About Sperry

Paul Sperry, founder of Sperry, was an inventor, a sailor, and an intrepid explorer with a passion for adventure.  In 1935 he was faced with a real-life problem: how to maintain traction on a slippery boat deck. No solution existed at that time.

After numerous attempts to invent a nonslip boat shoe, Paul found his inspiration from his best friend—his dog, Prince. Noticing how he didn’t slip on ice, he turned Prince’s paw over to find hundreds of small cracks and lines going in all directions. These became the inspiration behind his inventive nonslip razor cut Wave-Siping™ outsole and the world’s first performance boat shoe.  In that moment of inspiration, he not only created an icon, he launched a brand: the perfect union of an inventive idea, a man, his passion, and the allure of the sea.

Sperry's boat shoes became internationally known for their comfort and long-lasting wear. Styles like the men’s Authentic Original and Billfish, and the women’s Angelfish boat shoe are all water resistant and durable with a tru-moc construction, a comfortable 360° lacing system and, of course, the razor cut Wave-Siping™ non- slip technology. Whether you are sailing, working on the dock, or just enjoying a beach vacation, these boat shoes are sure to look and feel good.

Sperry’s standout Gold Cup Collection features premium Italian leather, 18k gold-plated eyelets, and soft lambskin lining. This luxurious combination makes these boat shoes ideal for everything from relaxed walks around town to a refined evening out with family and friends.

With a loyal consumer base, Sperry has moved beyond boat shoes, creating nautically inspired footwear like waterproof rain boots and leather booties that are ideal for both the city and sailing. Sperry’s  duck-inspired rubber shell boots , sandals, espadrilles, sneakers, oxfords,  and slippers all share not only the timeless style and comfort that Sperry is known for, but also the same non-slip technology that will always keep you safe on slippery surfaces.

What are shoes without socks? Sperry has answered that question by creating incredibly comfortable socks featuring fabric blends and eye-catching patterns that are sure to match your nautical tastes. Sperry makes sure they have a sock to suit your needs with styles ranging from boot socks to crew lengths to the no-see-um skimmers that fit perfectly with your boat shoes.

Sperry has also evolved into clothing and now creates seasonal favorites like swimsuits, bikinis, boardshorts, and swim cover-ups to meet every water lovers’ needs!

Sperry started as the original boat shoe manufacturer and has grown into one of the greatest, most authentic lifestyle brands; a rare brand that spans fashion and function without compromise.

I'm not sure what the other reviews meant by ordering a size up. Don't do it, they are absolutely fine if you order your normal size. i have feet with several problems and the insole should be perfect for problem feet. Stay with your normal size and you will be fine. I am returning this pair and will another pair.

These shoes rock my world. I am obsessed with having them on my foot. They feel like ballet slippers but with cushion. I feel grounded and flexible, but protected. I don't need arch support if I'm going for the barefoot feel. And they don't budge on my foot, either, so no rubbing at the heel. I just hope that the fabric stays looking as shiny and nice as it does now.

The best shoes ever! Good fit. Old school style for my 13 y/o son. Now his friends want a pair:-)

These shoes are all day comfortable and really well built. They are great for work, play and week-end errands. If you are a Sperry's fan, these may just be your new favorites. My originals are blue and about a month old. I am back to order another pair in brown.

Great boat shoe I purchased the wide width and found them comfortable even enough room to add a pair of superfeet green arch supports.

I absolutely loved my orange Top siders, EXCEPT for the fact that they squeak when I walk. It's almost as if there was an air leak in the sole. I thought this was going to eventually go away, but it is getting worse and worse... am i the only one experiencing this issue?

I've had too many pairs of Top-Siders to count, and these are the first that felt much too tight for comfort. I love the fun styling on the JAWS model, but I wish I'd sent them back for a larger size before wearing them once and getting very sore, red feet.

This is a very comfortable shoe with a soft walk. I am very happy with it. One caveat: if you are thinking of buying for bicycling, be sure to adjust the foot straps on the bike, because the top profile is a little higher than my old bike shoes!

I love this shoe! Very stylish and pretty. I initially didn't look at these because I wear a wide shoe, but after reading the reviews that said they ran wide, I took a chance. The 9M fit very well, no pinching the bunions. Unfortunately, the back of the ankle strap dug into my heel and didn't feel like it would soften up enough. I'm so sorry to have to return them.

Great service! No disappointments in the shoe.
