Church's

Church's Logo
The official birth of Church's shoes started in 1873 in a small factory run by Thomas Church, his wife and his two sons. In 1881 William introduced the revolutionary concept of right and left shoes in the "Adaptable" model, advertised to be available in a variety of widths, materials and unheard-of half sizes. In the 1890's the brand’s range of sporty and casual footwear expanded considerably, echoing the continuously evolving tastes of the clientele. The Roaring Twenties saw major upheaval in terms of lifestyle, culture and fashion. In 1921, Church's opened its first boutique in London and introduced the brand's first women's shoe, "Archmoulded", shaped to the foot's arch. In the brand's second royal encounter, HM Queen Elizabeth II visited Church's and bestowed the company with the prestigious Queen's Award to Industry for excelling in exports. This achievement further demonstrated Church's growing recognition as a distinguished name in the international footwear industry. In 1999, with the support of the family, Church's was acquired by the Prada Group, a paradigm of artisanal excellence in its own right and the ideal ally to help the shoemaker take its brand to the next level. Prada, whose luxury leather goods and shoes have enjoyed international renown for over a century, combined its inherent appreciation of heritage with a more marketing-oriented mentality to evolve Church's global strategy.

These boots are beautiful, stylish and classic. Unfortunately, Zappos was out of the 6.5 and the 7 was just too big. They are true to size and perfect for a slightly narrow foot. Although I only tried them in the house, they seem like they would be very comfortable for walking as they have a cushioned foot-bed.

Really liked these boots, they appear to be top notch in terms quality, and are a great looking boot to dress up or down. Unfortunately the boots were just too wide for me. I’m a 12 or 12.5 D in most shoes or boots, my foot floated around with medium thickness socks, couldn’t snug up the laces enough to make them feel comfortable. Shame because I really liked them, but felt the fit should be perfect especially at this price.

As far as I am concerned, hands down the best looking combat boot of the season. Very well made, fantastic style. With khakis they look dressy enough for a day at work, with jeans they look burly enough to not be mistaken for work shoes (I know, that's discordant, but these bridge that gap supremely well). The laces are crap, which you should be aware of when you buy them. Braided leather that frays after the first day. It doesn't matter. Replace with waxed cotton (45 inch) and you will be a happier fella. In fact, if you're smart you'll buy the replacement laces at the same time. This is my third pair of Church's, and I can attest to their quality otherwise. Really stylish shoes, well made, and a big cut above the rest.

Worth the splurge for the quality. Width is a little constraining for my feet. But hoping the leather will break in more.

This Beautifully crafted shoe fits true to foot size, they're comfortable and of course this type of shoe is somewhat stiff because of the tailoring of the leather and craftsmanship. This is my second pair of Burwoods by Church's I own the white & cherry and this style in the color smog with studs. I will continue to receive many compliments and I am happy to own these shoes. What I like about these shoes is you won't see yourself on other's feet coming and going. If you've gotten the Church's experience you will keep coming back. I look forward to different styles to come. Thanks ZAPPOS & 6PM. Khadijah

Complete class! Both the shoe and Zappos! These are made in England not Italy. There is a difference to the positive. The calf look is far smarter than the Bookbinder finish or shiny leather. They fit like a glove and I have a rather narrow foot. Just good English old sophistication and craftsmanship with the Calf leather and it Natural luster. Beautiful Cognac color!

This is a fantastic loafer. My second pair. Fit, materials and finish are what you would expect for the cost. The color of the cognac is brown with a honey undertone, rather than the more gold that most people would think of when they read "cognac". The pictures here on Zappos are a pretty good approximation. As usual with European sizes, an 11 in England is equivalent to a 12 here in the US. Given that the only Church's store on this side of the pond is in Chicago, its nice to have a selection available on Zappos.

Love these shoes... beautiful, just fabulous. Love looking down at my feet! They are substantial shoes and are are stiff, but thats just what they are... beautiful traditional leather loafer, with a punk edge to them. Best purchase this year.

I ordered a 1/2 size larger but these shoes were so stiff I could barely open them enough to put my foot inside. I don't see how these would ever soften up enough to be remotely comfortable. Back they go.
