Thorogood 6" Moc Toe

Picked up a pair of these boots in brown and was impressed with the quality - can't beat Made in U.S.A. I wear a size 9.5 in Vans, Jack Purcells, Nikes, J&M, Asics and 10 in Adidas & The North Face shoes. These boots tend to run large - about a half size larger so I got these in size 9 with no issues. There's plenty of toe room but was stiff around the mid foot area. The leather is full grain so will require a break in period. Cushioning was pretty good for a boot but in no way close to a sneaker. Color was close to chocolate and the leather had a oil rubbed appearance. The insole was pretty good as well with decent support - polyurethane so no need to replace unless you need orthotics or prefer a different type of insole. The only gripe I have is that the speed hooks should go all the way to the top of the boot. There were 3 speed hooks towards the top & the last was a standard eyelet. The boot is unlined towards the top so if you wear white / light colored socks you might get some color transfer from the leather. Last but not least, I'll most likely end up cutting off the Made in U.S.A. tags since they seemed out of place. I'm all for US made products but the tags are in an awkward spot. Overall a good boot but will require some break in.

I really liked the style and the "made in USA." These felt comfortable in the house so I decided to keep them. The first time I wore them outside the uppers at the first eyelet area creased downwards and caused unbearable pain in the top of my big toe joint. Unfortunately, I could no longer return them so I am stuck with an expensive pair of boots in the closet.
