I did not care for the fur lined hood.

Love this jacket...except...it’s incredibly difficult to clean. I must’ve stooped down and sat on my heel and it left this stain that will not go away! I’ve tried everything (some methods left even more stains, some just water stains) and finally brought it to the dry cleaners. We’ll see if they can get the stains out.

Very warm, nice-looking and somewhat heavy. Very well made; normally a medium but based on reviews that recommended sizing up, I ordered a large in the black. For reference: I am 5’2”, 140lbs. , 36C, apple shape with longer torso, broader shoulders. I wear a PM in tops and usually jackets. Ordered this jacket in hopes of something to keep me warm in case of frigid temps for an upcoming trip to CO. I could definitely layer a heavy sweater underneath without any issues... The shoulders fit really well in the large but everywhere else the coat feels too big overall and a bit long for my height—sleeves a bit too long and adjusting the cuff snaps didn’t really help. Length does give great coverage of the bum when seated! As another reviewer mentioned, the zipper stops at the hip, which helps a lot when sitting and especially since it’s not a two way zipper. Sale price is good for a coat of this quality (I am comparing to other non-down North Face jackets I own), even tho it is fleece lined as opposed to down fill. The fur trim is actually very nice looking (doesn’t look matted or cheap) but not removable, nor is the hood. I am exchanging for a size Medium with fingers crossed it will fit me better/not be too tight in the shoulders/chest...

Such a great coat! I bought the XS in Black with white lining. For reference I’m 5’4 and 120lbs. The lining is really soft, and the faux fur on the hood is really fluffy. The faux is non detachable FYI, and this coat is dry clean only. Overall I’m so amazed with the quality of this coat. There’s a big snow storm in New York right now and I wore this to walk the dog and it was really warm. The zipper ends a bit higher, at the hip or so, which I was surprised by but actually makes sense because when I sit down in a car I sometimes get annoyed with a longer zipper. The arms are slightly shorter than I expected, hitting at the wrist rather than in the middle of my hand. And the XS was a snug fit. However I tried it on over 2 shirts and a sweater and it was just fine. I decided to keep the XS because it looks great, and I don’t mind the snugness. As long as I don’t wear a jacket underneath this it will be fine. The material on the outside feels great too, almost velvety (not slippery and swishy feeling, if that makes sense. There are four pockets that I’ve noticed so far, no inner pocket which I would have loved but most women’s jackets don’t have them...why is that? They’re so useful. Anyways, I love this jacket and I think it’s a great value for the price. There are lots of more expensive jackets that are not as nice as this one.

Too small. It would have been a great coat but it runs very small for the size listed.

I bought this jacket and the Alpha Industries Altitude Parka to compare them. I love both, but I'm keeping this one — it's significantly less bulky while still being quite warm; the sleeves are much less insulated but living in Northern California I don't need *too* much warmth. (If I lived somewhere much colder I would definitely keep the Alpha Industries parka instead — it's heavier and warmer and the sleeves are much more insulated; it feels like I could really survive Antarctica in it.)

I've always been nervous about buying jackets online but this was perfect. The adjustable strings are wonderful. The XL fit my broad shoulders. Love everything about it.

I LOVE this coat. There is a lovely warm "sherpa"/faux fur lining in the entire body of the coat and the hood which makes it very warm. The hood does not detatch, but I found it so warm with the lining that I never need to wear a hat when I'm wearing this. Length is nice as it covers the bum, lots of huge pockets. Highly recommend, this coat has been great, especially for below freezing winters.

I love this coat - moved to Oregon from coastal California and was completely unprepared for an actual winter. This coat is stylish, roomy enough to layer underneath but warm enough to not warrant it (only tested down to teens temps), and water resistant to boot! I spent xmas eve in Astoria and walked along the beach in the wind and rain for a good three hours - my sleeves were a tad damp at the zipper, but nothing horrendous. I wear this coat a ton and am so glad to have found it. Great buy.

I am very happy with this coat - I usually wear a 10/12 and ordered the XL since reviews said it ran small. I'm able to wear a fleece or sweater comfortably under it. Weather this winter has been very cold -25C at times and I've been warm and comfortable in it. Pockets are a bit wonky - I'd like an interior zipped pocket but I'm figuring it all out.

I love this coat! So warm and comfortable! Perfect for NE PA winters with 6+ feet of snow and negative wind chill. Felt true to size and could still layers with sweaters underneath.

Love this warm, stylish, comfortable jacket! Perfect for cold NE Pennsylvania winters with 6 feet of snow & -30 wind chill! I could comfortably wear a shirt a sweater under a Medium, which is my normal size. Jacket does feel heavy but it blocks out the wind and can feel anything under this coat!

This coat is almost as warm as a down-filled parka with the faux fleece lined body, and lined pockets; of which there are plenty. However, my arms are a little chilly, so wearing a warm sweater underneath is essential. I bought a medium as I thought this might be an issue, unlike a down parka, which doesn’t require heavy layering, depending on the warmth level. Overall, a durable and well-made winter coat in which I don’t feel like a fat snow person. Great (sale) price.

I really wanted to love this jacket. However, it is rather small even though I ordered up a size. In addition to being too small the coat is very thick and heavy, which may work for some people, I felt too encased. It is very well made and beautiful, I just wish that it was lighter in weight for where I live. I bought a L. I am 5'5" and 145# usually wear a M.

I'm 5'8" and 125 lbs - ordered the medium - sleeves were nice and long and it fit me perfectly but I'm a bit thin so ordering up a size might be a good idea. FYI: the hood is NOT detachable as stated in the description. The faux fur trim around the hood is detachable but the hood is not, so back it goes. Thanks for a great return policy and fast shipping, Zappos - you might want to correct that description. I would not have ordered if I knew that.

I ordered this coat in a medium specifically so that I could layer with comfort; and I’m happy I made that choice. There is plenty of breathing room. I’m 5’5”, 120#, so a small would have fit me well, but I like to have the option of extra warmth without feeling like I’m in a straight jacket. The length is good, too, hitting just below my buttocks, which is a necessity for me since I spend a lot of time outside in the winter. I’ve worn Northface coats, and I believe this one is just as well made, but perhaps less bulky. It can’t be said enough times: Zappos’ customer service continues to be superior!
