As a wearer of custom orthotics, because of incredibly flat feet, finding shoes that are comfortable and that I can wear for long periods is a challenge. Whether I'm just around home, working out at the gym, or traveling (which I do a lot), having comfy shoes that leave my feet feeling good is important to me. Avia's "cantilever design" has worked particlarly well for me. I got this particular pair of shoes to be my gym/workout shoes, replacing an older and obsolete pair of Avia's. Thus far, they have been extremely comfortable and durable. They've been not only to the gym, but around the US and Gothenburg, Sweden, and my feet are happy.

I was skeptical when I read about them but after trying them, I am sold. Very comfortable for a less expensive shoe. Would recommend them to others and will buy them again in the future.

Great shoes, I use them for Summer and Winter treadmill walking. This is the second pair of this same model. Avia changed the style a bit and did not make the blue. I really wanted another pair and Zappos still had some. First pair is not worn out yet so I'm good to go a few more years. Their cradle heel feels funny first time you put them on, but after a few times wearing them you will really like it.

The shoe is pretty standard. I got the widest size and I love how my toes are completely free. All of my others shoes, my toes are either tight around the sides or tight on the top. I recommend getting extra wide shoes.

The shoes fit, so the sizes seem pretty spot-on. They are very comfortable and breathe well. Overall I love the shoes, except that the pad insert that my foot rests on started creeping up my heel during normal wear, but only on the right shoe. I used some rubber cement to permanently attach it & that fixed the problem, but I've never had a shoe do this before.

Inexpensive, comfortable, and well ventilated makes this shoe a bargain for those of us who weigh a bit more than the average person. They allow for the foot expansion of a wide somewhat wedge-shaped foot. The toe box is generous in that regard as well. I purchased the shoe in two colors for versatility and to give each pair rotation for proper 24 hour aeration, which greatly extends the life of most shoes anyway. The shoe also yields enough interior height to allow for your choice of comfort or stability increasing orthotics. The generic sort of style of this shoe makes it acceptable anywhere an athletic shoe would be worn. The plastic insert for the top two lace holes should be of a more rigid type however, as the laces can cut through it within a couple of months if you cinch it too quickly i.e.: rushing to get out the front door!

When you're looking for a perfectly fine, basic pair of athletic shoes, these fit the bill. I don't feel like I'm walking on clouds--I have worn more comfortable sneakers--but they look good and get the job done. For the price, they are an excellent value, so if you chew up shoes quickly or if you just need something basic, I would recommend these at the $40 price point that I paid.

Slightly disappointed. I purchased this pair because I read that they were good, durable, lightweight shoes to use with arch supports or if you're kind of heavy. After a couple months I was getting compression on the outsides of shoe making them uncomfortable to wear. Upside, they were inexpensive and maybe they'll bounce back some after not wearing them for some time.

I like the shoes, they are comfortable, however they seem to run a bit small. I wear a size 12 or 13. But with these 13's my big toe tends to hit the tip of the shoe. Other than that they are nice shoes.

Avia got it right (as far as fit) with this shoe even with the slight design change from the older version of the 5020. Avia fits my feet like no other, even more expensive shoes. Although the sticky back sole designs seperate quickly you can remove them or use goop glue to reattach them. Glad Zappos gave me a chance to stock the closet before they dissapear! I use them for all around wear - not running- and they last awhile.

The nicest pair of shoes I've ever got for this price. Best running shoes I've had since original Nike Air Max.

Yes, I purchased Avia sneakers above for my husband, and he really likes them. H wants another pair with a different style. The shoes are so comfortable. It's walking on air, he says. Zappos is the perfect place to order them from. They have superior Customer Service and a lot of selections to choose from. My next order will be a pair for me. Thank you Zappos for great products.

Ordered this for my husband. He has a hard time finding shoes due to his large and normal-width (sometimes with a skinny heel) feet. He tried them on after we received them. He thought it might take a while to get used to the shoes. However, they have been great for him. He is constantly on his feet, up and down stairs, running from building to building getting his projects completed (he is in semi-conductor manufacturing). He has not complained once that his feet hurt. In the past Nikes were his go-to shoes.

Comfortable, solid feeling shoe. I'm not a runner, but wear these daily and they are comfortable. Not as comfortable as my old Nike runners, but the Avia shoes feel like they are put together much better. I would expect these to last me at least 3 years.

I visited Arizona with these shoes, and I don't think the adhesive was designed to handle 110 degree pavement. After walking for two minutes, the insets peeled off of my right shoe, and then ten steps later, the same thing happened to my left shoe. I don't mind that so much, but I also found these shoes quite uncomfortable. They seem find at the beginning of the day, but by evening my ankles hurt. I ended up retiring them after a month.
