These boots are awesome. I have had them for over 2 years now. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Period. They are very lightweight and pretty breathable. I wear boots all day everyday at work and these help my feet stay much more comfortable. I have worn them on 15-20 mile hunting trips with zero discomfort. These would not be good if you are going to be in wet terrain. They are more of a hot dry weather boot. But if you want comfort and lightweight, these are the best you will find.

These definitely run a little large, as others have said. I ordered 1 size larger than normal (10 to 11) and with thick wool hiking socks, they are perfect. Just came back from Alaska, and these did great hiking on rough, loose, sharp rocks on glaciers. They also proved to be great wading through streams, even though they aren't Gore-Tex. They appear to be durable and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pair!

My feet require arch supports and get sore after short walks. These boots helped this problem. I have a first pair in low cut from R.E.I. These are an excellent complement to that pair. Your service has been excellent over the years I have used your company. My first order were for New Balance shoes when my foot problems were diagnosed. You were patient with my returns and reorders. Many thanks.

First, Zappos is fantastic and has great service! Second, these are the most comfortable boots I've worn. They're lightweight, and feel great. I used them on a 2 week trek in Peru and Bolivia. I didn't even have to break them in. They run a half size smaller, so when ordering them make sure to order a half size bigger than your shoe size. Other than that, I will always wear Merrells. My next purchase will be the waterproof ones.

This has fast become my favorite every day shoe, worn through the Spring and Summer and coming up on the Fall. I will definitely purchase the waterproof version for wetter and colder days. \r\n\r\nThese have stood up to my five mile daily commute (round trip) pretty well. They are showing their wear, but will easily make it through the warm season. \r\n\r\nI am a convert from the Merrell Radius. I\'ve found the mids run about half a size smaller than the lows. These are definitely true to width. Although I previously wore aftermarket inserts, I wear the stock inserts for these boots and am happier. \r\n\r\nI also have a wide foot and have trouble with tight shoes - especially on the train when I\'m being jostled about and need to hold steady. These are perfectly comfortable.

Bought these a few days before hiking about 19 miles up Half Dome at Yosemite, along with about 10 miles additional each day before and after. Very comfortable, no break in required. Did get a couple blisters on 19 mile day, but my fault for not wearing two pairs of socks. I generally wear a 10 shoe and a 10.5 running shoe (Brooks Adrenaline) and the 10.5 Moab fit well with either one thicker sock or two medium weight. Recommend.

While these are almost an exact replacement of my last pair of Merrell Ventilators, there is one difference that is problematic for me. The stitching on the tongue on my last pair was a flat stitch between the cross-hatch webbing and the inner boot liner. On this pair, they have folded over the webbing and then stitched the liner - this creates an uncomfortable pinch point if I lace the boots too tightly. I therefore have to maintain a looser lacing than I would normally have in order to prevent discomfort.

I just purchased my second pair of Moab Ventilators, not because I wore out the first pair, but because the first pair never really fit right. Unfortunately, I had put some miles on the first pair before convincing myself I'd have to toss them out, thus I was unable return them for an exchange.
These boots run at least 1/2 to one full size small. If you purchase these in your regular size, you'll probably mash your toes.
Resign yourself to purchasing a set of quality insoles before you venture out. The factory insoles offer woefully little if any cushioning.
Once you get a properly sized boot with new insoles, you're good to go. These are very comfortable, lightweight and offer exceptional lateral stability.

I bought the wide size and they fit well. They are comfortable and give good support. I wear in a work environment and am walking for hours at end and these help get me through the day after day use. I normally wear an 11.5 size but got these in a 12 to fit right. This is my second pair.

These are nice but didn't fit my arch and heel. the arch in insole is too far back and my heel was resting on the back slope of the arch curve. Not good for me. Considered buying $40 heat molding inserts but decided to go with another brand of shoe.

I wore these on some short hikes in the Chihuahuan desert last month. They were comfortable right out of the box, and were cooler than most other shoes I have used. I feel they are just as good as the more expensive boots.

Purchased Merrell Moab Ventilator Mid boots in July for a hike to Phantom Ranch in Grand Canyon, August, 2010. I can't compare with other hiking boots as I have only used leather military issue boots in the past. I have a very wide foot and high arch that makes it difficult to find shoes or boots that fit well. The extra wide Moab turned out to be an ideal fit for width. I'd read evaluations that suggested changing out the insoles and the factory insoles did seem a bit too flat for my feet. I replaced the insoles with Signature EV Ultras. Those provided superior support. These boots felt great from the first time I wore them. I started out the first week with a few 6-10 mile hikes and had no problem. The boots felt as if they were already broken in. After three weeks, I did the Grand Canyon hike. Down the Kaibab and up the Bright Angel trails. My feet felt fine - no blisters or sore spots. Despite cautions about feet sliding inside the boot on downhills, I was able to lace the boot sufficiently to prevent any problem. The boots had adequate ventilation for the 120 degree temperatures. The traction seemed very good on the various terrain along the trail. The soles provide good protection against the numerous rocks I climbed on and over. I'm glad I found these boots. I'll buy them again (if my current pair wears out).

These boots are very comfortable, however they are not very durable. The toe will start to peel due to poor glue. It is a shame because they are nice boots otherwise.

I tried two pair and sent both back and went with the Keen Voyageurs. The Merrell pinched my L foot with both pair in the middle of my foot.

Right out of the box on to the trail very comfortable. However, after only 4 months of hiking on rocky, gritty, boulder strewn Arizona trails sole and lateral support have totally broken down. Feel any rock over marble size and continually rolling ankles.
Best suited as a work boot or a flat well graded trail hiking boot.

I wanted to like these boots. They have great reviews. I tried 2 different sizes and found both had something pressing on the inside heal, near the arch It was uncomfortable just trying them around the house and the store. I tried moving the insole around but it didn't help. I can imagine it being very painful on long hikes.
Also had to order a full size larger than normal to fit. I made the mistake of ordering just a half-size larger; also made the mistake of ordering from someplace other than Zappos and now I have to pay return shipping.
Just ordered some HiTec Haka Trails at Zappos instead.

These hiking boots are so comfortable that my husband wears them on a daily basis. They have great grip and ankle support. His feet don't feel tired whether it is after a day walking around or a big hike.

These boots are extremely comfortable. The tongue seems a little thick but it keeps them from binding at the ankle. The toe box has plenty is space. A great shoe for the money.

Bought a size 10 wide for my father in law who has a very hard time finding shoes that fit right. These were perfect! He wears them all the time. We'll definitely order Moab again.

Needed better support for increased activity. Spent all day in my woodworking shop on a concrete floor for a week. At the end of the day I felt no fatigue or pain as I had experienced in the past. Will definitely get these shoes again!
