Simple® living is a thing of the past. Bigger, better, and faster have taken the wheel and spun us out of control! The human population has been melting glaciers, banishing bee colonies and devolving the human race into a rat race that uses a devolving mantra of GIMME GIMME GIMME.
When is enough really enough? When can we tweak the definition of wealth and accumulate some positive karma? Can't we just trade down for once? What's the solution to this mess?

With all the over-built, over-hyped products out there, it's pretty hard to find sustainable shoes that you can live with. So they started Simple, your stereotypical, anti-stereotype brand offering good shoes and a big dose of reality.
About a gazillion pairs later... give or take a few... they've managed to learn a few things. Well, actually a lot of things. And none more important than this: HOW they make their shoes is just as important as WHY they make them. That means finding more sustainable ways of doing business so they can make a gazillion more!

Sometimes, the progress is notable while at other times the improvements are harder to come by. The important thing is Simple is committed to making 100% sustainable products. Finding materials and processes that make products sustainable is a method they call Green Toe. It isn't a magic formula, or a cure. It's a compass that points to a bright green future.
Progress in Green Toe is measured with a scale called "good, better, best." The best category represents Simple's most sustainable shoes and bags and sets the bar for the rest of the line. Moving forward, these same innovative materials and constructions will be found in the good and better categories, raising the bar for the best products. Pretty nifty, huh?

These shoes are very comfortable and useful for casual wear. On sale they were a great deal.
I bought a pair of these for my sister. In her words they are very comfortable and look nice. She is very happy with them so I guess I have to give them five in every category. I have to say, I like the design myself, and the black goes well with many different outfits. She has worn them for several weeks now and still loves them, so it is fair to say that the initial trial period is over.
This is my second pair of this shoe. I have the other style that doesn't have the laces. They're a great casual shoe and extremely comfortable!
This is a very special shoe. It's super comfortable, durable and has a classic look. It's all I want to wear anymore. It does run a little large and since I'm between sizes I went with the smaller. It stretched to fit perfectly despite my very wide feet.
I absolutely love these! They are so comfortable and cute! I normally wear an 8, sometimes an 8½ and the 8 was definitely too short for me.
Yet another fine pair of Simple footwear. No bells and whistles, just comfortable sneakers that look nice.
I was excited to receive these and put them on to run errands the day they arrived. They are cute and comfy, but at the end of the day they were already looking dirty. The surface of the material is a bit rough and not at all resistant to smudges and dirt -- that part was a big disappointment. I tried to clean them up a bit and then sprayed the fabric with Scotch Guard -- hopefully that will help some. I wanted something cute and casual, but smudged up and dirty does not complete the look. My overall rating of 1 Star is for the Hemp fabric. I won't buy shoes made from Hemp again.
Comfortable and very stylish. Not a lot of arch support but I like that. From reading other reviews I decided to order half size up and glad I did because it doesnt rub the top of my foot but I can see how it will. I wear 6.5 but ordered 7.
I've been a hardcore Simple fan for years... Rocked them all. I m heavily disappointed in the quality. I am used to the unbeatable design and manufacturing quality that Simple has brought to the table for a long time. The shoe s sole delaminated (in the rain) after only a month and a half creating a very bad time for my piggy s and a very wet foot. I am still a devoted fan, just not of this model at all. Back to the old schools I guess. My puppy will enjoy killing these.
Super super comfortable -- very soft floor bed. Just more of a comfy-boot look, kind of like Uggs, and not quite chic enough.
I purchased these boots for my 34 year old daughter and she absolutely loves them.
These are my favorite shoes! Simple stopped making them and Zappos is the only place that has them. And free shipping!

This is really sad for me because I want to love these shoes. I love that they're made with recycled tires and hemp. But they hurt my feet. Right across the uh, knuckles? of my toes? If you look at your toes, and count back three bones, that's where it hurts, every step. The thick and stiff fabric right at where the eyelets are closest to the toes compresses down onto my foot bones, and after a day of walking around, it feels like I'm bruised. I want to love these shoes, but I can't. All those years of looking at the ads in Wired magazine, and I finally bought a pair... sigh.
These shoes are awesome! I can only get my son to wear Crocs, but he wears these with no complaints. These are the only lace up shoes he well wear, they are extremely comfortable.
It's a fine shoe but not as comfortable as the previous version I had which had a corduroy upper. I wear these as house slippers so I have no idea how they hold up as real out-in-the-world shoes. My last pair fell apart after a year of being worn as slippers so I doubt they would be great outdoors, but they were super comfortable. These are too. Just not quite as sublimely so.
I absolutely love these boots! They are so comfy and have great support for the arch. I get compliments on them all the time!
As if Michigan winters weren't enough to make a girl ready for spring - now I've got these babies causing me to count down the days until mild temperatures and sunny days! They arrived today, and it was love at first sight. The style is classic, made from great materials and seem like they will hold up well while I frolic around town. True to size, extremely comfortable and so very adorable! They're wonderful!
Runs a little small. I wear 9 or 9 1/2. Would have to get a 10 (out of stock) to wear these.
Very cute! Superbly comfortable! All of my friends try them on and then talk about how they're going to steal them. One step and you'll be hooked.
