These boots are the perfect height for my 5'2" frame. I also need something with an extended calf, and they fit the bill! I am disappointed with the amount of white streaks (blooming) that appeared quite quickly. I have tried the olive oil trick-the white streaks disappeared for about a day. Perhaps, the shiny/patent style doesn't bloom as much?

I am 5'7" and about 180lbs, proportionally structured with athletic calves. I had the Original Talls for 5 years before a friend's dog got to them and tore them apart. I had owned many, many rainboots before hand that always tore at the seams and leaked water, so when I found Hunter boots, I was majorly impressed. After deciding to finally buy myself a new pair, I decided to try out the Huntress because the Talls always were a bit tight on me(I have 15" calves). When I got them, they were beautiful and finely crafted, like the Talls but they did (like some reviews said) look blocky at the ankle and fold in funny there. They were certainly roomy enough for my calves though, which was nice! At my height, they hit where most rainboots do and I actually disliked it after getting used to the height of the Talls. I have high aches but don't actually need arch support (I am a barefoot-movement type) so to me, they were easy to wear for long periods of time and though I have walked a lot in them, I didn't do any significant distances in them (I mean, it's raining where I wear them, after all). I am also a size 9.5 and went with a 9 which was just a tad too big, even with thicker socks on but I probably would have managed had I decided to keep these. Instead, I am going back to the Talls for the sleek, slender and more refined look (that 2" in height makes such a difference to me).

I really wanted a pair of Hunter rain boots but after ordering both the originals and the Huntresses, I just wasn't happy. The shaft on the originals wasn't wide enough for my calf and while the shaft on the Huntress's was wide enough, they just looked strange. They were gigantic at the ankle and bent funny when I walked. These also run large.

I ordered these after I returned the Hunter tall, gloss, expandable back boots. I needed more space to get over my heel/ankle. I felt the they took way too much work to remove. I have very average width feet and ankles. The huntress was much more spacious in the ankle. I was looking for both function and fashion. If fashion is more important to you, the space around the ankle may look too loose and bulky to you. I also have large calves (16.5 inches). These barely fit over mine while just wearing socks and leggings and were so snug, my heel was mildly lifted on the bottom as I walked. They would not fit over my calves with skinny jeans on. After trying many brands, styles and sizes, I will be purchasing the Hunter short expandable back boots for my large calves. I was able to sample them at Nordstrom. Unfortunately, Zappos does not sell them.

I love the look of the Hunter boots, but alas, my calves are too large for them (my calves are 17"). I also tried the adjustable version of the Hunter boot, but it was too tall. I am 5'3". The search continues!

I ordered these bc I read they were for wide calves. I'm 5'2" and I've had wider calves no matter my weight. I normally wear a size 7.5 but ordered a 7 and the fit is perfect. The height is also perfect for someone my height. Only negative is that they are still snug on my calves. Not constricting tight but I was hoping for them to be a little looser.

This boot may be great but the pair that zappos sent me looked like it has seen a lot of wear. Worn treads and the material was was covered in the powdery white "bloom" (as the Hunter website calls it). Luckily I had a pair of the Original Talls to compare the coloring with or I would have been very confused. Basically looks like someone wore them for a season then returned them and Zappos passed them on to me. I will be returning. Before this I've had nothing but amazing service from Zappos so I'm sure this is just a fluke.

I got this boot after comparing it to the hunter tall adjustable boot. The latter was nice but I am a 5'4 girl and the top of the boot hits at the bottom of my knees and if I were to sit where my butt is slightly lower than my knee then it gets uncomfortable behind my thigh. Also, I had a panic attack trying to take it off. I live with my 2 9lb dogs and they were not much help. I almost called my brother to come and rescue me! My foot got stuck in the ankle part and there was suction as I was not wearing socks. The huntress on the other hand is very easy to slide into and out of. Hits me on just the right spot on my calves. I have muscular calves 15 inch circumference, and this fits me fine. I can even tuck my skinny jeans. I got navy blue instead of red because the red made me look like a clown. Matt instead of gloss as it looked more toned down and stylish.

I had to size down 1/2 size only. I like the style of the boot and the Huntress is great if you have bigger calves. I got the black and noticed that they got ashy looking after a couple of wears. I put vegetable oil on them and the shine came right back (trick), plus the water bounces right off due to oil on the boots.

I really love these boots! My only complaint is that they are a tad tight in the calves if you layer them with socks they are not as loose as I would prefer. As an athlete I run into this problem quite often. So if you have larger calves I definitely recommend the Huntress fit!

I have been wanting a pair of these boots for quite awhile now. I knew that the original would be a little too tight on my calfs. I am 5"4, 15" calf, short-ish legs, considered plus size, but my legs/calfs/ankles are not thick/puffy at all. (I am trying to be as descriptive as possible of my legs and ankles to help somebody else in my position looking to buy these boots.) I normally wear a 9, bought the 8, am quite pleased with the fit of the foot, width, etc. The boots feels well made and sturdy. There is absolutely no insulation at all so they will be perfect and pretty much any type of weather. The springtime can be pretty soggy so I am looking forward to having these during those months. You definitely will need warm socks. When I put the boots on I (originally) was quite happy. Everything fit like a glove. I also bought the Hunter Cable Knit Top Socks in Petrol Blue-really nice shade btw. I had to tuck them (socks) in a tiny bit to make them line up perfectly with the top of the boot-but that's no biggie & they look really cute. They were warm & the boots still fit well wearing them. When I had everything set I stood up, and I bent my knees, and I felt like there was a lot of excess rubber around the ankle area. When I stand up normally I don't really notice it at all. It's when you're bending your legs to walk that you can kind of feel it. It's not cute looking either. These definitely do not have the slim tapered fit that the originals do. I'm sure there is a way to create the boots so it maintains the tapered fit, and fits a bigger calf too. Boot companies do it all the time. I must have read hundreds of reviews before picking this model. I was tempted to pick the other model- the original adjustable. Women reviewed that they were very good on bigger calf's. A few also commented about the ankle baggage on that model too. Considering these took about five days to get to me, and we are expecting a lot more snow over the next week or so, I am not sure if I want to take the risk of returning them, and then finding that the new pair has the same bagginess in the ankles. Decisions. Decisions. Other than that I absolutely adore the boot. Everything was pretty much perfect- except for the weird ankle bagginess. I have the black glossy Huntress & I am being told that the bagginess is not even noticeable. It's a shame because I have a short pair of rubber rain boots that go up mid shin & they just have a normal tapered fit. They were eight dollars on the discount rack at Target , and everybody loves how bright red they are. I noticed one thing though, immediately out of the box it seems like they were lint magnets. There is also a buckle on the side, but I am not sure if it is there to help adjust the boot, or if it's just a design. I cannot get it to loosen up -or- tighten up no matter how hard I try. Drive I think that I will sleep on this for a day or two and try them on again and walk around a little bit with them. I wish I could try the other ones on before initiating an exchange process.

I purchased these Huntress boots in navy...I usually wear a 6 1/2 and I ordered a 6 - fits great, I have some room for thicker socks in winter, the only thing negative is that these boots make a "slapping" sound when I walk due to the shaft being bigger. It doesn't bother me but is noticeable. I really like these boots.

These new Huntress boots with the nylon buckle are far better quality than the old Huntresses. The rubber is thicker and I like the new shape of the boot. I am hoping that they will last longer than the 1½ years that my last pair held up.

I wanted to try the Huntress boot because I need a bit of extra space at the calf. I am 5'8" tall. I found this boot to be too wide for me and a bit short. I believe I need an adjustable width to accomodate tucked pants or none. Will look for this feature.

These definitely run big! I usually wear an 8.5 and ordered an 8. They are very roomy and if I wasn't planning on wearing them with thick socks most of the time I probably would have exchanged for a 7. I had read that the Hunter wellie socks were too tall for this style. However, I found that the smaller size sock (5-7) is the perfect height, and still has plenty of room in the foot (I could even wear another pair of socks on really cold days and they would still fit). There is plenty of room in the calf for thick socks and pants. Now I'm just waiting for it to rain so I have a reason to wear them out of the house!

These boots are a much better fit for me than the standard Hunter boots. They don't hurt the back of my knee when going up or down stairs and I can get them off much more easily. Can even tuck in skinny jeans! The one downside is that when they arrive, they smell like a tire warehouse. So be prepared to air them out. It's been a few weeks and there is still a smell, but not as strong as when they first arrived. Other than the smell, they are great. I plan to wear them with thick wool socks. Note: my green Hunter tall standard boots never had that strong rubber smell.

I probably should have rated these a 3 due to size, but I bumped it to 4 stars due to the fact that it is rare to have a boot fit my large calves and these fit my calves great with a little room to spare. These do however run big. I wear a 7 1/2 normally and since there are not half sizes, I ordered an 8 to be safe. These felt like a really big 8 as my foot came completely out of them when I tried to walk. I'm confident that a 7 will fit my size 7 1/2 feet perfectly.

I love the look of these boots, but they are too short for me and too tight on my calves. I need them for running around a warehouse & yard when it's horrible outside. I'm blessed with muscular calves and narrow ankles (I blame years of playing hind catcher), so they look pretty slouchy around the ankles. I've tried them on with everything and they are just way too tight to look good. So I will be sending them back and getting the Hunter Original tall adjustable. As far as the length of the shaft I just need something longer for a sleeker look. I'm 5'8", but I have long legs. I can't wait to get the new ones! Zappos has been amazing!

I wear a true 9.5 and ordered a size 9 which was perfect. Unlike the Hunter Original, this style wasn't tight in the calf and I could tuck in my jeans. I'll primarily wear this on the beach, so I'll update the review if they don't hold up to Pacific ocean sand and salt!

These fit fine in the foot area, but the calves were still really tight and yet very baggy/clunky in the ankle area. I have been dying for a pair, but they are so tight in the calves that I can barely get my leg in there much less any pants or leggings. I am keeping them, but I wish they fit better because I would have also ordered them in several other colors. Would also be nice if they came in charcoal gray or more colors for summer like silver or pastel blue.

I really liked this boot and I do have wide calves but not wide ankles so the ankles were bending and bunching all over the place. If your overall legs/ankles are wide then these will work but if you have small ankles they will look funny. After reading reviews about the adjustable Hunter boots I am going to try those since they fit up to 17 inch calves. Mine are 16 at their widest. In terms of sizing, I am a 7-7.5 and the 7's fit my feet perfectly.

After reading all the reviews, I thought this would be the perfect boot. I had just returned my Hunter Kids Original boot because of the reflective markers on the back, and I was hoping these Hunters would be stylish and comfortable. Unfortunately the wide calf sizing was too wide for me. I live in FL so wearing boot liners all the time isn't the right solution (I could hear/feel the boot slapping against my shins!). These boots went back and Zappos was kind enough to send me the Hunter Adjustable Boots. I am petite but athletic (I have some muscular definition to my legs) and the Adjustable version lets you really get the right sizing.

These wellies are super cute, but I have large calves and even the Huntress was tight. I can wear them with leggings, but not with skinny jeans. Also, my feet got super sweaty after wearing them around for a few hours, but I suppose that's maybe to be expected with rubber shoes? I'm not sure, I've never owned any before this.

I love the looks and fit of this boot. The only thing I don't love is the strong rubber smell. Can't leave these in my office. Hopefully smell will fade with time. I will probably buy a shorter pair also (in red!).

These are great looking, and wonderful for playing in puddles. I tried them for a volunteer gig that required standing the pouring rain for 2-3 hours and they were fairly supportive. Also, they were good, but not excellent in terms of traction and support on a rocky hiking trail. After reading the reviews, I ordered them in a size seven, which is a full size smaller and they fit fabulously. Calf size is very generous, and I can tuck my jeans in. All in all a good waterproof boot, but not the best for heavy duty hiking.
