Love the over the foot strap. The original style, while great on ice, would often pull out when walking in deeper snow. The strap certainly helps. These make traversing icy sidewalks a snap.

These things work well on my snow boots and sloped driveway. I wouldn't go too far in them, but they are great for shoveling the sidewalk.

I keep these in my car here in Utah. We got stuck. I slapped these on and felt like I had ice spikes on. I pushed that car right out! Insane grip!

Rubber tubing frame inside the coiling snapped after one use. Very poor quality in my opinion, however it did the job for my walk.

I love these! I use them to run in the northeast winter weather. If you use them properly, only on snow and ice...not pavement, they can last for years. My last pair lasted for over 5 years! I don't have to worry about slipping while running and love that it gets me outside.

YakTrax make walking on ice and packed snow easy. Great for icy parking lots. They slip on easily. Who wants to fall? Not me, that's why I wear YakTrax. Also, can't beat Zappos service. I ordered these on a Thursday afternoon and had them Friday afternoon. Fabulous!

I have had the YakTrax Yaktrax Run for about two weeks now and am not happy with them. If you are walking on sidewalks and crossing city streets they probably work well. I have a farm so I am going through snow and walking in semi muddy places. This tends to fill in around the cleats in front. The back where the spirals are works well and stays fairly clean. But I have slipped with this pair on and it was where the cleats are. On closer examination the cleats were either broken off or wearing down so fast you could barely see where they were and you could not feel the cleats anymore. The strap on top helped keep these on better but I still lost the one on my right foot twice now. I am going to look into a different brand and style for barn/stable/farm use. They just did not hold up as expected or do the job I needed. I do not want to run this style down but if you work out doors and not in the city or town I do not recommend these.

I am a four season trail runner. These work great for the in between weather run. When there's not enough snow for snowshoe runners but to icy and slushy for my trail running shoes alone. Easy on and off which is important when it's cold out. I am giving them a 5 star for performance. Not sure about durability only used them 3 times. For cost getting a season or two out of them would be acceptable. I actually bought them through Zappos b/c of their great return policy.

These are truly amazing! My mom introduced me to them when I went to undergrad in upstate New York. I would not have made it through the icy winters without them. I continue to buy a new pair every year or two -- I have kneecaps that dislocate so ice gives me a fright, but they provide the traction and stability I need so I can walk across the icy ground with confidence.

I would never want to be without YakTrax. We don't get a lot of snow in North Carolina but when we do, it often falls as ice and going to the mailbox could land you in the hospital. I don't understand people who don't invest $20 to potentially save thousands, plus the pain and inconvenience. However, always go up a size. I have women's size 6.5 feet and in winter boots I can use the Medium YakTrax but prefer to use my husband's Large. If they are too big you just pull them further over the top of the shoe. The rubber is thicker too. I just bought Medium for a friend who has bigger feet than me (not wanting to insult her) but I am returning them and getting large instead.

Great devices for much safer walking on snow and ice! I walk a mile to work on Pittsburgh sidewalks in the winter, which are challenging: some treacherous sidewalks of slippery ice and snow doom, and others (often direct neighbors) completely shoveled and salted sidewalks free of any snow and ice. Without the devices, it's a really dangerous and scary walk. I have slipped and fallen, and I see quite a few other walkers just walk in the middle of the street because sidewalks are so slippery with snow. However, with these awesome YakTrax, I love walking on the snow and ice, and I feel secure without fear of falls. The only unfortunate thing is that those previously-wonderful stretches of sidewalk that nice neighbors shoveled well, end up being hard on the YakTrax since the metal gets stressed from stepping directly on the sidewalk. Last winter I went through 2 pairs (the metal eventually breaks, and so does the rubber), but it was so worth it, and I'm going to buy 2 more pairs for walk-commuting next winter. (Hey, way cheaper than buying gas, car, and insurance!)

Total disappointment. These were excellent for a week or two. But after less than one month, they have completely fallen apart. Not only has the wire pulled and uncoiled, but also the actual rubber straps have ripped. We have had a terrible winter, of course, but these are meant for ice and snow, and I expected them to last at least a couple of years - but not even one month? One of them got so bad it actually fell off in the park and I lost it! There are alternatives, such as Stabilicers. Choose something else over these, and get the ones with the strap over the arch, too. Skip these. Trust me.

These really do work well! I was surprised, but the reviews were good so I took the chance. When I wear these on my running shoes I actually seek out the slippery ice and snow for the satisfaction of having better grip. Their efficacy on new non-packed snow is basically neutral, but where they really do come in handy is on a snowy path regularly trodden by other runners, walkers, and cross country skiers.

Bought a pair for my husband. He walks for a living. They broke on the second day. I called and customer service was awesome. I was given another pair and the charge can off my credit card. Sorry to say the second pair broke in 1 day.

I'd only worn these a few times when the metal spring twisted it's way off the rubber. Then the metal spring broke. Then one of the rubber pieces pulled apart. I'm very disappointed in the quality/durability of these and will be asking for a refund. I've owned several pairs of YakTrax, and eventually this happens, but it's usually after a year, not a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if they changed suppliers for manufacture.

I wear a women's 9 and bought the Medium. Size is perfect on boots. Very comfortable to walk with in the snow and ice. These work best on hard packed snow or snow covered ice. Be very careful on exposed ice because it is just as slick, if not more so with the metal coils. I still need to watch the pavement and avoid sheets of ice.

Not suitable for hiking. YakTrax are Ok for very specific situations, but they are delicate. The YakTrax warranty page says "Yaktrax is not for use on gravel, concrete or sanded roads cleared of snow" and they mean it. I used these for daily walks on snow and ice covered improved trails. They lasted less than 20km before breaking. If you are using these for short trips over tame surfaces they will be fine. For any terrain more difficult than a parking lot I would strongly recommend Kahtoola Microspikes.

Yes, the Yaktrax are helpful in ice, & we get plenty in Central PA. Be sure you stretch them to get them on tightly enough. One of mine came off, but I retrieved it. I am a woman with a size 7 medium width foot.

I like these! The coils are beveled and grip well on steep trails and provide stability on icy sidewalks. I appreciate the strap. I had a pair of the walkers and one fell off while I was walking and is lost.
