Spira Classic - This is the second pair of Spiras I have purchased in the last 4 months. I found I needed a 1/2 size larger and wider than other shoes. I find they are very comfortable. I notice a big difference in shoe comfort when I change from my work shoes to the Spiras. I purchased my first pair to hopefully avoid surgery due to plantar fasciitis. Has worked so far.

Constant Boring Pain - Gone - The $150.00 inserts were replaced by the $350.00 inserts which were modified twice after the plantar facia (sp)operation. The foot hurt at different muscles and bones than before treatment started about two years earlier. Acknowledgment that the boring pain was about to happen gripped me each morning when I was about to get out of bed. Now, with the Spira, I am without the boring pain.

These are the best ! I have never paid this much for a pair of shoes, but they are the most comfortable pair I ever bought. They are worth every penny. I stand on concrete every day at work and I just can't tell you how comfortable these shoes are, and the soles are not slippery. I love the springs in them. I was amazed. I did order a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear. They fit great.

SPIRA CLASSIC WALKER SHOE - I've been buying my shoes from Zappos for the past few years because I have a large foot 13-4E and I like their large choices and service. I am a right leg amputee whose left leg wears out the heels of my shoes. I have been trying different manufacturers of shoes to find one to give me support and cushioning. I bought the Spira at Christmas but haven't tried them till yesterday (when I got a new leg). Boy! What a surprise. It is like walking on a plush carpet in your bare feet. It took me a little time to get used to this but what a relief to my amputation and my other foot. The shock absorbing and comfort are great. I'm a big guy, 410lbs, 6ft. and go through about 4 pairs of shoes a year because of the heel breaking down on my left foot. I bought the shoes after reading all your reviews about people that stand all day. Figured I'd give them a try. Glad I did. If you're an amputee or have knee and leg problems I definitely recommend these for you. I can walk again without pain or stress. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Definitely will buy another pair.

Finally relief from knee pain! I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of both knees in 2004.Knee surgery was advised but due to the high cost even with insurance help I have been putting it off. I do take some pain medications that help some. Being almost 60 I figured I would wait 5 years until medicare was available. Then I read about Spira type design in a tech magazine. So I checked them out in ZAPPOS, I read the shoe reviews and bought a pair of Classsic Leather, where were they when my knees were being trashed by standing and working on concrete all day I think if these shoes had been available 10 years ago my knees would not have deteriorated as rapidly, if at all. I am extremely impressed, the pain has diminished at least 75% my whole outlook on what I can now do without suffering later has changed. I would strongly recommend that anyone starting to experience knee pain or has been diagnosed with arthritis of the knees to buy a pair, you will be amazed I was and I'm considered a skeptical person. I am 6ft 3in. 265 pound guy not exactly a light-weight and the shoes are holding up great. Buy em... what have you got to lose!

Women with knee and hip problems - This is an awesome shoe for people with back trouble and any kind of spinal or leg arthritis, and if you have any kind of foot swelling this is a shoe that actually will allow you to swell and go back to its original shape when you are not swollen.

To Spira or not to Spira - I thought I died and went to heaven when I spent my first day in my Spira Classic Leather shoes. Now I'm not your average customer - I have one leg that is almost an inch shorter than the other, and a damaged right leg from a bad injury many years ago, and I need both orthotics and a lift in my shoes. These are the best I've found in the 15 years I've been trying - and the support and cushioning of the springs last SO much longer than the ordinary athletic shoe stuff. I mean, I loved all my New Balance, Nike, and Brooks models, but their cushioning, and ability to stand up to my injury and my orthotics and my weight, just wore out way to fast. Not my Spiras! I'm about to order my third pair - but not because any have worn out - just for the variation in colors.

No more Back Pain - When I first received the shoes, even though I had ordered them a half size larger and wider than what I usually wear, they were still too short and too narrow. When I re-ordered them a half size larger and wider, they then fit perfectly.

A dream come true.... I have suffered from heel spurs for over 2 years now and work in a doctor's office so am on my feet all day long. There were days when I would literally hobble into my house because my feet hurt so badly. I took pain killers daily just to get through the day. The first day I wore these shoes, they were comfortable, but didn't really notice any improvement in the pain. Each consecutive day afterwards, though, the pain is less and less, and after wearing them daily for a week, my pain is almost completely gone!!!! I will never buy another brand of walking shoe again. These are the most amazing shoes I have ever worn!! As an added bonus, I wear a men's 9.5EEEE and they make my huge Flintstone feet actually look small, and not so wide. All in all, an absolutely wonderful, comfortable shoe. I am hoping that they will eventually make a slightly dressier style so that I can wear them everywhere.

Better than the reviews - I read a lot of reviews about this shoe, mostly all pro. Some raters seemed to be overly critical, with what seemed to be unrealistic expectations, but I paid most attention to those people that were on their feet a lot i.e. a waitress and nurse and they were very positive and straight forward in their evaluation. When I received my order, I found that the shoe size was perfect and to my surprise they did not need any break in at all, but were very comfortable right out of the box. Yes they have become my favorite. An excellent shoe I will recommend to anyone.

Overall, a very good shoe - My husband has very wide feet and chose the Spira for his work shoe. While he has difficulty with the width and comfort of even sneakers, he finds these shoes to be very comfortable and supportive. On a negative note, they are not as slip resistant as he'd hoped.

Great Walking Shoe - Great cushioning, great walking shoe. Only issue is that it runs a bit narrow. I needed the EE while I usually have no problems with a normal D. With the wider size, there's good toe box depth to accommodate an orthotic. Very comfortable shoe.

I work as a meat cutter & am on my feet all day on a concrete floor plus I don't have a vehicle so I walk everywhere I go. I average 8+ miles per day. My feet were killing me. I read about these shoes in a catalog my mother gets & she found them on Zappos.com, so I had her order a pair. As soon as I put them on, my feet felt better. I rarely feel the gravel in the road that I am walking on & am able to work 8-10 hrs per day without the stress of hurting feet. These shoes are absolutely "THE SHOE" - good quality, good looks and great comfort. I will be buying a second pair as soon as I can. Would love to see Spira put this "Wave Spring" technology into a hiking/work boot, insulated and water proof for winter. SD Martin

Jack's review - I am an overweight Registered Nurse who usually wears out a pair of work shoes in less than 6 months. The first pair lasted 9 months. This is my second pair of Spira shoes. They feel very good and relaxing when I wear them. Zappos had the shoes on my back porch within 3 days after ordering them online. Thank You Zappos!!

Great Shoe. I work in the shipping department of a clothing manufacturer. I'm on my feet all day handling heavy boxes of garments by hand and with a hand truck and we don't ever get to sit down. The floor is concrete. In the past, after working all day, my feet and legs were always sore. Now the majority of that is going away. I've had these shoes for 2 and a half weeks and they keep feeling better. There has been a "getting used to" period. The top side of the shoes have made both of my little toes bit sore. It's incredibly hot in the warehouse environment and the shoe is a bit warmer than my previous shoes. If your foot is a bit wide by all means get the wider width. In the past when I would wake up in the morning and get out of bed, my legs and feet were incredibly sore and normal walking would'nt kick in until the joints warmed up, so to speak. Now, after wearing these shoes, all of that is to a minimum. Do my feet still get tired? Yes they do, but I'm on them all day carrying extra weight sometimes for 12 hours. The good thing is it feels as though my permanent soreness is going away and that alone is worth the price of this shoe. Would I buy them again? Definitely yes!

Used to buy NB to get my width. Now I have bought another pair of these because they actually fit my wide feet. The arch support is not what I need but my orthotics handle that. Good shoes...spendy but good.

These are billed as being a bit narrow and indeed are good fit for my narrow feet. No break in required. Nice. These shoes are rather pricey, and they need to last for a year. If not, I'll write again and tell the story. The heel springs were squeaky for awhile, but it seems to have stopped. Frankly, I'm a bit wary of Chinese shoes and hopefully Zappos will take a look at other options with a quality build in mind. For now, the Spiras fit and feel fine. Hopefully they will hold together.

Spira Walker - I am a devoted Brooks fan but decided to try the Spira. It is a very nice shoe, very comfortable and provides nice support. It is also ugly, what my kids describe as an "old man's shoe". But, I'm an old man so what the heck. I would recommend it. It is everything it claims to be, but, to be honest; I think I still prefer the Brooks.

One of the most comfortable shoes I have worn. This shoe is so comfortable. I love the extra thick sole and firm cushioning; my feet do not "sink" into the padding. I feel like I am walking on air. Not the best looking exercise shoe, but the best fitting for sure.

REVIEW OF WALKING SHOE- Have a problem with left foot due to arthritis and a tear in a tendon which requires surgery to repair. Over the past two years doctors thought the problem was simply tendonitis. I tried many other shoes of all types with little relief and several pairs of custom orthodics. Spira shoes have by far provided the most relief from pain and in normal daily waking have reduced the pain level significantly. While the tendon tear will be surgically repaired soon, I plan to wear only Spira shoes in the future. The shoes run one size smaller than my regular shoe size. Spira needs to offer wide widths that follow regular shoe widths.

Spira - This shoe is very comfortable. The sole is a little thicker than I am used to, but I got used to it fairly quickly. Functional and comfortable. On my last trip, TSA told me the soles have metal disks in them, they wouldn't make it through TSA walkthrough screening and they have to go on the belt for xray. TSA might have been lying but that's what they told me.
