Great fit and feel. Styling lacks a little but I bought these for all day comfort which it excels at.

Mephisto Cap Vert - Very attractive, comfortable and durable shoe but feels slightly larger than the cordovan color version I bought in a retail store. Zappos.com gave great service. I esp. appreciated the prompt delivery.

I have been buying this shoe for years and this was my 12th pair. I have never worn as comfortable a shoe, certainly not one as stylish.

My wife bought a pair of these shoes for me years ago. Used them while traveling in Europe. Liked them so much I've replaced them many times. They wear like iron. They are extremely comfortable.

I’ve had my eye on the Mephisto Cap Vert shoes for a while. I’ve been looking a stylish pair of brown shoes to wear with casual clothing. These did not disappoint. I have several things to comment on. • They are great looking shoes, feel very well made and are comfortable. I am super fussy, especially when spending this much money on a pair of casual shoes. • Right out of the box, they looked and felt a little stiff, but after a few hours of wearing them they have softened and now feel great and look terrific. • I am a size 9M or 9D in nearly every shoe I wear. I read all of the reviews, so I knew these shoes would be big, so I ordered an 8-1/2 instead. I put them on and there was too much slip in the heel. I could tell that as the shoes relaxed and softened, that they would get even bigger. So, I ordered another pair in a size 8. When I put them on, at first they were just a little snug, but I kept them on for a couple of hours. When they warmed up, they seemed to soften and fit around my foot much better. I’ve worn them for a couple hours at a time, two or three times this first week. They fit perfectly now the moment I put them on. I really like substantial, yet soft leather. (They weren’t soft when I got them but they are now.) • The insole is comfortable and provides firm support, however, for a shoe that is considered a comfort walking shoe, I am really surprised by the lack of arch support. I don’t think this will be a big issue for me, but more arch support would have been better. • Zappos was terrific. When the first pair of shoes I received were too large, I called Zappos and they overnighted a second pair to me. They allowed me to compare them side-by-side before I sent one pair back. They also provided a pre-paid shipping label. I packed them up and dropped them off at the local UPS store. Zappos always makes buying shoes online so easy! • I wish Zappos sold shoe polish to match the shoes that it sells! • I will be a return customer!

My favorite shoes. I wear them both casually and with a suit. The most comfortable penny loafers I have owned. They look nice and clean easily.

I normally wear a 11.5 M and 45 was recommended per size conversion chart - That size was too long and loose when I tried it on - I ordered the next size Down (44) and it fit perfect - Took these new shoes on the road without any wear in and they are excellent - Highly recommended - Thanks !!!

The Mephisto Cap Vert is one of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. This is my fourth pair. I have one in each color and one that my dog tried to eat that I wear when working around the house. They seem to last an extremely long time and if I take care they look good for years.

These are excellent shoes as are all Mephisto shoes. They break in almost instantly and are indestructible. The feature where they overhaul the shoes for a small fee is valuable.

Comfortable, thick sole. Had to buy half a point smaller size than I normally do.

Great shoes... well constructed and comfortable for long walks. The thick sole is a bonus for me as they won't need resoling for a long time. Zappos was perfect... I will be a return customer.

Love the shoes. Follow the suggestion and order a size smaller than normal as they tend to run large.

An attractive can-wear-all-day-in-comfort shoe. I usually wear and 11-1/2 wide. Since these shoes do not have width options, I wear a 12. It fits fine.

Goethe's choice - Only briefly does it feel like one has sold their soul to the devil to pay for these shoes. One soon realizes that a fine investment has been made. Without qualification, these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever purchased.

Comfortable but felt about a half size too big

Mephisto makes fine shoes but more than a bit pricey. I have had several pairs of Cap Vert and been satisfied with their looks, fit, comfort and especially durability. They are very good boat shoes with conventional styling and are suitable for everyday wear as well as boating. I would buy other styles if they were more affordable.

Nice looking shoes but just felt too large.

Gorgeous leather & color - Besides the hideous Mephisto tag that cheapens the look of all their shoes, the Cap Vert's leather quality and color whispers pure class. With or without socks the smooth leather lining accepts your feet like these are high end slippers, and like slippers these have no arch support. Seem like they are sturdy enough to last, but even I can't imagine them lasting 3 times as long as excellent penny loafers that are 1/2 the price, such as HS Trasks. In fact for only $100 more you can buy the highest quality shoes made, genuine cordovan pennies. I have cordovan wing tips that are two decades old that wouldn't be much more in price but certainly would work. Too bad Ecco can't make a penny this stylish. They could eat this market up. Nice shoe but about $100 too much and not enough difference from other quality comfort pennies.

GREAT SHOE WITH A GREAT FLAW! Very stylish with support to spare, this shoe is flawed only by the fact that it is entirely too tight around mid-shoe. There is simply no way to slip on this "slip-on". Still, once on the foot, it feels good and provides above average comfort and support. This is the third pair of Mephistos that I have purchased and the only one to be so tight. Also, the shoes were not shipped in a Mephisto box, leading me to believe they may have been returned from someone previously.

Time will tell - The Cap Vert loafers are at least my 3rd pair of Mephistos, the other two being lace-ups and extremely comfortable and appropriately basic in style. My kind of shoe. In semi-retirement I want slip-ons, decent looks and comfort. Above all comfort. My old, rubber soled LL Bean penny loafers have about had it and they don't carry a comparable product any longer. I wasn't looking to spend close to $300 as, being retired, that kind of expenditure will mean my wife doesn't eat for two weeks (but they don't have to be two weeks in a row). Having tried 3 other pair of less expensive penny loafers, these clearly are the most comfortable, with no leather softening, breaking-in necessary. How they could make such a nice shoe while nearly ruining a classic look is a trick known only to Mephisto, but since I'm no beaut, either, I'll let that pass. As for comfort, the big issue, they're great...yet, yet, they can be uncomfortable, actually hurt a bit, on the top of my arch, but not always and not in the same place. Odd. Other shoes I tried would annoy me with tightness, etc., but not with this particular defect, if you will. I think a little wear will cure the problem and I'll be able to wear these all day and not even know they're on my feet. Oh, the diarrhea brown color is ugly, too.

Disappointed with these shoes. The stitching split up the front side of one of the shoes. For the price I would have expected a better quality of stitching. I have never experienced this problem before with any priced shoe!

Mephisto (according to my husband) are usually great shoes! He was hoping for a true cordovan, but this is listed as "wine" on the box and the color is truly a dark brown and seems to be without a hint of cordovan or red; so he is returning it, plus the fit was not right and virtually no arch support in this particular shoe.

This shoe is a tragedy--so good looking, and from the outset so nicely-fitting, so comfortable, but 24 hours later it's as if the pair is a whole size larger. I wear a men's 11.5 and sized down to an 11, but even so, my feet are swimming in these shoes, and there really doesn't seem to have been any way to anticipate this. It's too bad there's no way to exchange them at this point.
