Love these shoes. Still breaking them in, but the shoe is not uncomfortable. I never wear anything but flats and these are stylish and feel great. I wear a size six, these are true to size, at least for me. I have them in three colors now, and will probably be adding more to my shoe wardrobe. Enjoy.

I wanted super light weight, easy to pack slippers that also could also be street shoes if need be, and these fit the bill perfectly. They are very cute and comfy to wear around the house but I don't plan to do much walking with them. The soles are wafer thin and there is zero arch support. I can't speak to the leather Sloops, but the suede ones definitely run small. They do stretch a bit but still run a good 1/2 size small. I'm normally an 8 or 8.5 but need a 9 in this shoe.

Infrequently I find a size 10 that fits - generally 10 & 1/2 fits, but shoe manufacturers rarely produce that size. Typically my only choice is size 11. Some 11s fall off my feet, others are okay with medium weight socks. Since Sloops run small, I thought size 11 would likely be perfect without socks. They definitely are perfect - mostly. Perfect for my narrow heels - even with no arch support, still very comfortable for my low arches. The round toe box perfect for my widely spreading toes. But with great reluctance I've returned Sloops to Zappos. Even at size 11 they are too short. In spite of frequent reviewer reports that Sloops stretch and conform, I can't risk their failing to stretch enough to keep from cramping my toes.

I ordered these as a back up shoes for the heels I needed to wear to a wedding. I read the other reviews, and so I ordered my regular size and broke them in for about a week. They are mostly quite comfortable, with the exception that they press on my big toe, which has been broken several times (old dancer's injury). It makes my toenail become ingrown. The other foot is fine, so sizing up really isn't helpful. They are cute, and very soft, though.

I love my Sloops! I have several colors in the suede and decided to get the leopard print. While they are super cute, they fit very differently from my other suede Sloops! I ordered my usual size 8, and the length was perfect as usual, but they are much narrower in the toe box and a lot stiffer. Very uncomfortable and not at all what I was expecting. I think if I ordered a larger size they would just slip off at the heel since the length was spot on in this size. Sadly, I had to return (but serious props to Zappos for the most amazing shipping and return policy! I don't even shop for any shoes in brick and mortar stores anymore! Zappos is amazing!).

I absolutely love these. They provide no support, but they are still comfortable enough. I might see if I can somehow find an insert that would work here. I normally wear an 8½W and the 10 in these shoes fits perfectly. I want more colors!

I have been searching for a cute, basic black flat. These are very cute and perfect with jeans. They were snug when first received, so snug in fact that I thought they might not work but true to the other reviews they eased quickly. I would say that if they are not tight when you first get them then they are too big. The stretching is substantial.

The French Sole Sloop is very inconsistent in it's sizing. I have this shoe in three colors and each pair fits very differently. Each of the three pairs I own is a different size; 6, 6.5, 7! Love the shoe, but very poor quality control.

These were too small- and it's my normal size. The nines fit but though they are ok I don't understand all the hype. They will hopefully get more comfortable across the vamp. For the price I'd prefer my Frye's.

Still on the fence about these. They feel a little tight, but someone said that they loosen up. I may keep them.
I'm going to get the black pair next.

Very cute, very comfortable. Originally I bought a full size small, as most of the reviews here suggested - but for whatever reason, I actually needed my real size in these. I couldn't even get the smaller ones on my feet. My real size has continued to fit perfectly well as I continue to wear the shoes. They're not as appropriate for dressy occasions as the average ballet flat, but they still add some polish to a casual outfit. Wound up buying them in both the black and silver - a great shoe.

French Sole Sloop - These ran 1-1.5 sizes smaller IMO. Loved the color choices available and shoe was very soft and slipper-like. I wonder how durable they'd be for urban use, though. Didn't love the lack of support for my high arches and how big I felt they made my feet look. I am wide in the forefoot, but they could've been cut a bit narrower for a more flattering look and still have been comfortable, I think. Thanks Zappos, for making returns so easy!

My feet are annoying in that they often range from an 8 to an 8.5, so I ordered both sizes. And both fit. The 8 was a little snug, so I went with that, knowing that they'd stretch out. My toes were a little sore the first few days, but are now completely fine. Have not had any other rubbing or chafing in any other spots. If walking all day on concrete, my heels get a little sore, so sometimes I'll add those gel heel inserts, but usually I'm fine as is. They're holding up well, but I tend to drag my heels when I walk, so I hope they last a while for the price.

I ordered a pair in red suede. They are comfortable like slippers and they look adorable. I only wore them indoors and they lasted a good year or so. I would order another pair in the future, perhaps the leather and hope it wears a little better than the suede.

1 of 2: after 2 days' indoor wear. These shoes are lovely. The leather feels high-quality, the sewn construction feels reliable, and the shoes look elegant in top view and silhouette. I'm really hoping they'll stretch to fit me just right! I ordered a 7, which is my true size. The length and width fit snugly, and I'm confident the material will stretch to perfection around my foot. I can see how a half size up would eventually stretch to be too loose. My only concern with the 7s is the top edge of the shoe, which is reinforced by the stitching that attaches the inner to the upper leather -- that line is uncomfortably tight over the top of my foot. I know this part will be harder to stretch, but I need sleek black flats for an event and these were my favorites, so I'm going to try.

While I believe you need to give it time to stretch out and conform to your foot, it is pretty uncomfortable for the first while. It's a beautifully styled shoe and the quality of the leather is nice and soft.

Many of the reviews state this, but I'd like to reiterate - order your actual size! I am a "large" size 9, but am very satisfied with the 9 I ordered. When the shoes came they felt snug, but not uncomfortable. Perhaps cozy would be a good descriptor. It is clear that the shoe is stretching to fit my foot perfectly. I'm quite pleased!
It should be noted that the toe of this shoe is long compared to my other flats. I have long toes so it's not a problem for me, but I could see how the toe portion of the leather may cut into the top of the foot for some people.

These shoes are definitely tight to begin with! The left foot fit fine, but the right foot was uncomfortably tight -- first time that's happened to me. It's taken several weeks for them to get comfortable. It's a a great looking shoe on the foot.

Definitely get half a size larger. I ordered my regular size based upon the reviews that stated that the shoes stretched too much. I also have feet that are a bit narrow (not true narrows, just on the narrow side of medium). My normal size was impossible to wear for even a few minutes. It was like Cinderella's ugly stepsister and the glass slipper. The problem is not in the width, but in the length. There is absolutely no wiggle room for the toes. I exchanged them for half a size larger and even that is a little tight. If they do stretch a little that will be great. Both Zappos and French Sole's websites recommend going up half a size, and based on my own experience, that is what I would recommend.

Great looking shoe. Somewhat comfortable considering the lack of support, plus there is not much sole between you and the pavement. It won't stand up to daily wear but for the occasional outing to the grocery store or yoga class, it is perfect. I typically wear an 8 however I bought this in an 8.5. This is my second pair!

I wear a 9 or 9.5 so I ordered the 9 hoping it would stretch. However, it was too tight so I returned it for a 9.5. The 9.5 is still tight but it feels like it will stretch. It better; these are not cheap shoes! But I love the style and the leopard print. They are not for long walks however; they have little padding on the bottom so it's almost like being barefoot.

I love the shoes, but sadly too narrow for my feet. So will have to return - I love Zappos will have to find a flat that caters to my D width. :)

I started with my regular shoe size and that was too small. I ordered half a size up, and that was also too small (too short in length. I am trying a full size up next. These shoes are so cute and perfect classic ballet flats, I hope to finally get a pair that fits.

Very cute, but they run small. In ballet flats, I typically where a 9 or a 9.5. I bought the 9.5 and they were much too small. They're also great for narrow feet, which I have.

My feet are somewhat wide and my shoe size varies wildly between a 7.5 and a 9 with respect to brand. So for size reference, the most comfortable fitting shoes I've ever owned are the (now-discontinued) Crocs "Malindi" in an 8W and the Onitsuka Tiger tennis shoe in a men's 7/women's 8.5, and one of the worst-fitting shoes I've worn was the Frye "Agnes" in 8.5 (because it was way too tight in the toebox, way too narrow through the entire footbed, and it made my feet look absurdly long even though the length wasn't too large).
I ordered the Black Nappa in an 8.5. Here are my impressions of the French Sole "Sloop":
Look: These shoes are just as cute in person. They don't look very shiny, and the leather texture is a bit more obvious than it is in the picture. I thought that the tags on the back of the shoe would bother me, but they really weren't too bad. I've tried on a LOT of black ballet flats in my quest for the perfect flat, and this is probably my favorite of them all, looks-wise.
Fit: I was pleasantly surprised that the toe box did not pinch or feel too small. This means that if your foot runs narrow, this shoe may be too roomy. The cut of the foot opening around the toe looks feminine without showing any toe cleavage, which I am very pleased with. The only bad thing was that they were WAY too short! I almost felt like I was putting on a child's shoe. I checked the bottom to make sure they weren't actually a 6 or a 7... but sure enough, they really were an 8.5. I won't dock a star because I missed the warning in the product description that "French Sole recommends ordering a half size up from your regular size". They seriously weren't kidding! I definitely want to try a larger size, but I'm torn about whether I should go up to a 9 or a 9.5.
Feel: The material on the inside is soft, and the completely flat footbed had just a tiny little bit of cushion. While it feels nice, I have a feeling that the materials would be extremely likely to pick up foot odor. You'll definitely want to be proactive about deodorizing them.
