We bought this carry-on to replace my husband's Hartmann and just took it for a 2.5 week vacation to China. It weathered well through rain and muddy streets. One of the zipper pulls came off but apparently that is a design feature. When there is pressure on the zipper, the pull comes off vs the zipper being destroyed. If you register the bag on Tumi website, there is some kind of tracking system in case you lose it. Didn't need to put it to the test, thankfully. It's a very nice looking bag I'm thinking about getting the same one for myself, to replace my Victorinox.

Tumi used to be a great brand, but don't waste your money now. Got this model for Christmas 2010. It won't fit in the overhead bin on most domestic flights and the retractable handle on mine broke in the first 60 days. Tumi wants me to pay the $30 in shipping to send back a new bag tom get it repaired. I had much better luck with my Travel Pro. It lasted for 4 years with no issues.

This bag made me not hate traveling. It's small enough to fit even the most stringent carry-on requirements (unless you're on a propeller plane), and the beige lining ("espresso" color) makes it easy to find all of your belongings. The bag is lightweight and very durable. It rolls exceptionally well, and I've found that the handle works very well over the past year and half. It also pairs well with other Tumi bags that have back straps--you can slip them right over the handle to roll smoothly through the airport. I've also found that the zippers work well, even when I overpack (e.g. 2 weeks during the winter in this bag alone). My only complaint is that it will tip over if something heavy, like a laptop, is placed in the outer pocket without being counterbalanced by something in the main compartment, but I think that's just a function of the wheels' being pushed back to maximize the interior space and the bag's components not being very heavy. If one packs thoughtfully, it's not a problem.

This is the closest to my favorite carry-on ever, the TravelPro Crew4, which is no longer made. It's almost exactly the same size. Not sure why anyone would say it won't fit in an overhead...try the overhead on the left as you face the back of the plane...many planes have the long overhead on one side and a shorter one on the right. Not sure why. I have Tumi's T-Pass computer bag. I use it every day and overstuff it on occasion. Not too big. Not too small. Just right and absolutely bulletproof. I'm less enthusiastic about their rollaways, however...some of them seem too gadgety and fussy, but I'm sniffing around. The wheels on my Crew4 finally gave out. I've ordered new ones, but realize it'd be nice to have a new bag. One that matches my computer bag would be perfect.
