Great investment - This shoe pretty much saved my life. I have very wide feet, and it was extremely difficult to find a shoe that actually fit me. I wish they came in half sizes, but with an insole, the 8 fits fine. Thanks Zappos and Birkenstock!

Awesome for pregnancy! I'm 7 months into my first pregnancy, and these are the only shoes I can wear that don't result in my feet and ankles swelling at the end of the day. They're a perfect width, and the arch support is wonderful - I'm still fairly comfortable on my feet at the end of a very long teaching day. They look great with my dress clothes, too. My only minor complaint is that I have a black leather pair and a brown nubuck pair, both size 37 normal width, and the brown pair feels much bigger than the black pair. I compensate by wearing thicker socks with the brown pair, but it was odd - usually European sizings fit me exactly the same all across the board.

Birkenstock London, good in Boston too! Great shoe, especially for those with a wide forefoot. The heel collapses as well for an ad hoc sandal for slip on off ease. It does not have immense heel cushioning. Great all around shoe that can pass unnoticed in the corporate elevator at work. A little more padding and it would be a great city walking shoe as well, but without the padding, the heal blows out pretty quickly from pounding the pavement. But on the other hand its light, agile, and handles a puddle well, so quite adept at urban terrain. The name London suits it well.
I'd also recommend:
They have another version with more cushioning, but it does not look as professional.

Great for Plantar Fasciitis - I've suffered from plantar fasciitis for several years. Birkenstocks are now my favorite shoes - I can't believe I didn't try them sooner. I travel and walk a lot and these are now the only shoes I take. I bought the London because I loved my sandals, but needed something to wear in the wet and cold English winter. I usually wear a US 8, my Birk sandals are 39 N and perfect. London I ordered in 39 N and I think I would prefer the next size up. However, I'm usually between sizes in shoes.

Interesting Shoe - I guess I need to grow into the Birkenstock London. I bought them for a trip where I knew I'd need to do a lot of walking. I have narrow feet and a low arch so they were not so comfortable initially. However, the more I wear them the more I adjust to the contour of the shoe and all in all it's been a great experience. I hope to keep these shoes for a long while.

I live in my Birks and was looking forward to a pair that could live up to winter in the midwest. So far they are performing well, but are still very stiff. I don't recall my clogs taking so long to break in. I also developed blisters on the back of my ankles from where the leather rubs. Now that they are softening up a bit the blistering has subsided. I am a true size five and always order a 35 narrow in Birkenstocks. These shoes fit perfectly-they just need lots of breaking in.

Like - This is my first pair of Birks. After a year in Danskos and falling in them numerous times, I wanted something flatter. These are... but not quite as comfortable as I was hoping. I really loved the way Dansko's felt, they just weren't safe for me. Recently went for 5 days in San Fran and had few foot issues. My heels hurt a bit, and occasionally my ankles. Anyway, I'll be wearing these for a good year and hopefully will become a convert. Cute. Price was so high.

This was probably not a good choice for my first pair of birkenstocks. I liked the footbed. However the top is made of really stiff leather which was very painful on my feet, rubbing at the top and side. I have pretty wide feet and maybe could have used a wider width. I felt that I could not commit to the level of breaking in that would be required to make these shoes comfortable. And they are expensive so I couldn't really take the risk that they might not be comfortable even after breaking in. I will probably try a different style because I did like the footbed.

I had never tried this Birkenstock style before. They are definitely wide enough for my feet, bunions and all. Unfortunately, I ordered them one size too large so I can't really tell how they fit. I will reorder. Thank you, Zappos, for your prompt shipping.

I want oiled leather. But they sent me suede. Possibly my fault. But I am sending back. Will have to wait until they have my NARROW size in oiled leather. And that could be a long wait.

I have several pairs of Birkenstock sandals which I love and wear a lot during warmer months. I had high hopes for this shoe-style Birkenstock for winter. But, the leather was very stiff, I needed a shoe horn to get them on, and - though I had ordered my usual size - the contoured footbed did not fit the bottom of my feet. Sadly, these are going back. I will stick to Birkenstock sandals.

I like the idea of Birkenstocks but I had difficulty in putting them on so I'm returning them. This is one of the main reasons I deal only with Zappos, not having to worry about returning an item if it doesn't work for you. Thanks Zappos!

The fit was good but the tongue of the shoe rubbed against the front of my leg when I walk. I know this would be a problem. Not quite wide enough for my bunion either so I am returning.

I have a high arch and this particular shoe did not fit because of that. The shoe was tight and the strap was not long enough for me to click the strap on. I have a Boston and that fits, but I can't wear it outside with winter weather.

I was really excited to receive my new Taupe London Birks but when I tried them on, although they were the narrow width they seemed wider than my other pair. I also wanted the color to be darker. I didn’t love the shoe so I will returned.

I wear 37 in Birkenstock Arizona and Boston. The 37 narrow was too short for me. Tried the 38 narrow and the length and width were okay, but they felt very stiff. I imagine they would have broken in eventually, but want to try the soft footbed version instead. Otherwise these seem like cute little shoes and the narrow width makes them appear less bulky.

I have worn Birkenstocks for years. Maybe it is something I am doing differently, but it seems that the soles are starting to wear out faster than they did in the past. These did not last 2 years when in the past I had Birkenstocks last nearly 10.

I love Birks, and i love the look of these (I wanted a closed-toe shoe). My problem is that I can't slip them on and off without buckling and unbuckling them, and that is really a hassle and more work than tying. I'm returning them, but i wish they were easier to use because i like how they look and feel.

I really wanted to like these as I needed them for plantar fasciitis, but wow they are ugly. I'll continue wearing my Birk sandals around the house, even in the winter (with socks on--how fashionable!) I may try the Birkenstock inserts to go in other shoes outside the house.

OK - so I reviewed these on day one of getting them and trying them on BUT I have worn them a bit around my house and the tongue part cuts into my ankle - as much as I want these to work they will go back

I own dozens of pairs of Birkenstocks in many different styles. I have several pair of Bostons and turned to the London to have a closed heel shoe for winter. I usually wear a 38 regular in Bostons and 39 regular in Birkenstock boots. I ordered the 38 and 39 regular in the Londons. Neither fit. I understand the Birkenstock Break-In process. Heck, I even wrote a blog about it on my page ilovebirkenstocks.com. There was no way the Londons would fit over my instep comfortably. Where the buckle closes on the side is much more narrow than one would expect after having worn Bostons. Sadly I returned both pairs.

Ordered a 45 (12) narrow, perfect length and width, footbed is different from all the other Birkenstocks I own. arch is right under my metatarsal heads, very uncomfortable - not sure if regular would be the same so just sending back.
