my second pair - Wore this shoe more than any other to walk the streets of Rome in the past year -- it was time to buy another one and retire the first pair. Just like someone else said -- this is the closest you'll get to walking barefoot in a shoe.

I LOVE these shoes! My first pair of Keen's, but I will definitely buy another pair in the future. Well worth the money for the comfort. I wanted a funky maryjane that was comfortable enough to wear all day long, that I could pair with skirts or pants. Today was the first time I wore them all day. My feet were not tired at all at the end of the day. I even wore them without socks, and they were fine. When I first got them, I was a little worried that they might be too small. But after wearing them once, they stretched out a bit. I did cut out the elastic strap, it was unnecessary. I first bought the Keen Calistoga because I thought they were cuter, but they were really uncomfortable. These shoes are great for long hours on your feet.

Great casual shoe - Love these! At first I was skeptical about cutting the elastic, but I quickly changed my mind. They are more comfortable and easier to get on without that. Within my first 2 hours at work, already three compliments on these. Very cute, very comfy...

Keen on Keens - This shoe is everything I hoped for. Fun, funky, fantastic! It is so comfortable; I hated to take it off. On the advice of others, I ordered it a half size larger, and it is fine. I did take the elastic off though as it was too tight. Want more in every color.

Comfortable walking shoe - I had already tried this shoe on in a store before ordering from Zappos, because the shoe store didn't have the color I wanted in my size. With most Keen shoes, I buy a 7.5, while I normally wear a 6.5 or 7 in other shoes. Zappos price was more than at the local shoe store and most other places, but I figured anywhere else would charge for shipping so it sort of evened out. I received the shoes the day after ordering, which is incredibly fast. The shoes seemed a little tight at first but after just a few minutes wear they felt fine. This shoe does have the elastic strip some have said is too tight and cut it, but it doesn't bother me.

Love these shoes! This is a great pair of shoes--so comfortable; I've been wearing them non-stop. I followed the advice of the other reviewers and cut the elastic strap when I took them out of the box. I can't imagine them being comfortable any other way, and I have a narrow foot. They felt a little small, but not so small I needed a larger size.

Great shoe - I bought these shoes because I work on my feet all day and needed something super comfortable. I'm also pregnant and needed shoes that would give my swollen ankles some room. I took the advice of others and ordered a half size up and they are (nearly) perfect. The heel slips a little, but not enough to rub blisters, nor enough to convince me to send them back. I might try some inserts or mole skin. I didn't want to take them off from the minute I tried them on - though I did cut the elastic band across the top. I wish the arch support were slightly better, for my narrow feet with high arches. Nonetheless, I found them way more comfortable than the Keen Calistoga.

Love these shoes! I bought these shoes in Army, which is NOWHERE NEAR as dark as the photos online. I have several pairs of Keens, and while they all feel great, I try to find the ones that aren't too clunky looking. I expect to buy another pair of these. While Zappos' prices on these are generally more expensive than other sites, the free overnight shipping and easy returns more than make up for that in my opinion.

Love 'em - I recently ordered my first two pairs of Keen shoes. One pair was the Amsterdam. I love the way they feel. I had read the reviews and saw where others said to cut off the elastic under the buckle because it was too tight and not needed. They were exactly right. Without the elastic, you have more flexibility in adjustments. I appreciate the larger toe box than most store bought shoes offer and the arch support is excellent. The slightly lower heal takes the pressure off of the ball of my foot which is something my feet truly appreciate. I'll buy more Keen shoes!

75 year old woman loves her Amsterdam - I am new to any shoe other than SAS shoes. After Podiatry surgery on the toes of one foot last year and the other foot this year, I can wear other shoes. I began with Keens because of the wide toe box. First I tried Sydney II after trying the Amsterdam. I returned the unworn Sydney II because Amsterdam fit my essentially narrow foot better. I notice in comments about other Keen shoes, many women say they cut out the elastic band under the strap on other Keen shoes. For my foot, the elastic band is comfortable. I have 2 pairs of Amsterdam Keens, Shale color with orange stitching and Black with white stitching. I am waiting until a Teal color in the Amsterdam Keen is available in my size, I plan on ordering it. What fun it is to wear, cute shoes!

Keen Amsterdam - I love these shoes! I was surprised to read that others have cut off the top band, but I know sometimes it does feel tight, but not enough to seriously bother me. I would definitely buy more of this shoe in other colors! I love ALL Keen shoes! This shoe is true to size although some styles do require 1/2 size larger.

Great shoe - Overall I love this shoe. I love Keen's as a brand and have loved my other shoes from them. This style is tighter than others and even after cutting out the elastic strap in the middle (a must), the top rubs a bit more than I'd like. I'm sure ordering another half-size up would help. After saying all of that, I've been wearing these non-stops since receiving them and have received many compliments on the look and color (the khaki green).

Keen Comfy! I found these shoes to be extremely comfortable, without socks. However, after wearing it a whole day, I cut off the elastic strip. This wasn't needed since there is a velcro strip. I plan on taking these shoes when I go on a trip that will require a lot of walking. I love the color that I chose - Ruby Wine.

No REALLY, cut the elastic. If you purchased the 2006 version of this shoe, it has elastic underneath the velcro strap. Just read further reviews for the countless people saying how uncomfortable and utterly useless the elastic is. You'll notice that Keen got wise and the new fall 2007 version has NO elastic under the velcro strap. Just CUT OFF the elastic and the shoe is perfect, comfortable, and adjustable and stays on snugly. The elastic is unbearably tights (and I don't even have a high instep). The shale color is very nice and versatile. As usual with Keens shoes, size up 1/2 size from your normal size.

New Fan of Keens - I've seen Keens all around, but am not really that into the amphibian. So, I was very happy to find out about the many styles Keen has to offer. The Amsterdam Mary Jane is super comfortable and stylish. I am extremely happy. They do however run a bit small and should be ordered 1/2 to 1 size larger than normal.

My first pair of Keen shoes - My Amsterdam Keens are my first pair of Keens. They have been comfortable from the minute I put them on. I think the toe area is a tinsy bit wide but other than that I have no complaints.

Great & comfy!! Great comfy shoe!! Great just for running around. I can also wear them all day at work (8-10 hrs) & still walk. Own in both black & shale. Nice in winter when there is a little bit of slop on the ground, but also great in summer with no socks! Love them!

Finally, a Keen Mary Jane for narrow-ish feet! And don't be afraid to cut out the elastic; it doesn't make the shoe any more secure--its only function is to either give you a blister or (in my case) itch like crazy. That said, the Amsterdam is like a slipper--I love it! I'm currently wearing it with low cut socks to break it in since it's rubbing the back of my left heel, but in the three days I've owned it, it's molding to my foot nicely. The removable innersole is fabulous, very smooth and soft; looking forward to wearing them sans socks. Like other reviewers have said, these aren't for hiking or power walking, you will feel it if you walk on cobblestones, uneven terrain, etc. But for everyday use, they're great. The midnight is a nice neutral color with a bit of funk added via the orange decorative stitching. They're great for showing off hand-knit or tie-dyed socks! I can't say enough about Keens; they're all wonderful. Just be careful, one pair is never enough :)

A great little shoe - The first time I wore them, I had to agree with other reviewers that you need to cut the elastic strap. Once I did that, they were fine and are also easy to slip on and off. They are very comfy both for walking to work and back, as well as being on my feet for long periods of time. I also like the way they look with pants, shorts and capris.

Keen Amsterdams - Great shoe! Comfortable even across the strap on top due to elastic below it. Sleeker then the earlier "Mary Jane" styles they made. Great colors.

Great walking shoe - I used this walking around in the Italian Riviera and also in the Cinque Terre area. It is a terrific shoe. The elastic in the middle does hurt some initially but improves with use and with stretching. I love this shoe.

Keen Amsterdam rescued me from the Feet killers - I wear 11 (medium width) and these fit wonderfully! Didn't have problems with the elastic but I was aware of it against my foot so I could see how cutting it would help others. I used these for 3-weeks straight traipsing around Spain and left my other pair of pseudo-sneakers ("Rieker 42780" aka FEETKILLERS) untouched. They had decent grip when the road was slightly wet. The sole is not extremely thick so you can feel gravel and uneven cobblestone but it's not unbearable. The super-comfy insole more than makes up for it.

The elastic band - I loved the style and still do but the elastic band on top rubs a little so if you are against having blisters use socks
