These Shimano shoes are very comfortable, great looking and very strong. They made my ride a whole lot faster than riding with regular shoes. I recommend them to any bike rider. A definite must have for this awesome sport!

Great shoe for the price. Light, rigid sole, good closures (velcro+ratchet). Unlike other reviews though I found the shoe to be a full size larger than marked, and had to go down from my usual 43 to a 42.

Very comfortable. Much more so than my prior pair (Nike's). I have hundreds of miles on them at this point. No problems whatsoever.

Add This Brand to My Favorites
In 1961, a three-speed bicycle hub displayed at the New York Toy Show became the catalyst for what would eventually become Shimano American Corporation. The popularity of 20-inch wheeled bikes with hi-rise handle bars fueled a demand for multi-speed hubs and Shimano® began producing an affordable and reliable version that caught the attention of the cycling world. By 1965, Yoshizo Shimano, the youngest son of the company founder in Japan, opened an office in New York to get product feedback and to provide technical and warranty assistance to retailers selling bikes equipped with Shimano® parts.

Though Shimano America has grown from its modest office staffed by only three people to a full distribution center with sales and marketing offices, the goals are the same: to ensure that Shimano® always has a listening ear to provide feedback on relevant trends and needs and make it a reality for their customers.

Shimano® invented SPD recessed cleat and pedal technology, which revolutionized the industry. The unique systems-engineered shoe/pedal combinations - only from Shimano® - enhanced power-transfer even more. A few years later the efficiencies were applied to the road systems with the development of SPD-SL technology. Less wasted movement, even distribution of power across the pedal and increased comfort. Simply more power from you to the bike.

Shimano's participation extends much further than its products. Through advocacy programs, ISO 14001 certification and even commuter/car pool programs for their employees, Shimano® is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.

Great shoe. I usually wear an extra wide (4E), but by getting the wide version of this shoe in a bit larger size than normal, it fits just fine.

These shoes seem to be very well made. The ratchet is a good feature, and that makes the shoes a good value in this price range. Overall these shoes are comfortable for me, but I feel that the opening for my ankle is not quite big enough. It feels like the area around the "tongue" of the shoe digs in a little, but it's not a deal breaker. All the fitting charts said I should wear a particular size, but when I got that size, it was too small. Zappos made it easy to exchange the original shoes for one size larger, and they fit much better. Since everyone's feet are different, I highly recommend Zappos because of their easy return/exchange policy.

I ordered these Shimano shoes from Zappos because my local bike shop does not carry the wide width in this model. It's a great shoe, and one of the few bike shoes in this price range that is available in a wide width. The fit and comfort is great, at least for me. Make sure you try a range of sizes before you buy and the perfect fit is a subtle thing. A vent under the toes lets cool air into the shoe. Very nice here in Texas! The tongue of the shoe does come up a bit high, but I haven't had any problems with chafing, even on long rides.

These are great road cycling shoes I would recommend but I am a size (14 us) so I went with the size 50 which is what Zappos recommended. But they are a little too big; I think the 49 would have been a better fit. But I still think these are great shoes and a great value.

Finding riding shoes for me has been tough. I run quite a bit too and wear a Brooks Addiction in size 10, E width. My Shimano's are a size 43 and fit perfectly. Go figure! I think the top buckle is a must, much easier to adjust on the go accurately vs a three velcro attaching system. These are great shoes for the money, just wish they came in all black!

Brands I'd also recommend: none, personally :)

My husband and I each got these shoes to use for spin class and with our road bikes. They are great shoes! The Velcro and ratcheting straps help snug them up on my narrower feet, and his wide shoes fit very well. For reference - I wear a women's size 12 and the 45 medium fits perfectly. My husband wears size 15, and he tried both the 50 medium and 51 wide. He kept the 51s as his toes hit the top of the 50s, which would be uncomfortable when standing while pedaling. It was easy to install the cleats, and these shoes are really helping with our bike training.
