Wish I'd have listened to the prior reviewers. The boots are beautiful, but tight and bulky/bunchy at the ankle area -- enough so that it's doubtful that that breaking in the boot will correct the fit. Must return.

These boots are cute and they seem well made and very functional, so I really wanted them to fit. But they were too big for me in the calves generally (my calves, 14inch) and particularly around the ankles, where the stiff leather got kinda baggy with all the extra space and caused some uncomfortable rubbing. But for a slightly different pair of legs these seem like they'd be great boots!

I waited to wear these before posting a review. I've been wearing them about a month now. I have narrow feet and ordered my regular size, and they fit perfectly with a pair of medium weight woolen socks. I have one pair of high woolen thin dress socks that never fall down normally that worked their way down very quickly when I was walking in these boots. Super comfortable to walk in with the right socks. Fit my skinny calves perfectly. Any tighter and I would need a boot jack to pull them off. I've received a lot of compliments on them. We've had some very slippery weather here in Northern Maine lately - these boots handled the walking conditions well.

Living in the Adirondacks, I need a boot with a nice tread on the bottom for snow/ice. Finding a boot this cute, waterproof and with a great tread is kind of rare. Thanks North Face!
I'd also recommend: ECCO

It does look a bit like a rain boot but I wanted something waterproof, insulated, and with decent traction. The fit is nice, I can wear my warm socks easily. I wasn't sure about the short zipper but it seems to be working out fine. I am really happy with these boots and feel I got a good deal on them.
