I love the look of this shoe and the color. I bought them ~1 year ago and 2 months ago, I noticed that the rubber of the heel is separating from the heel base. It looks like a bad glue job. This is something I'd expect from cheaper disposable shoes - not from a company that prides itself on American-made quality. I've not seen this happen in the 10+ other pair of AE shoes I have. Too bad and hopefully it's not indicative of the current/future quality of AE shoes.

Great looking shoe, but after only six weeks the outsole has worn through the threads. My first AE shoe, and absolutely my last.

I ordered not one but 8 shoes, finally kept only 1. It's a over hyped shoe, we get tempted coz of advertising & YouTube. It's one of the most expensive but uncomfortable shoe. Waste of money I'll review it soon on YouTube & Facebook. It's has insane manufacturing defects & is vaguely asymmetrical

This is my 2nd pair of AE Shoes that had a scuff on the shoe. So, having the inconvenience and hassle to return them for another pair. Does quality control thoroughly inspect the shoes?

Was really excited for these, but the pair I received were worse than seconds. The welt weaved in and out of the groove and the color was super uneven. Returned. Guess what people say about AEs quality control is down the drain are correct. Shame that American craftsmanship has fallen by the wayside.

Second pair of Allen Edmonds and disappointed...
First pair was good, however, the second pair I ordered (Strand Cap-Toe Oxford) were total garbage. The outer side of left shoe collar rode so high that is caused my ankle to bleed after wearing it one day. Will take to a cobbler to see if it can be fixed, or will throw away.

Right side top is too high and caused blisters. This shoe fits different than same style in another color

I purchased these in walnut ~ 3 years ago from Nordstrom, and wear them ~ 1x every 2 weeks. They look fine, and the uppers have worn well, but the rubber heel pieces on both shoes are coming off, and the sole on one has a hole worn thru the leather. My experience with shoes from other manufacturers in this price range is that they last 10+ years easily.

I have bought 7 pairs of Allen Edmonds and have been generally very happy with the purchases. With all things handmade, there is always a chance of hit or miss. My latest strand shoe has developed a large discoloration mark on the toe cap. It looks very ugly and I cant stand the sight of the shoe anymore. I have tried to hide it with the shoe cream but it cannot be hidden. I don't know what to do with this pair anymore.

With such hyped about Allen Edmonds quality, i am truly disappointed. I had high hopes for such a nice, sleek and super quality shoes that I did not might the price point. But after returning and exchanging the same pair of shoes for 5 times, I don't think i will buy my second pair ever again. I love the style of this shoes and heard nothing but raved reviews; unfortunate for me, all 5 pairs had huge flaws in them. Firstly, i must say i really appreciate all the sales associates here in the Houston area for helping me out with the no hassel return process. But besides that. Everything else was total disappointmenr. The shoes I kept on receiving are very poorly made. Either have mispainted here and there on the leather. Or the bottom side of the sole where the wood lining is got chipped and the wood literally separated into halves. I have not been able to try on the shoes for anything more than 1 hour so can't say much about the comfortability. Like previously stated, this is my 5th pairs of exchange so i'll save myself some disappointment and just might as well keep it.
Gota do better Allen Edmonds!

Color was silver/grey. Shoe came in a black/dark grey so dark you could only tell it was grey in extreme lighting.

I own six pair of AE shoes. Five of the six are on the 65 Last (Strand & Park Ave & McAllister) which fits my foot really well. Unfortunately, my pair of dark brown Strands in 8.5E do not fit well despite putting the time (1yr) into wearing them and trying to break them in. They are becoming progressively more uncomfortable for some reason which is the total opposite of the rest of my AE shoes that seem to only feel more broken in and comfortable with time. Specifically, the leather feels hard and the toe box is oddly narrow and crooked and crunching my toes. Despite being properly measured at a store, I must admit, this pair just never felt as good as my other shoes from the beginning. I know these are handmade shoes and there are natural variations but something is really off with this pair which is making it impossible for me to wear them. It's a shame because they are beautiful and minimally used. I hope something reasonable can be done to fix this situation.

I'm very disappointed in Allen Edmonds' shoes. I attempted to purchase this pair of shoes three times. Each pair had a defect. The first two did not fit correctly. On the third pair the shoe tongue was defective.
I don't know where Allen Edmonds' get it's reputation for making quality shoes. I've attempted to purchase five first run pairs of shoes from them and each one has had some type of defect.

These are not exactly "inexpensive," but I am always happy to pay a bit extra and get a quality product. In this case, buying a fairly expensive shoe did not result in a quality product.
I bought a pair of Strands in "Bourbon" online (on sale, not seconds), and was very excited to receive them, given all the positive reviews. One of my favorite shoes previously had been my Allen Edmonds Park Avenues, so I eagerly awaited the Strands.
Unfortunately, there was a pretty large discoloration and damage on the finish at the cap of each shoe, and one of the shoes had fairly poor workmanship in the stitching on the sole.
I returned the shoes and customer service was very courteous and helpful in guiding me to determine whether to process a refund or get a replacement set. The replacement set was due to show up fairly quickly, so I elected that path. However, the replacement shoes did not show up at the promised date, so I reached back to customer service to determine if an updated delivery estimate could be obtained. I was promised a call back with the updated estimate, but did not receive one. I called and left a couple additional voice mail messages to try to get an update on when/whether I'll receive the replacement pair, but have not heard back yet.
I really want to like this company and product, but overall, this has been a pretty disappointing transaction.

How I hate to write a bad review about this shoes, but I have to, I got the worst experience of anything that I have to buy in my 35 years old life, The Third pair of Strand just came and at this time left shoe is taller and rubbing my ankle bone, in the second pair the left shoe was much tighter than the right one and the first pair of Strand fit perfect but they looked so ugly because somebody chopped them that way, I feel very bad about this shoe company.

Purchased my second Strand in Walnut and realized that AE quality has gone down drastically. My new Strand's heelstack doesn't align, has poor stitching throughout, large bump in the front of the shoe left side that causes quite a bit of discomfort, twisted weird laces and more.
If this was my first time encountering problems, I wouldn't be putting up a review. Past April, I bought a pair of black McAllisters which had strangely formed right sole that hurt my foot within minutes, strange stitching on the left shoe that ripped through a lot of socks on the top part of the foot, and with same bad sloppy stitching throughout the shoes.
AE shoes I've purchased years ago didn't have any of these problems and will think twice next time I'm purchasing shoes especially at these prices.
With the cold weather coming, I was thinking of picking up a pair of Dalton boots, but I'm going to hold off for now.

Bought the shoes in June and they didn't even last 7 months before one of the heels split. Yes, I take care of my shoes and, no, I never wore them two days in a row. They were rotated with 2 other pairs of dress shoes and worn once, sometimes twice a week tops. These were the 1st pair of AEs that I bought and I was okay spending the extra money for AEs reputation for quality and craftsmanship. Very disappointed to see that they could not hold up after 7 months. Yes I know fixing a split heel is a easy fix, but its the principal of the matter. My much less expensive Johnston & Murphy's are over 6 years old and I've yet to have a problem with them. Strange, but disappointing.

I ordered the Strand, it was one of my favorites in the store. I ordered it in walnut calfskin. When they arrived I noticed that the caps on both shoes were not well made. The stitching does not run in a straight line, the leather was not cut or fastened in a consistent manner. I ordered three different pairs of shoes and two pair have to go back. I hope it gets worked out. I really like the look of Allen Edmonds and the fact that they are still made in the USA.
