I have really enjoyed the shoes, I think I have worn them every day for over a month since I received them. I do like the brown finish, dont be worried when the leather scratches at first, it all rubs out and looks great after wearing them for a few weeks!

I owned these shoes 10 years ago while in High School and loved them. About 5 years ago I switched to a larger bulkier type of Dr. Martens shoe. While that one was still very comfortable it was never quite as good as the Stantons. After reading all the good reviews I knew they again would be a solid purchase. Of course, I was right. Classic look, they fit great, comfortable, and almost no wear in time. Quick shipping made it even better. I would absolutely recommend.

I bought my first pair of these shoes 13 years ago, and loved them. They are a great everyday wear shoe, and built to last. The only reason I bought a new pair was that the soles were finally starting to wear down.

This is my third pair of this style Docs in over twenty years. What can I say - they wear like iron, are as comfortable as an old t-shirt, and have a classic style that is never dated.

I've owned and still own lots of Docs and this pair is by far my favorite. I am going to buy a second pair to keep for the day that this pair finally wears out or becomes to ragged for work.

This is the second pair of this model that I have owned. Good value for your money and better than the For Life Dr Martens Line of shoes. I tried the original 1461 from that line and ended up coming back to these. They have a very cool weathered look and feel great once your break them in.

A really great shoe. The only surprising feature was when I first put them on and walked around, it seemed like lines or cracks were forming in the finish, like the dye was rubbing off. I called Zappos customer service and they said that's what they're meant to do; it's part of what makes them look aged. The lines even out after you take them off and they develop this really nice patina. At least, that's what my pair did, anyway. The shoes don't seem defective or damaged otherwise, and the dye didn't come off on my clothing. Still, I didn't see any comments about that when I bought them, so I wanted to mention it to forewarn people about it. Aside from that, they're a really great pair of shoes and I wear them everywhere.

I was impressed with the solidness of these shoes from the start. Really, they are just like very low cut boots. In fact, they were so solid I was taken aback, as they were a bit stiff and quite heavy in a size 13 (12UK). Also, I noted they seemed bigger than a traditional US 13 in other shoes I have worn. Those factors almost led me to exchange these for a pair of Rockports. I have been a Rockport wearer for many years, but recent pairs have not had the same "solid" feel of the ones I got 10 or more years ago. So I ordered a new set of Rockports to compare the two. Then something happened - we had a big snowstorm in Central VA. Thank goodness I had these. We have had 3 big snowstorms, and plenty of snow and ice in between; and these very rugged shoes dig in and give me surefooted traction everywhere I go. I have yet to slip once while wearing these. I have gotten to love these shoes and am glad I kept them. I added an additional air cushion foot pad to deal with the size issue, and I am glad for the weight, especially in the snow, ice and mud. While my new Rockports are slightly more comfortable, they have nowhere near the durability or traction of these shoes, so I am glad I kept both pair.

I bought these shoes for my husband for Christmas. They came the day after I ordered them and my husband loves them. He wears them all the time and were very comfortable from the first time he put them on. I would recommend Zappos.com for service and the Doc Martins for comfort.

Very comfortable and good looking. Probably the most conservative shoe from Doc Martens. Also bought the Wonder Balsam to keep a nice sheen on them.

Without a doubt this is the most comfortable pair of Doc Martens I ever wore since 1990 right off the box (I've owned about 15 pairs more or less). These shoes have a distinctive, stylish, rich brown color of rare beauty, and to preserve the integrity of the leather nape is best to clean them by dry brushing only. If you use clear shoe polish, the color will certainly darken up some. These shoes are very handsome and are a must if you are a Doc Martens fan, or you like unique and robust statement shoes.

I love these shoes! Extremely comfortable and versatile. They work equally well with jeans or with Dockers. Great traveling shoe since one pair will work at multiple functions.

Thee look great....I am a musician and having shoes that look good on stage at a club does matter. Please note that lines form on the shoe for the first few months. I think this is normal. Also, not a lot of arch support, as is the case with most Dr Martens. I have walked 20 NYC blocks in these, and very comfortable!

I was not down with this purchase (it was a Christmans present). Once I tried them on and walked around I quickly changed my mind.

These bad boys rock! I've got big, wide feet (size 13 US), and these fit like a charm. The color was perfect, and the laces weren't 200 feet long (unlike the last pair I bought at Famous Footwear). My only complaint is that the insole inserts were for a size 9 or 10 shoe, and I switched out the insoles from another pair of shoes so my feed wouldn't freak out. Shipping was upgraded free of charge - one hell of an experience. I'll be buying from Zappos again soon.

Shoe looks good and I love the meaty sole on it, but it took 9 months to break them in to the point where they would finally stop giving me blisters on my heels. If you buy a pair of these, stomp on the heel-upper a bunch of times to soften it up; that's how I finally got them to stop giving me blisters.

Long time Ecco wearer, first time Dr Martens. Impressed with quality, stability, and comfort. Inserted my orthotic without any problems. Plenty of room in toebox. Look better in person than online. Great with jeans and khakis. First time with British sizing, my US 9 1/2 and Euro 43 equals a 10 in these shoes. A little clunky, but quite pleased. Love the oiled leather.

A poor substitute for the 1561s. The shoe last is wider and the toe box deeper. For those looking for a replacement pair with the same flatter sleeker toe as the classic 1561s will be disappointed. Also the uppers feel thinner.

I love my Doc Martens. However, I recently moved to a colder climate, upstate NY, and the soles can't handle the cold up here. After only two years of wearing these shoes perhaps three or four days a week, the soles have cracked completely through. I understand the polyurethane from which the soles are made hardens under extreme cold and becomes brittle. It's a shame, because otherwise these are great shoes.

These seem like a cheap knock of Dr. Martens shoes. The leather upper is made of thinner, lower quality leather. They are very stiff initially and visually less appealing. The soles look much thinner, especially the foresole, when compared to my Dr. Martens. These cheap knockoffs should really be priced at about half the current asking price. Other than styling, they bare little true resemblance to old Doc Martens. I will be interested to see how these wear over time.

These are advertised in the women's section as well as the mens. I love the styling of this shoe, but being a woman and having a woman's foot (i.e. narrower than a man's) I could not make these shoes work for me. Even putting an arch support in to simply take up more space in the shoe, it was just so sloppy to walk in, I couldn't justify the price to keep them. Broken-hearted because I really wanted this particular style and color, but it being a men's shoe, it just didn't work for me. If you are a woman with a wide foot, these will probably work fine.

What a sad day I have to give up on Doc Marten. I have been wearing the now discontinued Crazy Horse 1561, since they were made in England. Brilliant shoe, then by cheaping out they made them in Thailand, and it was still a quality show and consistent. Now they are typical made in China garbage. I ordered on pair from Doc direct, sent them back as the dye job was horrible, and looked burgundy. Tied these at Zappos, to see if the error was corrected. A shoe that was always a US man's 10 with inserts and fitting perfectly, was now a giant shoe in and out. Comparison the size of my Thailand built model 1561s it was obvious. Doc, please get out of China, charge a little extra and I'll pay up no problem.

Shoe looked great new. The leather wore to an exceptional looking finish over time. However, after just shy of a year, the treads came apart at the molding... I read about quality defects after the country the shoes are manufactured in changed and wanted to think I wouldn't experience them, but whatever the cause... these shoes I thought would last (near) forever only gave me about a year of wearing them every fourth or fifth day.
