Timberland Alyse - This is a great boot with jeans or slacks. Comfortable for a lot of walking and standing, especially if you travel and stand around job sites like I do as a construction manager. Inside top of boot did have rough nylon stitching that rubbed on skin, had to find and file it smooth. My first pair was slightly defective - the heel was not aligned with back of shoe and top of heel chipped after 1st day of wearing. Zappos provided excellent customer service and sent me a replacement pair, and I returned the other at no charge shipping.

Comfortable basic black boot - This is your basic, nothing fancy, comfortable black, wear with jeans boot. From the side...it's a nice looking boot. From the top, it could use a bit more shaping and style. But maybe that's why it's comfortable...it doesn't squash your toes into some bizarre shape that's in "style". It's the kind of boot you don't have to worry about but still feel like you look nice. It's not prissy, and it's not manly. But it doesn't have tons of pizzazz either. If you just want a good winter boot to wear with jeans, want it to be as comfortable a nice boot can be...then this is your best bet (especially given the price). If you're looking for a boot to "wow" you...this isn't it.

Overall Great casual boot - This is a simple black ankle boot. Can be worn great with jeans or business casual. I love the boot, pretty comfy and I walk all day at work and am hard on my shoes. I get tired of wearing Dansko every day to work as they aren't the most stylish shoes and these work great. They aren't Dansko comfy, no arch support, but otherwise really hold up well. I liked the black so much I ordered the brown, but had to send them back because they were a lighter/medium carmel brown color and I prefer chocolate / dark brown.

Timberland's Alyse - These boots looked great and felt good when I first put them on. There is plenty of toe room without the boot looking clumsy and they tuck easily into even narrow pants. I have a job in which I am standing/walking all day and I found after the first day wearing the Alyse that the heel was a little too high because I felt as if I were being pushed forward as I walked. I ended up having the shoemaker trim the heel about a quarter inch and now they're perfect. I have problem feet and can't wear a high heel so this may be just due to my own situation. Otherwise, I love the boots because they go with the clothes I wear everyday, from skirts to slacks to jeans. The leather is soft yet the boots feel very sturdy and well made.

The shoe looks very nice but runs kind of small. I have to wear a very thin sock with it. Overall I really like the shoe and wear it to work everyday.

A beautiful boot with reasonable comfort- I love this boot! I have it brown and black. The leather in the upper is gorgeous. For boots with heels, these are really comfortable and I'm someone who hasn't worn heels in while. They're not walk around all day shoes, but fabulous for work if you sit down some of the time.

Comfy for a whole day !! This boot is exaclty what you are looking for. I was hoping to be more intersting as design.

I've been looking for a good pair of black boots that go with jeans or nicer pants. These boots are perfect. They are also very comfortable and only took a couple days to break in.

Looking Good - Great look, but I have a high instep and I was afraid it would not loosen up enough.

comfy, casual boot - Overall a good boot. Nice soft sole. Good with jeans. Very casual look. I wish they were a little more dressy, but I'm glad to have them. The length of the sole, from the heel to under the arch, is perfect. But slightly long in the toe. I'm a size 10 and I can wear thick socks with these.

Needs to be wider over the bridge of my feet - I love the way they look on my feet, and I surely love the colour (that is the main reason why I purchased them)...however, I was disappointed that they were so snug over my bridge...I forgot Tim shoes/boots run a little bit more narrower than the hiking boots.

Great Shoe without socks... I have been searching for a comfortable stylish work friendly boot that I could also wear in the winter and not have to worry about falling on my butt when it snowed. Not so easy when you are a plus size girl with plus size ankles and calves. Well this boot did it for me. It has good tred and it is very comfortable and looks good too. The only draw back is I usually like to wear socks with boots especially in the winter and these are not sock friendly boots. I am not sure if it is the lining of the boot or the angle your foot goes into it, but your feet end up strangled by your socks. Minor inconvience. But I wear them with stockings and they were really comfortable and even on a cold day my feet did not freeze. Overall great shoe with black pants or jeans!

Timberland Alyse-These boots were made for walking. These boots can be worn with jeans or dressy pants. I received so many compliments when I wore the black pair which was a gift that I decided to purchase the brown. My only complaint is that I wish it were a chocolate brown as oppose to a reddish brown. The picture is very deceiving but I don't plan on returning them. I am very happy with my purchase and the shipping is wicked FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kudos to Zappos and their great customer service.

Very comfortable - These boots were suprisingly comfortable with the very first wear. I stand on my feet for 8 hours and these made it all the way through. My only complaint is the color. I ordered the brown smooth leather expecting them to be a dark brown from the picture. They are actually closer looking to the tan smooth leather picture. But all in all...I would definitely recommend them.

The best comfort and style boots -

A Tad Narrow but Kudos Overall! I love the look of this shoe and it is very comfortable. The only thing is that it is a tad narrow. Once you have the shoe on for a few minutes it seems to feel OK. I couldn't have worn the next size up to compensate for the narrow width. In general, the next Timberland shoes are very stylish with great looking comfortably rugged soles. I would recommend.

Nice look, but not very comfortable - The look of these boots is awesome. They are okay to wear for short periods of time with not very much walking. The description stated that the heel was wood. I should have paid more attention to that. They would have been so much more comfortable had this been rubber or whatever material the rest of the sole is. I guess some would like the sound of it as it reminds me of a cowboy boot. I would take comfort over that any day. Still they do look great. Zappos service is absolutely unbeatable by ANY store on-line or brick and mortar.

It's okay, but I wouldn't buy it again - These shoes look good and transition well from casual with jeans to dressy with slacks. I bought them for work because I walk on concrete floors. They are not as comfortable as I had hoped and they are heavier and clunkier than I expected. They're okay, but not for hours of standing and walking. By the end of the day I can't wait to get them off.

This Boot Needs more elastic! This boot looked cute with jeans, very rugged and nice comfortable heel height. I found the top to be uncomfortable. It didn't move with you, but rather dug into my upper ankle with an uncomfortable hard leather feel. It may be more comfortable after it is broken in, but I didn't want to wait for that! I like my shoes/boots to be ready-to-wear out of the box. Unfortunately, they were very cute, but I had to return them.

Great but not for really cold weather! Maybe it's just that I'm new to the Midwest but I was hoping this boot would be good enough for cold snowy walks, boy was I wrong! The sole under the toes is so thin the cold gets right in! Not great for longer walks either as there's not much cushion. I still wear them just about everywhere but I'm looking for a better cold weather boot.

Great initially but not durable - I bought this boot last year. It was exactly what I was looking for - a simple black boot with a 2" heel to wear with jeans and trousers. This one fit the bill, and the smart comfort system worked great initially, but by 7-8 months later, my feet hurt after a day of wearing them. By the time the year anniversary rolled around, I had to toss them. The forefoot cushioning was especially bad - I felt like I was walking barefoot on cement. I don't expect a lifetime of wear out of them, but I did expect more than I got. I won't come back to this one.

I wear size 7 1/2 with a flat foot that "swims" in many shoes. When I tried on this boot in 7 1/2, I could only fit my foot inside when wearing a very thin sock (or tights) because the shoe was rather snug. It felt like it would be pretty comfortable. On the other hand, there was a wide gap above my ankle, probably because my legs are thin. Overall, on the style chart, this boot is neither here nor there: it needs to be clunkier to look hip, or a little dressier to wear to work and look professional. I am going to return it.

Stiff - I was really looking forward to this boot because it is exactly the look I was looking for to travel in, but I'm sorry to say that these boots were very stiff. I think I was hoping they would be more like a glove, with softer leather. Of course I may have gotten the wrong size, or maybe they simply require some breaking in. However, I'm not willing to put in the time to get them soft enough that my ankles aren't rubbed raw by the stiff zipper, or that they don't feel unbending as you walk. Sorry, Zappos, they are going back.

Very Narrow! I loved this boot, but could not keep it as it was to narrow for my foot. I usually wear normal width shoes. It’s a shame as it is exactly what I was looking for.

Boring Boots - These boots are boring, fit big and have little panache. Did not return them because I really wanted them to work for me, but after several wearings I still do not like them.
