I like these and they have kept my feet dry. The venting is nice but my feet still are somewhat sweaty. For some reason these run really small. I usually wear a 12 W but only the 13 W fit.

I made the mistake of only breaking these in for about 2 days before I went on a week long trip to Europe. I wore them in London for about 2 days before the left shoe really started to bother me. It kept rubbing into my foot right where the toes bend. It hurt so much, that I had to take them off and wear a different pair of shoes for the rest of the trip. That being said, besides the toe issue, they were very comfortable and supportive. Now that I'm home, I should break them in some more so that I can go hiking and wear them in the rain.

This is the second pair of these shoes that I've owned, and I'm glad Merrell is keeping them in the product line. I live in NYC, and these are my everyday shoes for walking and biking around the city. They also do fine for jogging, which is great for when I travel and don't want to bring a pair of dedicated workout shoes. The first pair lasted about two years, which I think is acceptable for a shoe that receives constant, daily use. The color combo and styling are nice, too: not too sleek and not too clunky.

Bought these last year and one of the shoes started to squeak within a month after receiving them. That is the only issue I have with this model. Otherwise it is a good shoe.

I have used these shoes for a year now putting well over 100 miles of hiking through some of the worst conditions. They look as good as the day I bought them. The Gore-Tex will keep you dry to a point. This shoes are not waterproof. I treated mine with Camp Dry from Kiwi and they never leaked even when submerged. I would also recommend replacing the insoles and buying them elsewhere. I bought mine at the mall.

The boot is very well made and fits true to size. It has a hard sole so I use a gel insole which makes it feel fine.

Like all Merrells, this is a comfortable shoe for kicking up dust. The first time I wore them, I did a 12-miler in rain and snow. They were comfortable and dried out quickly. Two days later, they went on a 14-mile hike at a 3.5mph pace and they were great. The next day, a 10-miler broke them in even better. They're snug, lightweight and durable. Size seemed snug at first, but relaxed after that trip and are perfect a month later with almost sixty miles on them.

Good solid hiker/winter sneaker - This is a very good shoe, but I liked a similar pair or Merrell's that I had several years ago a little bit more. The fit would be better if they offered a 12 1/2 size. Although this pair of 13s was slightly too big, I made it fit better with a pair of SuperFeet insoles/orthotics.

Back to Maine - I wore a pair of Merrells when I lived in Maine. When I wore them after I moved back to NYC I called them my Maine shoes. So years later I'm back in Merrells and loving it. The streets of NY are just as rough as any terrain up north and these shoes are up to the challenge. (And the other day one of the "cool kids" on the subway was glancing at my feet trying to see what brand they were!)

This is a awesome shoe. Haven’t had any experience with getting it wet yet. This is my 4 or 5th pair of Merrells and I find that they typically are very durable and last years. Felt slightly narrow at first, but they break in after a few wearings. Also, Zappos’ service in beyond incredible... I ordered them on a Sunday night and had them on a Tuesday less than 48 hours latter without any extra shipping charges. They just upgraded the shipping for free. WOW!!! Highly recommend Merrells and Zappos for ordering.

Merrell Moab Gore-Tex - I ordered these shoes prior to a hiking weekend in North Bend WA after reading the reviews. As a first time hiker, I did not know what to expect. The shoes performed well on the wet and rocky terrain on the 8 mile hike up Mount Si. The Vibram bottom performed well on the small protruding rocks that would have injured my foot in a non-hiking shoe. At 6'5" 300 lbs I got the support and performance I expected from Merrell's in a size 14. I purchased these shoes solely on the comments from others and will continue with the Merrell brand. Zappos delivered the next day, Shoes.com took a week. I did add an odor eater under the insole since my arch supports would not fit.

Moab Gore-Tex - I really like how this shoe feels during hikes and disc golfing. The sole is OUTSTANDING for this type of terrain. Would recommend to anybody who likes an aggressive outdoor shoe.

Not to say the shoe is bad, but compared to similar type sneakers from North Face or Columbia which are less expensive, I don't understand all the five star ratings. I work as a gardener so I give my shoes a workout, and also hike, kayak, etc. The waterproofing I would call water resistant, good for dew on grass, but even a hose on the toe for a second or two water seeps in. They are average comfort and don't offer much support in either the arch, or around heel. They are slick on wet surfaces from rocks, to grates in the City, excessively so. Not really a knock but they do trap mud and grime in the treads, a decent trade off if they offered even average traction. As for durability, well only had them about a month, but the caps on the laces have already come off and ends splitting. Speaking of laces they like to come untied. So a decent shoe, something special no, and not compared with the cost and comfort of the competition.

I am a big lover of Merrell footwear. I have a couple pairs of their Moc, a pair of their 'bicycle' style and a pair of their sneakers. All of them very comfortable. The Moab are still in the breaking in stage, but so far they're not very comfortable. 4 toes, 2 on each foot, bleed from rubbing against the shoe. I have orthotics, so I removed them and use the ones that came with the shoe, which has stopped the rubbing and bleeding. Now my flat feet hurt, but I do like the style, so I hope my feet just get use to the shoe.

Tried these shoes with three different innersole combinations. None were comfortable. I have and like the Merrill Moab Ventilator Mid.

I had much higher expectations of Merrell. I ordered a bunch of shoes from Zappos and compared them all in my carpeted living room. The Moab seemed to win on overall build quality, weight, and feel. Now that I've actually worn them outdoors though (and can no longer return them to Zappos--sniff) I am very disappointed. The toe area is rigid and uncomfortable and didn't break in even after several hours of hiking. The size is also way off and already destroyed two pairs of perfectly good socks because of friction in the toe area. To top it all off the laces keep coming undone and are in fact starting to fall apart! (This is all after about 10 hours of total use.) Probably my last pair of Merrells

Do not purchase! After 2 wearings the shoe has started to separate from the sole. I have had Merrell's before and loved the quality. So very very disappointed!

I feel strange writing this review as there are no other negative reviews to be seen. I had always trusted Merrell as far as being a great shoe and a great brand. I was sorely disappointed with the Moab. After just two outings (day hikes) along the American river, the shoes started to fall apart quickly. The shoes were used to tromp across creeks and some river beds. After getting wet, the entire front of the shoes above the rubber started to dislocate and rapidly lost its black color, exposing what looked to be a synthetic felt underneath. I have to point out that what a shoe is made of doesn't really matter to me. What matters is when I pay a lot for shoes, they should last. This shoe lasted me four months and looked like absolute crap for three and a half months of it. Since the experience with the Merrell I'm sad to say I've been hesitant to buy another pair of Merrells. Ive learned recently that the worst or pickiest review is usually worth reading. I don't claim to be a shoe snob, but my suggestion with the Merrell Moab GORE-TEX/XCR is never get them wet (waterproof or not) and don't wear them outside.

I have had 2 pairs of these shoes, and comfortable as they are I bought them for water proofness and both leaked in months...the sole pulls loose from the body at the ball of the foot, and since it happened twice it must be a design flaw. So next I tried North Face and they are more comfortable and not leaking....so my advice is skip these and go straight to North Face.

I've had these for 5 years using 3-5 times/ week in various terrain. Except for some thinned out fabric at the heel, where I slip my foot in, these are still great shoes. One of the best pair I've ever owned.

More and more companies are going to their own proprietary water-proofing techniques (Merrell included) as Gore-Tex is becoming more expensive. I still prefer and feel actual Gore-Tex is one of the best water-proofing technologies available and this Moab shoe is a great quality and valued shoe with Gore-Tex. I have two pair (one in each color) that I have had for probably 4 or 5 years and are finally starting to show some wear but they will continue to get trail use and winter use around town, and I have now bought two more pair (one in each color) for just nicer, around town shoes. Merrell continues to make quality shoes and boots (as I now have 8 pair) and I continue to purchase them for myself and recommend them to everyone.
