I've had these for about a month now, and love them! Very comfortable, lots of arch support, plenty of toe room. They lace higher up the foot than most shoes, which I find keeps my foot from sliding forward in the shoe [I have narrow feet].

This is my fifth pair of Keens, second Austins. This new pair was a great reminder of what I love so much about these shoes. They are simply the best walking shoes I've ever worn. I bought my first pair in 2007 to wear on a trip overseas. The held up so well to around 5-10 miles of walking a day. So I've bought a new pair before each big trip I've taken. This time, I got the dark blue and brown ones...I love the new color.

My boyfriend likes these, and they are reasonably attractive. He hates boots. These are nearly waterproof and the closest to boots I can get him to wear.

The wide box really helped my bunion. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. Zappos is the only place to shop for shoes. YOU ROCK thanks!

I have used the shoes for the past month or so and they are very comfortable, what you would expect from Keen! I wear them as work shoes as they don't look too much like hiking shoes. Would buy them again.

I really like the wide toe box for comfort. I wore them right out of the box with no rubbing or tightness. Stylish and waterproof I wear them all day. Sizing is true to marking with a little extra width in the toe.

I bought these for my husband who wears a size 12, and has super wide feet. He loves them, and says they are just as comfortable as going barefoot. It is a big deal for him to say that, because he has a great deal of back pain, and many shoes, especially those where the heel is higher than the rest of the sole cause more back pain. Although a wide is not offered in this style, it is still wide enough for him. They look really nice, too. Great product.

Great shoe. My husband is really hard on shoes and wears them out quickly-this is a good, comfortable and sturdy shoe for him.

Not What They Used to Be: Quality of Keen's has gone down, the uppers separate from the sole, and worst, they have become narrower, with less toe room, and the heel is shorter.

I have owned 4 pairs of Keen Austins over the past 6-7 years. I walk about 3 miles per workday on concrete/pavement. I have also used them as my everyday/runaround shoes. My first 3 pairs of Austins were amazing: 1) Great arch support that lasted roughly 1.5 years each pair. 2) Wide toe box is perfect for my feet. 3) Sturdy construction for the type of abuse I dish out due to my gate. 4) Look and feel good for a long time. Unfortunately, my latest (4th) pair have fallen short on the overall quality I have come to expect from Keen. I have owned them for roughly 10 months and this is what I have experienced: 1) 5 months into usage they started to squeak. This is exceptionally annoying and distracting. I can live with squeak because I am a function guy ... but I don't like it. 2) The arch support has fallen dramatically in this pair. I feel as though my feet are being ripped apart. I still own pairs 2 and 3 for yard work and they are more comfortable than pair 4. 3) I have also noticed the stitching is giving way much quicker than the other pairs. I thought that maybe since I have owned 3 other pairs of the Austins that maybe it was a fluke. It isn't. I discovered my father-in-law has a pair of Austins and has experienced all 3 issues I am reporting. I suspect they have made changes to their manufacturing/quality control practices and the end result is a lower quality shoe. I am very disappointed. I also have a pair of Keen activity sandals that are roughly 6 years old. I have been a loyal Keen customer. With my latest experience, I was hesitant to give Keen my business again and moved to another manufacturer and have been very pleased with the decision. My father-in-law is looking to do the same. I have written them about my experience and have yet to hear back... I sincerely hope they look at what detrimental changes have been made with this product and correct them.

I have many Keen shoes including clogs and sandals (both great), however the (#1321) Austin Lace Up separated from the sole at the heel almost as soon as I got them, and after a few months of occasional light wear separated at the ball of the foot and significantly lost cushioning. What was good cushioning, now leaves me w/hip pain. Not satisfactory for a shoe at this price. It was comfortable, while it lasted, but is just not good enough for a shoe at this price point. I have just bought a very similar design, the Keen Finlay, which is better looking, still not beautiful, but it is comfortable, fits well, etc. Please Keen, get your quality back up to where it was. These are great shoes and they fit my feet perfectly, but some QC and better manufacturing techniques would make these an easier purchase going forward.

Wore these for a month or so, the right shoe developed problems (and I'm easy going on shoes). The interior toe area (lining/leather) separated and fell into the shoe rubbing the tops of my toes (painful). I've owned Keens prior and have not had any trouble. I don't think I will try the Austin (or similar) style again.

There is separation where the soles meet the leather on the sides of the shoe. These have not worn well at all

Second pair of Keens where the sole started to separate from the shoe after 4 months of moderate use. No excuse for such shoddy workmanship that is supposed to be a shoe for rugged use.

This is my third pair of Keens, I like these shoes. My feet run a bit narrow and I need arch support, these shoes seem to fit me well. I usually wear a 9½ and ordered a 9 for these shoes.

This is the second pair of these shoes for my husband who is on his feet most of the day. He has long narrow feet; they fit and give great support. I have the women's version; my son has the kid's. Although we all have different foot shapes and issues(mine are short with a high arch), these seem to magically fit and feel good to us all.

The Austin line of Keen shoes continues to be an excellent choice for me. I have 7 pairs and use them every day for both office and walking the dog. Their Finlay line also mirrors the construction of the Austin.

Great shoes, very comfortable, but seem to run a little big. I have a heel slipping so I added a cushion, much better. Overall, highly recommend but suggest trying on several sizes before purchasing.

For me this is an exceptional shoe. It has a soft foot bed and is roomy in the toe area. I have some foot problems, but this shoe served me well on a vacation in Ireland.

I bought these shoes for my husband in December (Christmas) and they already fell completely apart! The outsole has come off from the rest of the shoe. These used to be great shoes, but the last 2 pairs (in 1 year) have been of a much lower quality.

Great shoe but beware of shoe size: Pros: Crazy comfortable. I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day. The heels are strong and supportive. They are more comfortable than tennis shoes for long durations of time. They look really good and can be worn with about just about any type of pant. I have two friends that have a pair as well and we are all fans. Con: (well, a small con) - I'm crazy finicky about shoe size. So be warned: Keens sizes are tricky - I'm consistently an 11 in a Nike - but a 10 or a 10 1/2 in Keens. 1/2 a size smaller and you should be good to go. I've seen reviews that say "true to size" - but that is untrue. Overall: You will be very satisfied with this shoe. If this pair ever wears out, I'll probably buy another pair. Zappos has got some crazy good customer support to take care of you as well.

I feel like I need to chime in here with my opinion about the Keen Austin. These are great looking shoes, and they fit comfortable right out of the box, as others have pointed out. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the sole from my shoes began to separate significantly from the leather after owning these shoes for only a couple of months. It happened a few days after I went for a hike and was caught in a moderate rainstorm. I kept hiking. The shoes got wet. No big deal. But a couple days after that, I noticed that the glue holding the sole to the shoe (on both shoes) had failed at the point where my foot bends. I was bummed and perturbed to say the least. I mean, after spending a hundred bucks on shoes, you expect them to last more than a couple of months. Now, I have owned the shoes for about six months, and I continue to wear them. They still feel great, and I still love the way they look. Thankfully, the sole has not continued to separate to the point where it disconnects entirely from the shoe. In other words, they are still wearable. But my point is that a "high quality" leather shoe at this price point should have some longevity and durability to it, and that is just not the case with these shoes. This is not my first pair of Keens. I like them, and despite my grumblings, I may decide to purchase from them again in the future. I just feel like I have to let others know that these shoes (specifically my pair and those of the other reviewer) seem to have a manufacturing defect according to the design and materials used.

These are great shoes. I wear them for every day use. They are on my feet all day and they still feel great. They look good with all casual wear and I love the toe guard.

Overall I liked the way the shoes fit and they were comfortable, but they didn't last nearly as long as I was hoping. I wear them daily for work in an office setting, and within 6 months the sole started separating from the upper, on both shoes. After about a year they are literally falling apart. It's too bad because they look nice and are comfortable. I won't be purchasing these again.

My dad, 89, is on a walking kick. I bought a pair of these for him. He said his toes had too much room. I called Zappos and they sent another pair 1/2 size smaller before I sent the others back. Dad is real happy with these, says they are real comfortable. Great and pleasant customer service. Keep up the good work, I'll be back.
