I have many pairs of shoes and had a pair of the same kind that I recently bought, but in a smaller size. The shoes are great BUT they are definitely smaller and I could have even gotten a FULL size bigger than I wear and it probably would have fit fine.

These shoes are truly waterproof. For me, they run true to size. I love the Merrell brand, but the soles of my shoes are already beginning to show wear. I use these shoes during early morning walks and rainy weather when walking the dog (approx. 15 miles per week) on concrete sidewalks and trails. Zappos shipped my shoes the next day! I don't buy my shoes from any other vendor. Thanks Zappos.

These boots aren’t too hot (I live in south Florida) and they keep my feet dry, even in heavy rains in our Hurricane Season. On certain wet areas, the soles were a little slippery at first, but after two days, the grip improved to be perfect.

Nice enough for what they are. Major complaint is the stiffness that doesn't seem to go away with wear.

I have yet to do very much walking in these boots, but so far they seem well-made and sturdy, with an adequately resilient foot bed. As other reviewers have stated, these boots run very small. The measurements of my larger foot, in my usual hiking sox, indicate that an 8.5 medium should be the right size. In these boots, that size left only about half a thumb’s width of space between the end of my great toe and the end of the boot. The arch in the foot bed fell behind the arch in my foot. The medium width in an 8.5 was so narrow that it scrunched my little toes under. The size 9 was not quite as bad. The length gave me a full thumb’s width of leeway at the end of the toes, but the foot bed arch was still a bit back from my arch and the width was still uncomfortably tight. Thank you Zappos for fast shipping, free both ways! I was able to get a pair in size 9.5 before the deadline when I needed good, sturdy walking boots. That size gives me a little more length than I need, but not so much that I trip over the toes. It places the foot bed arch directly under my arch and is just barely wide enough across my toes so that they don’t feel pinched. I will need to saturate the areas that come in contact with my little toes with some shoe stretch solution and walk in them until the saturated area dries. That should make the width at the toes relatively comfortable. The big surprise is that this huge (for me) size fits my very narrow heels like a glove. If I did not have to modify the width with shoe stretch, I could give them a 4-star rating for comfort; if, in addition, the foot beds were a bit more resilient, they would earn a 5-star rating in that category.

Great shoe!
I usually wear a size 8-8 1/2 but ordered a size 9 in this shoe based on reviews. Am glad I did as the shoe fits perfectly.

Great Hikers -
Great tread, but quite stiff. Plenty of toe room for wear heavy socks but the boots themselves are very warm, but are waterproof. With those elements in mind, I'd recommend.

Nice shoe with great heel fit (no slip!) and good toe room. But the mid foot right before the toe is really tight for me.

These shoes are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They only came in 1/2 size larger than I usually wear but I took a chance and ordered the larger size. I'm able to wear them with thick winter socks and they fit perfectly. I read the other review and she felt they were uncomfortable after awhile so I suggest ordering a half size larger than what you normally wear. These shoes are already on my favorites list and I have LOTS of shoes.

I am disappointed with the shoes for several reasons. For one, they are not comfy; the shoes are hard and lack cushioning. Second, they are not as nice looking as they show in the picture, they don't look cool. And third, they are not as good as other Goretex shoes I have had. I get my feet wet walking through wet grass.

Too tight -
These hiking boots run way too small, and are very tight on the feet.

I'm very disappointed with these hiking shoes. I had a less-expensive pair of Merrells (discontinued now) that were advertised as waterproof but leaked the first time. I exchanged them for these and I got 2 uses out of them before they leaked. Each time I was just walking though wet grass (morning dew). If they aren't waterproof for mildly wet conditions, how can they be advertised as waterproof at all? On top of it, these have a thin insole and no arch support (the less-expensive Merrells were much more comfortable.) I was an avid Merrell supporter (my boys have worn their slip-on mocs for 10 years - new pair every year and the only shoe they will wear). However, after my experience with these, I'll never buy another pair of Merrell hiking shoes again. Poor quality, overpriced, not waterproof, and not very supportive. Next time I will buy from Zappos so I don't get stuck with something that I spend a lot of money for and doesn't live up to its promise.
