It should be fine for an arduous trek.
I bought these boots for a trek in Ladakh, which I have yet to take. I've been wearing them once or twice a week to gradually work them in. The tricky part about boots is that you have to factor thick hiking socks when you determine fit. I think that a person should size up by a half or whole. I went a whole size up after blowing $200 on another full-grain pair of Asolos. (I beat them up so I couldn't justify returning them.) The other thing to consider is if your toes hit the end of the boot on a steep decline. For me, a whole size larger, they don't. I like these boots because they are lighter than other full-grain leather boots. The laces stay tied. I feel like I have full support. I like the look--I got the tan and orange pair. No blisters so far, although I haven't gone on a hike longer than an hour. The tongue bothered me at first; too tough against my ankle, but now it's fine. Yes, I'd recommend the boot.

These boots fit my feet like a glove! I have narrow feet and very narrow heels. The boots are so easy to lace up. I don't have to tug on the laces anymore and strain my thumbs.

This pair really exceeds all expectations. The brand lives up to its name in appearance, reliability, and comfort. After the first couple of times it became much more easier to slip into. Aside from the countless compliments I am very happy with my selection. No other brand has been able to meet my standards.

I love these hiking boots! They make me feel like I'm rolling on the trail; they have sort of a "lift and roll" to them that's difficult to describe. I do quite a bit of hiking in the summer (some long 17-mile hikes included) and some in the winter, so I am very excited to have such a fine pair of boots! I did add an insole for extra cushion, which works out well, even when I'm wearing a very thick, padded hiking sock. My foot is usually (ideally) a size 5.5 Wide, and not voluminous (i.e., it's wide, but kind of bony/skinny), so that might have something to do with the fact that I can add an insole AND really thick socks and still feel like my foot has enough room in the boot. The Asolo boot I ordered is a size 6, B width. It fits great. Enjoy!

Great shoe - Heading to Kilimanjaro in December with these shoes. So far have done a few four hour hikes and they are comfortable. I did buy special insoles to help with long downhill treks.

"I never knew a boot could fit so well. . .until Asolo"
I have very narrow feet and did not believe I could ever find a comfortable boot for a wide variety of activities until I discovered Asolo at Zappos.com. I own several pairs in a range of colors which coordinate with my casual and sportswear. I wear them for all activities - from walking and climbing the streets of San Francisco where I live to sightseeing and hiking in cities and countries around the world. I am able to wear the boot all day without any discomfort. Thank you Zappos for the Asolo selections at great prices.

Other Asolo boots depending on activity. This is the only boot I wear.

IT DID THE JOB -
All right, a review now that I've done the trek in Ladakh:
The long and the short of it is that it did the job admirably. The only person not to get blisters, too. We did arduous treks at elevation. We had to cross several high passes, and the ascents and declines were very, very steep. We also had to hike through wide river beds with lots of rocks and boulders, which proved to be the hardest part.
When going down sharp slopes, I didn't bang my toes against the end. Probably because I sized a whole size up. Great traction on boulders. Great ankle support over rocks and small boulders. Lightweight enough not to feel like I was carrying rocks on my feet. Good water protection on the day we had a downpour and when I got my boot in one river.
The laces stay tied and there are only two levels of laces to fiddle with. This section of rubber at the sides of heels got chewed up by the rocks, but nothing too bad.
The funny thing is that some of the pony men who provide trek support wore loafers or tennis shoes or, in one case, rubber sandals so I felt we were over-geared----especially when we met this young New Zealand couple who did the same trek with sport sandals!

I bought the boots for a motorcycle trip through Alaska so they needed to serve two functions - warmth and waterproof for the bike and sturdiness and grip for hiking. They performed great in both settings, however, I wasn\'t able to take the long hikes. I did get slight bruising and sensitivity around the top of the boot one leg, but I likely just hit something as opposed to poor boot design. I originally tested a lighter boot, too, which I greatly preferred in terms of comfort, yet I went with the Asolo because of their sturdiness and they did not disappoint, I got used to the heavier feel.

I wore these shoes to hike in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park at Alaska last week. I hiked on the glacier and walked over some waters. This pair of shoes is indeed waterproof and comfortable. However, after hiking on a 4.5-mile flat and moderate hiking trial, my feet became really tired. This should be my problem since I do not hike that often. Without the hiking socks, this shoes is a little bit bigger to me. But the fit is perfect with wool hiking socks. However, if socks are too thick, my right toes starts to feel uncomfortable. This pair of shoes can be better if it has the round toe design. If I can choose again, I will choose a half size larger.

I ordered the Asolo Atlantis GTX in a women's 9 which is a euro 41 1/3. I love the narrow heel, high arch support, and narrow midfoot that locks around my instep. Absolutely no sliding inside the boot. But alas, the toe box is a bit too narrow for me. I can feel the boot against my little toes. The sole is quite stiff, providing a solid platform that really keeps your ankle from rolling. I love the support and snug fit so much I tried 5 different Asolo models for women and one men's (Fugitive, men's 7.5, aka euro 40 2/3) but all make me worry about cramping or rubbing my toes. So, I am sadly giving up on Asolo. I will probably end up in a Patagonia or Salomon, as both seem to have a more generous toe box while still cupping my heel.
