be absolutely great for walking and hiking, but they are way too stiff for running (which is what I bought them for). If you need support and stability, these are definitely for you. They will not let your ankle turn, and they should last just about forever.

Excellent day hiker. Great for walking. Very good arch support. Since they come in various widths, you can get what you need.

First of all, these are great shoes. The soles definitely protect your feet on the trails and they're very comfortable. I've just found that the toebox is more narrow than many shoes, and the padding in the sole is a bit stiff (it's softening up now after a couple of weeks).

Really like the shoes. Solid sole, don't feel anything coming through. Laces stay tied, good resistance to roll over, used for walking, not running. Felt good when new, getting better (1 month). I like them.

There are two shoe companies that I have purchased shoes from in which I have worn the soles off of the shoes before the stitching/shoe fell apart. The two companies are Vasque and the other is Salomon. Vasque makes a quality product, but you will pay for that privilege. I purchased this shoe at a local retailer that put it out at a deep discount. Unless it is a fit issue, the quality of Vasque is unsurpassed in both light hiking boots and trail runners like these. 5 stars all the way around.

These are without a doubt the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Perfect true to size fit. Gore-tex waterproofing works great. I think I'll get an extra pair to put away in case they discontinue the model!

These shoes are great looking , there a tad darker then in the picture which is fine. They are contoured to ur foot like a mold designed from ur very own feet. Very light weight , very smooth quick lace up with minimal effort and stay laced. One miner thing that bothers me would be that sometimes they make a weird hollow flapping sound when I walk but when I snug them a little tighter they don\'t make that sound. I\'m sold on Vasque and look for more color designs just to buy more or this brand.

Nice shoe. Tested them when I first got them by standing in a 2 to 3 inch tub of water to see if they remained waterproof; nice and dry. Pretty comfortable for a boot. I'm somewhat flat-footed, so the arch support felt fair. Not a lot of cushion, but I have to remember it's a boot and not a tennis shoe. I think it could use a "Superfeet" insert though, but that's just me. It has a nice sized toe-box and the shoes lace up very easily with just one, smooth pull. Overall, I'd recommend them.

I bought the prior version of this shoe from Vasque and chose this one again because my first experience was so good. They provide terrific support and wear extremely well. I can't even guess how many miles I put on my first pair in the 2 years I owned them. My only gripe is that they added yellow tread and trim this time around, which eliminates one of the things I really liked about the shoe and it's lack of flashy-ness, that let me wear it with virtually everything. And on my new pair, the yellow layer on the tread is starting to peal off, making it look kind of ragged. Maybe this is a nit, but I hope Vasque gets it right next time. Other than that, though, a great shoe.
