The athletic brand in the outdoors.

For over 80 years adidas® has been a leader in the world of sports delivering state-of-the-art athletic footwear. Their main goal is to design shoes that work with the foot, not against it, to help you reach your highest level of performance and comfort.

In 1978, adidas designed a light trekking shoe for Reinhold Messner’s expedition to Mount Everest. Since then, they’ve endeavored to provide outdoor athletes with products that enable them to take the next step to adventure.

In addition to the adidas-developed technologies for adults such as adiPRENE®, TRAXION, and CLIMAPROOF®, adidas outdoor footwear for kid’s features adiFIT to aid in the sizing of your little ones and our Little Performers program:

Off to a great start

As a parent, your child’s health comes second to none. It is for us, too. At adidas, we are committed to the lifelong care of your little ones’ feet – from crawling, walking, jumping and running to fulfilling their biggest dreams.

The first step to healthy feet

We count on our feet to carry us throughout our lives. So proper development is essential. While going barefoot is best, it’s rarely possible in today’s environment. And finding the correct shoes for your child’s various development stages can be a difficult task. Did you know that 70 % of foot problems come from wearing the wrong shoes? And the majority is already caused during childhood? So it is important to make your child’s first steps healthy ones. That’s why our footwear specialists have teamed-up with medical experts to understand the best ways to support a healthy foot development.

Doctor Recommended

Prof. Dr. Markus Walther is the Medical Director of the Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Schön Klinik, München Harlaching and Vice Chairman of the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, Munich. With his help, adidas continues to perfect ways to ensure healthy foot development for happy, active lives to come.

Did you know?

Experts say a child should take at least 10.000 steps a day. By the age of 5, this can add up to a walk from Berlin to Beijing!

adidas Outdoor helps your children reach your maximum athletic potential in all your hiking, trekking and outdoor quests.

My son likes these shoes. Sizing is accurate. My ten year old has been wearing them for the last 4-5 months and they are holding up well.

I ordered this because my son needs the velcro closure. When it arrived it was a lace-up tie shoe string. It's being returned.

These have very tough soles so the shoes take a couple weeks to really break in. My son has been wearing them for 7 months and they've held up awesomely well. The black works perfect for his school too - even for church and recess on the same day. Pretty indestructible outside of the toes showing wear. He's growing out of his size so I'm getting another pair.

These are for my 12 yo son, he likes them. They are not insulated, so would be perfect indoors for school in winter time.

I would suggest you go up half a size. They fitted but the growth room was very small compared with my sons other size 2 tennis shoes.

My 8-year-old son is hard on shoes. I have four kids, and none of them beat up shoes like this child. I stopped buying him shoes with any mesh-type of feature 2 years ago. They were torn out within a week or two of wearing. With some hesitation, I bought him a pair of Adidas "crossover" type shoe-boot-hiker last spring, similar to the Adidas Kids Terrex this review is about. Hesitation, because it seemed like they might be too warm to be used in the summer. They were quickly both our favorite shoe style for him because of the durability (me) and style (him). He loved how tough and grippy they were. I loved that he outgrew them before they had totally crumbled to pieces. He wore them all summer long. When it came time to replace the previous model, the Terrex was this year's model. A bummer at the higher price-point, but we love the toughness, style, and fit. I would not normally spend $85 on shoes for an 8-year-old, but these hold up enough to make it a worthwhile investment for this kiddo. Fit: My son has a quite-wide foot, but he finds these very comfortable. We swap out elastic-tighteners for the laces so he can hop in and out faster without having to bother tying them. Makes these hikers a perfect shoe for a rough and tumble kid.

These feel like a very sturdy sneaker that should hold up well for an active 4 year old. Get compliments on them regularly too. Because these are a little sturdier they are a little more difficult to put on but worth the trade off.

My son is 11 and had these sneakers before. This is our 3rd pair. He needed a sneaker with good arch support b/c his feet were bothering him and these did the trick! They are a very solid sneaker and nice looking. I would highly recommend them! I think Adidas in general have a wider width than most other brands which is what I like about them. They are also not too heavy!

This shoe runs large compared to the Merrill shoes. My two kids wear a Merrill 4.5 W and 4.5 M ; the 4.5 in these Adidas allowed me to easily inset two finger in the heel area... shoes will slip off when running or climbing. Otherwise the shoes looked okay.

My 6 year old loves these shoes! They are comfy and have an excellent tread, which is something we need living somewhere with changing seasons (and often slippery ground). This is our second purchase of this style Adidas and I am pretty sure we will buy them again when we need to bump us a size.

They look great and lasted quite a while. The only thing is that shoe laces are kind of weak and are starting to fall apart, but otherwise they are lasting well on my kids feet through all the mud and stuff.

My 7yo says "these are my favorite pair of shoes ever". He's very hard on his sneakers, and these have held up better than usual. It's possible he'll even outgrow them before they break/get holes.
