I first ordered the Rimowa Salsa Deluxe in March 2013 after a long debate over Rimowa vs. Tumi. In the end, Rimowa won for its overall style, light weight and boasted patented multiwheel system. The bag arrived and I absolutely loved it. However, a month later as I was walking through the airport, one of the wheels popped off! The timing was terrible and, really, for the price of the bag I expected much more. I contacted Zappos and the customer service rep I spoke with could not have been more wonderful. She processed an exchange at no inconvenience to me. In fact, when I returned home from my trip, my replacement bag was already waiting for me. Fast forward to April 2014, after almost a year of having no issue with my Rimowa, I returned to my hotel room and realized I was locked out of my bag! The built-in TSA lock had somehow reset itself and my combination would not work. I went to the airport and asked a TSA rep to open my bag with their key. Even that wouldn't work and they ended up having to break the lock, which made me think the mechanism inside the lock had faltered. Once again, I called Zappos and, once again, they turned what could have easily been a huge headache into a painless return process. I still prefer Rimowa's overall style but, after 2 strikes, I'm switching to Tumi. The silver lining in all of this is definitely Zappos and their unwaivering commitment to a superior customer experience. I may never buy a Rimowa again but I will continue to be a loyal Zappos customer!

Love this suitcase! The dividers hold everything in place perfectly, it is very lightweight, and has great capacity for a carry-on. Super easy to navigate. Highly recommended!

Previously, I've used the soft and hard Samsonite luggages and I have to admit that this far exceeds my expectations and any luggage I have ever owned. I was able to pack the whole family of 4 into this trunk for a 9 day vacation. Organization was a breeze since the trunk is deeper and provides more stacking ability. Because it is taller vs wider, it did not stick out like a sore thumb when we set it aside in the hotel. Pushing was effortless and even my little one sat on top while we wheeled from the car to the room. Overall, this is one of my favorite purchases from Zappos that will have alot of mileage and use for the whole family.

The bag is awesome, but dealing with Zappos was beyond uber mega awesome. My first bag arrived without the dividers and inserts that are supposed to be included. I called Zappos, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I had a new bag (overnight!) and that everything was perfect. The Rimowa is a good replacement for my late lamented Titan, murdered by Delta. And Zappos gained a customer for life.

Admittedly, I have only used this luggage on one trip so far but I have more travel coming. It has exceeded my expectations and I have very high expectations. It appears small, much smaller than my prior piece of carry on but I wanted a carry on that I did not have to worry about fitting in the overhead bins. This thing fits in just about any bin you encounter. No need to put it in side ways. The amazing thing is how much you can pack into it. I had no trouble packing a weeks stay in. Part of the secret is the way the flat divider board can be cinched down hard and velcroed holding the items very flat in the suitcase and minimizing storage space. This is the best packing system I have used and I have owned a ton of suitcases including hartman, Tumi and many others. I used to average over 150K miles per year but now it is down to about 60K miles. The wheels on this thing roll very easily and it is a one finger push on hard floors and not too much more effort on carpet. The outer pockets are fantastic for carrying and accessing a lot of different items from keys to laptops to iPads. Papers and boarding passes or passports go easily too. It is an expensive bag and I hesitated on ordering it for that reason. After purchasing and looking at the quality of construction and materials it is easy to tell why. After using it I am even more convinced. I will update this review after I have more miles on it. Bottom line for me is that this is the best I have found and I am a luggage nut due to my travels.

Excellent suitcase. Has an unusual format but is great for odd things that normally is very hard to fit in normal cases...I will purchase the second one soon!

Zappos Exclusive - I absolutely love my new Rimowa Salsa Air suitcases!!! 1. Sizing: I ordered the carry on and the 26". For me both sizes are perfect. The carry on holds so much more that I would have thought for a 22" and covers me for weekend travel, and the 26" is perfect for checked in luggage for those longer trips. 2. Inside: The cases open like a book with two zips for each side, and are both fully meshed with a strong fabric. I love the fact that I can zip up both sides, stopping anything from dropping out when the case is opened (most cases have straps on one side, and mesh/zips on the other). These cases do not have any inside pockets, which I prefer as I really did not use them effectively in any of the previous cases that I have owned. There are not any inside straps either, which I also prefer as I use packing cubes. The 3" high cubes fit perfectly for the carry on, just choose the length and width to suit yourself. Keeping in mind that packing cubes are not necessary for the Rimowa Salsa Air due to the fully zipped meshed interior, I just prefer them for organisation. 3. Colour: I eventually chose the Acid Green (lime) colour, and I say eventually as it took me weeks to make up my mind up between all of the other colour options; ultra violet, ice blue, white, navy, pearl pink, and gold. On receiving my cases, I could not be happier as the green is even richer in real life, it is simply GORGEOUS :> Zappos: You know how I have just mentioned my procrastinating over which colour to choose? Part of the reason is that the Acid Green is a Zappos exclusive, and not available to any retailer in Australia. Once I had made my mind up though I signed up with a shipping agent who ships outside of the USA and ordered my cases from Zappos. Once they reached Australia there was a slight hold up with Customs over documentation (justified). Zappos responded immediately and Brian L. from The Zappos.com Order Verification section forwarded an email to clear my cases. I could not be happier. Thank you Brian :> Another thank you to Zappos: Some companies ship the Rimowa cases in their own company boxes. Zappos ship Rimowa cases in their original Rimowa boxes. This is important in that the cases will scratch if not securely packed, and only the original boxes can protect them properly as they are made to fit perfectly. And a tip for anyone buying Rimowa, why not buy a protective plastic cover for your new case. Yes, they are prone to scratches (look at the battering they sometimes get being loaded and unloaded onto aircraft), so why not protect them? I have thick clear plastic covers for both my carry on and 26", and clear of course to show off my new psychedelic 60's lime colour from Zappos.com :>

Best bag I've ever owned. The color looks a bit crazy on the web site, but it's actually a really nice green. Looks better in person than in the pics. And it definitely stands out among other bags. You'll never have trouble finding it in a crowd. The construction of this thing is top-notch, and it's about as light as I can imagine a bag of this size can be. And the wheels are super-smooth.

This is an excellent piece of luggage. I purchased it to replace a large Tumi, which was just too heavy and cumbersome. Time and time again, I was bothered at check in when the bag consistently weighed over 50 pounds. So, I bought the Rimowa. At first, I hated the bag because a) when staying in a hotel room, the bag must be opened completely and will not work on a hotel room luggage stand (those work if the top part is more like a flap, but the Rimowa must be opened 180 degrees); b) after the first trip, there were a number of scratches on it. However, after using the Rimowa on numerous subsequent trips, I love it. Here's why: 1. Weight. Gone are the days of exceeding baggage weight limits and having to pull things out of the bag at the check-in counter. 2. Ease of use. This bag rolls effortlessly and produces little, if any, stress on muscles and joints. Super smooth, which is great if you're navigating a long distance. 3. Packing system. Each side of the bag has a panel which holds clothes in place. My clothes unpack with very few wrinkles. Big plus! I've gotten used to the fact that I won't use the hotel room luggage stands. It's no big deal. The scratches on the bag are now evidence of my travels and I view them as having added character to the bag. Word of advice: some airlines place stickers on the bag, which is annoying. There's a product called Goo Gone, which breaks down the adhesive very well. This is an amazing bag. Ease of use makes it well worth the money.

Yes, Rimowa is expensive (but still less expensive than other luxury brands). Yes, you can't stuff in every single stitch of clothing you own into this bag. But...yes, it's easily the lightest, most beautifully made piece of luggage you'll ever own. Take my word for it -- I used soft-sided bags for a long time, but Rimowa positively blows the competition away. I'm talkin' especially to those of us over 40 years old -- you wanna drag a heavy bag around on a long vacation? Take my advice -- this is a wonderful gift to yourself.

I loved this bag for 18 months until I recently noticed a crack on the top near the carry handle. Upon further examination, I found an even longer crack on the opposite side of the handle as well. Two co-workers also used Rimowa polycarbonate bags and have had three replaced in the past year due to cracks. As much as I love the design, the way it rolls on carpeted airport terminal floors and the interior of the luggage, I am amazed that such expensive products have only a 5 year warranty and that they don't even last through the warranty period. I am presently awaiting a replacement for my cracked bag and hope that it will survive longer than this one did.

I was very happy with this bag for two years, until the corners cracked. I don't travel much, so I think that the great looks don't justify the price. I'm going to invest in Rimowa Limbo with metal corners, and hope for the best.

Great piece of luggage. Amazingly durable for how lightweight it is - even the wheels. Gorgeous colors, too. This is my second piece of Rimowa. They should include luggage tags, though! Zappos' service is consistently outstanding, especially the VIP level. Amazon can't touch them!

Rimowa salsa air is just a lovely baggage. I like the fact that its lightweight and big so I can fit my stuff in for a long traveling. Plus, the colors are just gorgeous. The only downside of this bag is only that it doesn't have any belt inside it to secure your stuff.

Have had others from Rimowa and though brand gets high marks from others I just don't think it's worth the price. I had one Salsa and the inside pocket mesh ripped within a year. Tried this bag after reading multiple reviews and warning: if you pack the front pockets, the bag tips over. It's unstable, which is the last thing you need when you're in the act of travel. I returned the bag. Will go with other brands in the future.

I have the Aluminum version - the Stealth…. I have been traveling for 150-200 days a year for 10 years and bought a lager, 26" Rimowa Stealth one year ago. It has been the biggest mistake I have made in recent memory. Over the course of the year it has had a broken wheel, broken wheel bracket, broken handle and a shattered lock. It simply cannot withstand the rigors of being a check-able suitcase. I have used Tumi products for years with no problems. I am thoroughly disappointed a product as expensive as the Rimowa has been unable to handle the task.

Well-designed and thoughtfully constructed, this sturdy piece is a pleasure to use. It's a bit larger than allowed on most domestic airlines, but it is well within the limits for carriers such as Jetblue and can probably fit in most overhead compartments even for airlines that impose a theoretical limit of 45 linear inches. Packing is made easier with the compression straps, and the strong zippers make it possible to close the case even when slightly overloaded. The 4-wheel rollers work well, taking the strain out of moving through lengthy airport concourses even with a second bag sitting on top. Overall, a terrific product that seems worth the premium price.

I have gone through two Rimowa Salsa Airs, and both have had the corners bashed in by airlines, one breaking the shell. I sent the first one Rimowa's certified repair shop, and they basically knocked the corner out and super glued the shell together. It looks horrible. Now that the second one has been bashed as well, I'm just going to take my chances with a heavier bag from a different manufacturer.

Bought the Salsa Air Ultralight in dark blue. Very functional luggage. Tough to get used to zipping though because two "sides" don't line up well at times. Interior mesh dividers seem flimsy to me; we will see if they hold up to hard use. I do not like the single handle at all; it should be double to enable easier carry of add-on bag. TSA lock same as on most other luggage of similar type. Nothing special about it. I think the bag is overpriced when nearly identical products are less than half in price. Paid for the label...my mistake. I am a weekly traveler and never check luggage. Always in search of lightest weight with outstanding protection and ability to handle rough use. The bag has no side handle(s), either...also a minus. I think the polycarbonate fiber is a better quality than the cheaper luggage.

In terms of service, Zappos was spot-on. As for the bag, it certainly looks nice and is quite light, but after just two flights (Delta, with Fragile stickers), huge dents & gashes covered the most of bag. Nevertheless, everything inside was pretty safe and undamaged. Bringing it along was easy as well with its four wheels and sturdy handles (pull, top, and side).
