Timberland Mt. Washington City Chelsea Update Reviews

Great update to the Torrance - I needed to replace my three year-old Timberland Torrance Chelsea boots, and was distraught when I saw they were being discontinued. Ordered the Mt. Washington because it was supposed to be the "update." Differences from the Chelsea: the arch support is a lot more prominent, the opening to insert your foot is larger (not as tight on the ankle), and the front loop to aid with putting on the boot is larger and fixed on the front. Except for the front loop change, the Mt. Washington is a welcome comfortable and solid update. Matches with casual, business, and formal attire.

Nice boot, but try 1/2 to a full size smaller. And the wide is really wide and I have paddles for feet. Typically a 4E in other shoes. I've never put on shoes that made my flippers feel narrow. If you have wide feet, this boot is for you.

Great that it comes in two widths. A little snug around the top of the ankle but foot bed is very comfortable right out of the box. A stiffer boot than my blundstones.

This is my first pair of Timberland boots, though I\'m a long time Timberland shoe aficionado. Like most other Timberland reviews their shoes do run a bit big, I\'d say a 1/2 size bigger, I\'m a size 9 and the 8 1/2 size was perfect. On the width of the shoes, I don\'t have the widest foot around, neither the narrowest, but I had to end up returning the regular for the EE/Wide size. The regular was way to snug for my comfort. The only thing that bugs me a bit is how the top of the boot around the ankles feels a little tight, but other than that, it\'s a great boot that I can walk around all day in, the sole in these shoes is seriously one of the most comfortable I\'ve worn, in any shoe. Overall a good buy, just remember to buy a 1/2 size smaller than you usually wear. And of course, I had a great experience buying from Zappos, they got me the shoes in no time and they were super helpful when I had to return the first pair of boots that didn\'t quite fit. Keep up the good work Zappos.

I've had this boot for a few weeks now. They are comfortable, and my feet stay dry in the wet, muddy conditions of the Pacific Northwest. At first, I felt a crease on my ankle where the front loop is attached. It took a couple days to break in. The traction could be a little better, but they are still great boots.

These are comfortable boots. They run a half size smaller than normal sizes though. After only one day I noticed that the wrapping on the heel was coming off already. I'm shipping them back now. I will update when the new ones arrive.

These boots are fabulous! I bought them for my husband in the lighter (tan) shade and he loves them. He wears a size 13 wide and is big on comfort. He says these boots are actually comfy and they look just as they do in the picture! Great purchase!

These shoes are very comfortable right out of the box, a rare quality in most boots. They require no "break-in" time. Even though they are comfortable, the soles feel relatively flat and do not offer much support. So, don't plan on standing up on hard or cement surfaces all day in these shoes. The leather is very rich and smooth in texture/color, perfect for wearing with slacks or jeans. I'm a man with big feet, so I'm always looking for a shoe that doesn't make my feet look too long. These shoes do a good job at minimizing how big your feet look.

Beware these new Chelsea boots. The new soles on these are flimsy and extraordinarily low quality. I have bought both a pair of these boots and the sandals (which have very similar soles). The two long stripes that run down the sole laterally tore open almost immediately. When you press the bottom of the sole, you can easily feel an air pocket. The sole isn't even glued down! Two nights ago, I had to walk out in the new fallen snow. My right Chelsea boot (which I had managed to glue back together with Gorilla Glue ripped open, and the pocket under the sole filled with snow. It was a long walk (30 minutes) and when I got home, I was able to pull enough snow out from the new pocket to make a golf ball sized snow ball. It's a shame, because I have worn the old Chelsea boots for several years, and they were absolutely the cat's meow. These new redesigns are absolutely horrible. What happened to the quality?

Brands I'd also recommend: I\'m going to try some blundstones, which are what these shoes emulate.

I do love these boots! I love the way these boots look and feel! They definitely run large by 1/2 size (order 1/2 size smaller than your normal size). I wore these boots every day on a week long trip to Paris. I walked miles in the rain and snow and they still look as good or better than when I got them. I highly recommend them!

Out of stock early 2010. Zappos notified me when it returned to stock (by e-mail) several months later. I'm glad I waited. Someone here complained they're boot fell apart almost immediately along the center seam on the bottom. There is no center seam running down the bottom on this new boot. I ordered an 11-wide, the length felt true and the extra wideness was just as I needed; a regular width would have been too narrow for my feet. I slipped the boot on and it was incredibly comfortable! No extra shoe insert needed for extra foot cushioning; there are slightly raised 'cushiony-pads' inside the boot. I did not have to break them in, right out of the box they're wearable to work - and I stand for 8 hours a day! Opening is easy to get foot into as the boot slips on. I bought the burnished black and love this boot!

First off I want to say Zappos is great ordered these boot next day they were here, Very fast shipping I would never buy this model boot again. I have only had them 1 week and the back pull tab broke at the stiching. I would have sent them back but no longer have the box. I donated them to Amvets.

Got these for the wet, wet conditions of the Washington Coast. They are a perfect fit. Stylish but still kinda rugged, and totally waterproof. The color on the front got damaged somewhat easily though, but that is to be expected, I guess. I don't know what smell people were complaining about; I didn't notice anything in particular. Overall, I recommend these puppies. Will probably be getting a new pair once these are destroyed. Thanks Timbo!

Excellent Boot for rain, snow & style. This is my second pair of Mt. Washington Chelsea boots and I hope that Timberland does not discontinue them. The update is great, as the heel is all rubber now instead of glued strips of leather that tended to fall off. The boots are a bit heavy at 21 oz and a bit tight at the outset due to the raised footbed, but that soon gives way to long term comfort. They look great with chinos or jeans, and can go to work on the farm without fail. They're very comfortable and waterproof -- I walked everywhere for three weeks in them and never had a sore day. Well worth the investment.

The rubber on both soles separated from the shoe, creating a bubble under the shoe. Eventually it ripped, making the boot useless. This happen in less than 5 months. Also the strap broke on one boots. The styling and comfort were fine, but the craftsmanship obviously leaves something to be desired.
