Founder Fred Prysquel was fearless and full of imagination when it came to impressing a beautiful woman he saw in St-Tropez. Sitting on a the terrace of a cafe in the port, inspired by the holidaymakers strolling, he sketched a swimsuit drawing on the corner of the table. During this summer of 1971, armed with a pair of scissors and a faint idea of how to make clothes, he sets about creating a bathing suit that would set him apart from his competitors on the beach. On the French Riviera, short and skinny trunks were in fashion at that time. But Prysquel's were more special, not just because of the eye-catching patterns, but also because its cut was inspired by the board shorts American surfers wore at the time. The look was comfortable and cool, and the results were immediate. A trend was launched and the Vilebrequin brand was born. Prysquel launched a style where elegance meets flights of fancy, the 1970's St-Tropez and the sun-kissed lifestyle. Today Vilebrequin has been making incredible swimwear for more than 40 years. It is known as the #1 Men's swimwear and beachwear brand in the luxury market, and also designs ready-to-wear and accessories lines for the entire family.

Such a splurge! But I’m replacing a goertex suit from nearly 10 years ago. Not sure if I will get the same mileage, but extremely sexy, without spillage from my DD girls, and I can still swim laps without readjusting.

The fit was incredible, the stying of the cover up was awesome. I just couldn't get past the fish and the coral. I was hoping to find it in a different pattern but none was available.

I wear a size 28-30 depending on make. Small is a perfect fit. Pricey, yes. Comfortable, indeed. Stylish, I think so. They are not necessarily designed for the most modest of individuals but are perfect for getting some sun and splashing about. No pockets, but that is not a deal breaker for me.

Outstanding fit. Make sure you read the sizing. They run small so as a 40” waisted male I ordered a size XXXL. Very pleased with the quality and look.
