Difficult sizing for me - I have Achilles tendonitis and had to find solid shoes with a little more heel. These certainly fit the bill of being solid (but not heavy), very good arch support. My problem is that I wear an 8.5m in all but really high heels and running shoes (9). The 39 is supposed to be 8.5-9. It would never fit a 9, and is JUST long enough to fit an 8.5. In the 39 the arch fits perfectly, but the straps are tight. In the 40, the length is better but the straps, which ARE looser, hit my ankle bone. The 39 fits my daughter-in-law's 8M foot perfectly. The placement of the straps over the toes is good and doesn't rub the pinky. I am keeping the 39 and having the straps stretched a bit. Good looking chunky sandal. I have the oiled brown and it looks great with jeans, but could also work for peasantry skirts or jeans shorts. I also got the pistachio patent, but thought they looked gigantic and I sent them back. I also have Monets, which are looser-strapped, but are making my little toe very angry because of the strap placement. I think Monika will be perfect when I break in the straps more. I highly recommend this sole for problems with plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendons! I'm saying this shoe feels a full size short, narrower, and very good arch support. Solid shoe!

Dansko's are always a great choice! These shoes receive tons of compliments and are both comfortable and versatile, going well with casual and somewhat dressy outfits. They have only one drawback....the dye (natural dye, I guess) gets all over my feet if I don't wear hose (and it's summertime!) and it's nearly impossible to get off, even with scrubbing. So either I only wear these shoes and never go barefoot OR I look as though my feet are dirty! I wish that Dansko could recommend a remedy for this problem.... Oh, also, the 'toe box' is quite snug, so if you need an extra wide, don't order the normal width.

They run small but last forever - Dansko always runs small. I knew that so I ordered a 43, the largest size available. They are still a bit small, but with the open toe they will work. Even with that they feel great with the support and the way it hugs your foot. My feet ache wearing skimpy sandals; these give a great sandal look with a sturdy support. I have had a pair of similar Danskos for over 20 years, I still wear them.

Not for those with a high instep - I love Dansko’s but not all styles fit my feet. This is not a good shoe for those who require "extra depth" or have a high instep. I would recommend Dansko' Lolita or Flora (discontinued?) as good shoes for a high instep. I could not even squeeze my foot into my regular Dansko size.

Great sandal - After a one-day break-in period, these sandals are great. There was slight discomfort on my little toe joint, and some black staining on my big toe nail, but these issues have resolved. Great support, easy to walk miles in. Wore them 12 hours at a trade show.

I bought these in my regular size and they fit great. They are very comfortable and look nice with casual outfits. I have the brown and they do scuff easily but still look okay for a casual shoe.

Nice looking, comfortable, versatile - They look good with almost anything. They could use a bit more cushioning, but mostly they're comfortable. You can walk fast in them without a problem. I have black, bone & brown oiled. I think the brown is the best-looking pair. The unattractive-looking area is where the straps are stapled onto the platform. Hard to understand them leaving it like that. But I will definitely buy these again when necessary. My first pair finally died after 8 years. I've always worn Size 9. I had to get a 40 in these.

My Bunions Hurt!! I know that Danskos are supposed to be super comfortable, and they are, everywhere but my bunions. The straps are thick and really irritate my feet there...ouch! They may not work out for me.

Dansko Monika - Liked this shoe. Very comfortable! I ordered the brown and they were so comfortable that I decided to order the black. I do have two complaints though - the black ones turn your toes and the sides of your feet black (the weather has been cool so it is not from sweaty feet). Soap and water will take it off but if you want to slip your shoes off while at the pool, etc., you will have black feet. Maybe this will go away after wearing them a while. 2nd complaint - about the brown pair - the part where your feet and toes hit the shoe turns brown after wearing them one time. After having them on for about 2 hours, I noticed that the area that my toes hit the shoe made imprints that have stayed a few shades darker than the actual color of the shoe (which is beige on the brown pair) and again, not from sweaty feet. Wish I hadn't had these two problems because other than that, they are very comfortable and I would have considered buying them in other colors. Just thought that for the price, I wouldn't have such a problem.

Dansko Monika - For a slide shoe, this stays on better because of the long top. A flattering, casual look, feels stable when walking. Not as tight as some sandals I've bought. Comfy.

Nice looking sandal/clog - The sandal is very nice looking in blue patent leather. It's true to size length-wise, but it is small around the toe area. Still waiting for it to break in. The best part is it does feel secure on your foot because it has a lot of coverage.

Comfortable shoes - Previous reviewers were right, this shoe runs a bit smalller than other Dansko shoes.

Pleased with product - I already have a pair of Danko full back clogs and love them. I knew the Monika would be as comfortable as well. I wear both types to work and casual and have been extremely pleased. I wish they were available in 1/2 sizes.

Monika Review - I like this shoe very much, but it fits differently than the other Danskos I've had. If you wear a half-size, definitely get the next size up. I wear a 7.5, and the 38 was a perfect fit. The shoes hit my pinky toes at a weird spot - they kind of bump up against one of the leather strips. They look fantastic (I got the black on black), and I walk all over the city in them. I hope they last like Danskos are known to last (I've had the shoes for not quite a month)

Great all-around sandal! Now that I have these, I understand why they're a classic - what a great sandal! I have the tangerine, which manages somehow to work almost as a neutral color and is just plain fun. These are comfortable and easy to wear right out of the box and look good with almost any casual outfit. I hope Dansko makes the Monika forever, since I can see I'll always want to have a pair of these.

Great shoe-runs small - Beautiful looking shoe with lots of support. I usually wear a women's 13 medium, and even though Dansko says a 13 in US size is a size 43, I find this shoe runs a little short and a little narrow.

Some Style for a Change - I like the Monika, but would like half sizes in Dansko. It is quite comfortable.

Pretty shoe, but too tight at the toes - This shoe, in tangerine, is very pretty; however, this style is not as roomy at the toes as the professional and Sonja. It would be better for slightly narrower feet.

NOT TRUE TO SIZE... This shoe is narrow and smaller than a true size 39. I purchased three different pairs of size 39 shoes, two of the pairs fit great and I couldn't even get my foot in the Danskos. I am normally a size 8 ½ - 9 with a slightly wider foot. My foot has never required a wide width shoe.

Defect in design?? I love the shoe and Zappos has been great with the ordering and returns I had to make because of fit; however, the shoe appears to be falling apart already after only wearing it 5 times! Hopefully that is an isolated account. I'll try to return...

Wish I could wear them - I seem to do better with the Dansko Golden Gate sole than the clog sole. That said, I own and wear a pair of Professional Clogs just fine. But I tried these in two sizes, and there was no way I could wear them. My Professional Clog size (and all other Dansko’s) is 41. I could not even get the 41 on! I tried again with a 42. These I could get on, but my foot was positioned really strangely by the straps. It rolled inward, and was just completely uncomfortable and wrong. It's too bad, because I was looking for a "sturdy" sandal in oiled leather to do housework and cooking in. And these do seem to work for many people. So give them a try, but if these aren't for you, try a Dansko Golden Gate sole.

Dansko Monica - I loved the shoe as soon as I put in on. Never had a shoe feel so good on the first try. I do have a problem with the black dye "bleeding" all over my feet though...I have worn the shoes 3-4 times and the dye is not as bad, but I still have black feet [light vs dark initially] when I take them off. I ordered the Dansko Anvril's and they were not a comfortable fit [width] & were immediately returned.

Monika - Monika shoes fit too small for me. Needed at least a 39 and I wear a 7.5 normally. Also didn’t care for the way the sole looked on the side. Looked like fake cork. Must return. Sorry Dansko.

Good idea... I was hoping for pretty sandals with a bit of hight, so that I can wear my longer pants in the summertime. Unfortunatey, these shoes were too narrow for my foot, but they made a perfect gift for my mother, who has much narrower feet than I do!

I love Dansko, but these didn't look great on.
